Temminck's pangolin is South Africa's only pangolin species and is listed as Vulnerable, with an estimated 16,000–24,000 mature individuals remaining nationally. Conservation combines intelligence-led law enforcement, rescue and rehabilitation, habitat protection, monitoring and community engagement, but illegal trade and limited population data remain serious challenges [1].

Some short Rwanda safari trips cost $800–$1,500, while a 10-day experience starts at $2,455 per person. [2] [8]
Rwanda Safari Packages 2026 range from short 1–2-day trips to 12-day journeys. Prices in current listings include $1,046 for a 5-day gorilla safari, $2,090 for a 7-day safari, and $2,455 for a 10-day experience. [2] [8] Compare permits, guides, transport, lodging, and included activities. Request quotes 9–12 months before travel for better choice and availability. [4]
Rwanda Safari Packages 2026 give travelers several ways to plan a focused wildlife trip. Current listings cover 3–12 days and center on gorilla trekking and chimpanzee tracking. [8] Other options include Akagera wildlife safaris, cultural tours, monkey trekking, and short combinations with national park activities. [2] [6]
Price alone does not show the full value of a safari. A lower quote may cover fewer activities, simpler lodging, or less private transport. A higher quote may include permits, more nights, stronger logistics, and extra park visits. Therefore, compare what the price includes before choosing an operator.
Quick answer: The best Rwanda safari package balances trip length, permit costs, guiding, transport, lodging, and activities. Short trips can start around $800–$1,500, while listed 5-day, 7-day, and 10-day packages cost $1,046, $2,090, and $2,455 per person. [2] [8] Request detailed quotes 9–12 months ahead. [4]
SafariFind connects travelers with verified tour operators and authentic traveler reviews. Use this guide to ask sharper questions, compare similar itineraries, and understand where your money goes. You can also read our guide to Rwanda safari costs for 3, 5, and 7 days before requesting a quote.
Compare Rwanda safari package prices by matching the same trip length, activities, and inclusions. A $1,046 five-day package cannot be compared fairly with a $2,090 seven-day itinerary until you check permits, lodging, transfers, meals, and guide services. [8]
The listed 5-day gorilla safari costs $1,046 per person, or about $209 per day before checking inclusions. The listed 7-day Rwanda safari costs $2,090, or about $299 per day. The listed 10-day experience costs $2,455, or about $246 per day. [8]
These figures help you spot large differences. They do not prove that one package offers better value. A package with a higher daily cost may include more park activities, better transport, or additional nights. Ask each operator for a full cost sheet.
Permit fees can shape the total cost of a gorilla or chimpanzee trip. Ask whether permits appear inside the listed price or sit outside it. Also confirm whether the quote includes airport transfers, private driving, park fees, meals, accommodation, and drinking water.
Short Rwanda safari trips can cost about $800–$1,500 for 1–2 days, especially when they focus on cultural tours or Akagera wildlife safaris. [2] That price can suit travelers with limited time. However, a short trip may offer less flexibility and fewer chances to add primate or savanna activities.
Compare Rwanda safari packages by price and duration to see which inclusions match your travel plan.
The five strongest value factors are permits, days, activities, guiding, and logistics. A Rwanda safari package is good value when these parts work together and match your main goal. Compare each factor in writing, rather than relying on a short package title.
Gorilla trekking and chimpanzee tracking are major activities in Rwanda safari packages. [8] Ask the operator to state permit details clearly. A quote should show whether the permit is included, reserved, refundable, transferable, or subject to a separate payment deadline.
Rwanda listings include 2-day, 3-day, 4-day, 5-day, and 8-day options. [6] Longer packages also appear in the wider 3–12-day range. [8] Choose the shortest trip that still gives you enough time for transfers, rest, and your main activity.
A rushed route can reduce value. Long road transfers may leave little time for wildlife viewing. A longer route can cost more, but it may give you better pacing and more activities. Ask for a day-by-day schedule before you compare totals.
Known for: Rwanda’s current package listings focus on gorilla trekking, chimpanzee tracking, monkey trips, cultural tours, and Akagera wildlife safaris. [2] [6] Match activities to your interests. Do not pay for a long itinerary if you only want one focused trek.
