There are no documented wild mountain gorillas in Eswatini. Mountain gorilla conservation is concentrated in the Virunga Massif across Rwanda, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where the population has recovered to at least 1,000 animals but remains vulnerable to habitat loss, disease, poaching and conflict.

Rubavu Beach Packages 2027: Prices, Hotels & Lake Kivu start from $2,500 per person for a four-night stay, based on current research. Rubavu sits on Lake Kivu’s northern shore in western Rwanda. Cleo Lake Kivu Hotel and Lake Kivu Serena Hotel are key stay options. Confirm 2027 dates, hotel rates, and activities before booking.
Lake Kivu covers about 2,700 square kilometres, giving Rwanda a beach escape far from the coast. [4] Rubavu Beach Packages 2027: Prices, Hotels & Lake Kivu help travelers combine lake time, boutique hotels, and western Rwanda adventures in one trip.
Rubavu, also known as Gisenyi, sits on the northern shore of Lake Kivu. [5] The town offers a different pace from a traditional game drive. You can swim, take a boat ride, visit local communities, or rest beside the water.
Quick answer: Rubavu beach packages for 2027 start from $2,500 per person for four nights. The price depends on the hotel, transport, meals, and activities included. Cleo Lake Kivu Hotel offers a rooftop pool, spa, and lake views. Lake Kivu Serena Hotel is another listed accommodation option.
This guide explains the package price, hotel choices, activities, and planning steps. It also shows how Rubavu can fit into wider safari holidays in Rwanda. Use the figures as planning guidance, not as a fixed quotation.
Rubavu Beach Packages 2027 are planned holidays that combine accommodation in Rubavu with time beside Lake Kivu. Packages can also include transport, meals, guided activities, and nearby cultural experiences. Current research places the starting price at $2,500 per person for four nights in 2027.
Rubavu Beach is a lakeside destination rather than an ocean beach. The town’s waterfront lies on Lake Kivu’s northern shore, while the wider lake has 90 kilometres of Rwandan shoreline. [4][5] That setting makes Rubavu useful for both rest and short outdoor trips.
Rubavu is known for lakefront scenery, beach time, boat activities, and access to the Congo Nile Trail. The trail begins in or near Rubavu, according to destination and property guides. [2][5] Travelers can therefore add walking or cycling plans to a short hotel break.
Cleo Lake Kivu Hotel is described as a lakeside boutique hotel in Rubavu. Its listed features include a rooftop pool, spa, and wide lake views. A listed rate starts at R7,320 per person per night. [2] Ask whether a 2027 package includes this hotel or a different room category.
Lake Kivu Serena Hotel also appears in current Rubavu package listings. Orbitz shows a sample rate of $251 