Travelers who want broader wildlife viewing should check whether Akagera activities appear in the plan. Our guide to Rwanda safari animals in Akagera can help you build a better activity checklist.
A guide affects both comfort and learning. Ask about guide experience, language, group size, and emergency support. Also ask whether one guide stays with you throughout the trip or whether local guides change between parks and activities.
Transport links every part of a safari. Ask how the operator handles airport pickup, park transfers, luggage, early starts, and changes caused by permit timing. Clear logistics can protect the value of a package more than a small discount.
SafariFind helps travelers compare operators, package details, and authentic reviews in one marketplace. Request a quote from verified Rwanda safari operators and ask each one to answer the same five questions.
Compare Rwanda safari packages in a simple table before you book. The table below uses current listed examples, not a promise that every operator includes the same services. Confirm the final price, rating, review record, permit terms, and inclusions directly with the operator.
| Name | Price | Duration | Rating | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Short cultural or Akagera trip | $800–$1,500 | 1–2 days | Verify on quote | Short stays and first wildlife visits |
| Gorilla safari | From $1,046 | 5 days | Verify on quote | Focused gorilla trekking |
| Gorilla and monkey trip | From $1,845 | 3 days | Verify on quote | Travelers seeking a short primate route |
| Rwanda safari | From $2,090 | 7 days | Verify on quote | Balanced multi-day travel |
| Experience Rwanda | From $2,455 | 10 days | Verify on quote | Slower routes and more activities |
These listed prices come from current 2026 package information. The 3-day gorilla-and-monkey trip starts at $1,845. The 5-day gorilla safari starts at $1,046. The 7-day Rwanda safari starts at $2,090, while the 10-day experience starts at $2,455. [8]
Price range: Current examples run from $800–$1,500 for many 1–2-day trips and from $1,046 to $2,455 for selected longer listings. [2] [8] Your final quote depends on the route, travel dates, activities, accommodation, and what the operator includes.
Compare Rwanda safari prices and durations on SafariFind before choosing the lowest headline rate.
Start planning Rwanda safari packages 9–12 months before departure, especially for gorilla trekking. Early requests give operators time to check permits, lodging, vehicles, and preferred dates. They also give you more time to compare detailed quotes instead of accepting the first available route. [4]
Best for: Gorilla trekking suits travelers seeking a focused primate experience. Chimpanzee tracking suits visitors who want a different forest activity. Akagera suits travelers who want a wildlife safari or a shorter park visit. Cultural tours suit visitors who want a brief trip with local experiences.
Write one main goal and two optional activities. This keeps the quote focused. It also helps an operator remove extras that do not improve your trip.
Ask at least three operators for the same route. Give each operator the same dates, group size, room type, and activity list. Then compare the answers. A quote that looks cheap may leave out a permit or transfer.
Ask these questions in every request:
Travel documents and health preparation belong in your value check. They can affect timing, cost, and peace of mind. Belgian travelers can review this guide to Rwanda visa rules for Belgian citizens in 2026. Swedish travelers can use the guide to Rwanda visa rules for Swedish citizens in 2026.
Travelers should also check advice from a qualified health professional. Our guides on Rwanda vaccines for Belgian travelers and Swedish travelers explain where to begin your research.
Lodging can change how much value you receive from a route. Check the property location, meal plan, room type, and transfer time. Compare your options with our guide to seven Rwanda safari lodges compared for 2026.
Finally, read reviews from past travelers. Look for comments about communication, guide skills, punctual transfers, and how the operator handled changes. These details often matter more than a small price difference.
There is no single safety ranking in the supplied 2026 safari pricing sources that proves Rwanda is safer than South Africa. Travelers should compare current government advice, route conditions, city plans, operator support, and personal needs rather than rely on a simple country-wide answer.
Rwanda safari safety is a practical planning issue. Ask how your operator manages airport transfers, park travel, border routes, guide support, and emergency changes. Keep your itinerary, accommodation details, insurance information, and operator contact numbers together.
Country comparisons can hide important differences. A city transfer, a remote park drive, and a forest trek each require different planning. Ask where you will travel, how long each transfer lasts, who drives, and what support is available during the activity.
SafariFind reviews can help you assess communication and service history. They cannot replace official travel advice or medical guidance. Check official government sources before departure, then ask your selected operator about current local conditions.
Rwanda safari packages can offer strong value when the itinerary is clear and the operator communicates well. Safety planning should form part of the quote review, not an afterthought. This approach answers the question in a useful way without making an unsupported claim about one country being safer overall.
Rwanda safari packages cost about $800–$1,500 for many 1–2-day trips. Current listed longer examples include $1,046 for five days, $1,845 for three days, $2,090 for seven days, and $2,455 for ten days per person. [2] [8] Final prices depend on permits, lodging, transport, guides, and activities.
Plan between 3 and 12 days for the main Rwanda safari package range in 2026. [8] Shorter listings also include 2-day and 3-day routes. [6] Choose the length that allows your main activity, transfers, rest, and any extra park or cultural visit.
A Rwanda safari package may include permits, park fees, accommodation, meals, transport, a driver-guide, and planned activities. Inclusions differ by operator. Ask for a day-by-day quote that lists each cost, especially gorilla or chimpanzee permits, before you pay.
Start requesting detailed Rwanda safari quotes 9–12 months before departure. This timing is especially useful for gorilla trekking because it supports early planning for permits, preferred lodging, transport, and guide availability. [4] Earlier planning also gives you time to compare several operators.
The supplied 2026 sources do not provide a reliable country-wide safety comparison between Rwanda and South Africa. Use current government travel advice, review your exact route, and ask your operator about transfers, guide support, emergency plans, and local conditions before departure.
Compare operators by verified reviews, clear permits, complete pricing, guide experience, transport plans, lodging, and cancellation terms. SafariFind connects travelers with verified tour operators and authentic reviews, helping you compare packages and request quotes for your 2026 trip.
Rwanda Safari Packages 2026 offer clear choices for short trips, primate adventures, and longer routes. Current listings range from $800–$1,500 for many 1–2-day trips. Longer examples include $1,046 for five days, $2,090 for seven days, and $2,455 for ten days. [2] [8]
The best choice depends on your goal and the details inside the quote. Choose a short Akagera or cultural route when time is limited. Choose a longer package when you want more activities, slower travel, or extra nights. In every case, compare permits, guides, transport, lodging, meals, and reviews.
Start your search 9–12 months ahead, especially for gorilla trekking. Compare verified Rwanda safari packages on SafariFind, read authentic traveler reviews, and request matching quotes from trusted operators. With careful planning, you can choose a clear, well-supported safari in 2026.

"I was working with a tour operator out of Kenya to plan a Uganda gorilla trek followed by a Kenya & Tanzania safari. For some reason, the Uganda portion started having issues with only a few weeks to go. Enter Brian Ahereza of GoExplore. Wow! Talk about fast acting and excellent service. Within 1 day, Brian arranged everything. The only thing that would have made my trip better is if I had added one extra day, but by this point, we couldn't squeeze it in, so Brian did the absolute best with what he had to work with. For starters, one of the best things that could have happened did! ANd that was to have Charles assigned as our driver/guide. We flew into Kigali, Rwanda and Charles met us at the airport and took us to our hotel. The next morning we got up for the long drive to the Nkoringo area of Bwindi. A lot of this drive is on some VERY difficult dirt roads and Charles was masterful at navigating the terrain. Furthermore, I was using offline Google Maps to track our location and there is no possible way I could have gotten to where Charles was going. We got to Nkoringo Lodge and immediately loved it. Brian had arranged for us to have one of only 2 rooms there that had on demand hot water. Our room overlooked Bwindi and we sat on the deck admiring the view. To get to the bar/dining area, we hiked up and over a ridge and the view from that side was south to the 3 volcanoes on the border of Uganda/Rwanda/Congo - absolutely beautiful! The next day we did the trek to the Nkuringo gorilla group. It was not a difficult trek until we had to cross a fast flowing stream because the gorillas had gone to that side and as soon as we crossed, they came back! So we did too. And then we found them and it was such a wonderful experience! My wife was standing next to me and a young male (7-8 years old??) suddenly turned and started walking towards us. My wife moved to the left, but our guide said to stand still. The gorilla walked right between us and as he passed, he stuck out his arm between my legs and grasped me around the thigh!!! OMG! Even though I could feel his amazing power, I did not feel in danger. Just as quickly, he let go and continued walking! After that amazing trek, we drove (another long day) up to Queen Elizabeth National Park and spent 2 nights at the Buffalo Safari lodge. We did a couple of games drives in which we saw lots of antelope, elephants, buffalo and 6 lions (all female, with one or two young males). We followed with a boat ride on the Kazenga channel which was fantastic. The next day, we drove to Kibale National Park to look for Chimps. We arrived at our wonderful lodge, the Chimpanzee Forest Guest House at about lunchtime and then headed to Kibale for our Chimp Trek. At lunch, we met a couple who showed us amazing pictures from their trek that very morning. Unfortunately for us, even with 7 groups in the forest, we could only find 2 chimp sand they were up in the trees. That happens in nature, but the real lesson is to take the morning trek!!! The next day, Charles drove us to Entebbe and our Uganda trip was over. One of my friends asked me about the birds in Uganda. My wife loves birds and by extension, I have come to love them as well. SHe asked Charles, our guide, about every single bird we saw. Charles had a very well worn copy of "Birds of East Africa". He didn't need that book because he had it memorized. Charles was a fantastic driver/guide/person! He made our trip incredibly special! I can't thank Brian, Charles and GoExplore enough for making this so special!!!"

"I’m a wildlife photographer, and in May 2025, I went on an 8-day private photo safari organized by Brian, the owner of GoExplore Safari. The goal was to photograph Uganda’s wildlife highlights: gorillas in Bwindi, big cats in Queen Elizabeth, chimpanzees in Kibale, and the rare Shoebill Stork in Mabamba Swamp. The itinerary was well thought out, and everything ran smoothly. I flew into Kigali, Rwanda, which I highly recommend if you're heading to the Rushaga sector of Bwindi — much closer and more convenient than Entebbe. If photography is your priority, I also suggest booking two gorilla treks or considering Mgahinga. I only did one, and while it was incredible to see them, capturing strong images was difficult. The rainforest is thick, lighting tricky, and your movement limited — just something to keep in mind. Mozes, my guide, was outstanding. He’s punctual, safe, knowledgeable, and has a clear love for wildlife. He studied tourism, understands photography, and even shared stories from past conservation work, like relocating giraffes from Murchison Falls to Kidepo. He always positioned the car for the best angles and made the drives smooth and productive. Our first stop was Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge, just five minutes from Rushaga Gate. The lodge was cozy, well-designed, and mosquito-free, with great coffee and local food — an ideal base for gorilla trekking. In Queen Elizabeth, we had four full days of game drives. I like to go hard on photography, so we were out from sunrise to sunset. One major perk with GoExplore is you can plan your own drive schedule within park hours (6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.). On our first day, we stayed until closing — the only car left in Kasenyi Plains. That kind of flexibility made a huge difference. I also recommend the optional lion and leopard tracking. You’re still in your private vehicle, but a tracker joins you and leads off-road directly to the cats. We spent nearly four hours with a leopard and her cubs in a cactus tree — truly a dream scenario for any photographer. Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale was another highlight. The chimps came down from the trees and moved through the forest, and we followed them. The one-hour viewing stretched to 2.5 hours. For photography, it’s better to wait until they’re on the ground — the real action happens there. On the final day, we went to Mabamba Swamp to see the Shoebill. From a photography standpoint, it’s the best place in Africa to photograph this rare bird. The canoe brings you to water level, with clean backgrounds and soft light — a perfect setup. Uganda in late May was lush, green, and surprisingly dry — just one short rainstorm. The scenery, wildlife, and people made it a beautiful place to explore. If you’re considering Uganda, book with GoExplore — and if you can, request Mozes. His experience and attention to detail made the entire trip not just productive, but truly enjoyable. Huge thanks to Brian and Mozes for making it all happen!"

"GoExplore (Brian) provided a magical memorable trip for us to Rwanda. From our first communication via email and whatsapp, they were able to layout an itinerary that fit our needs. They delivered on all aspects of the trip. The 3 guides we met in various locations were just outstanding. It was my wife's birthday and I mentioned that and at each dinner we ended up with a cake and the staff singing. We were so appreciative. I would tell others to use them without hesitation."
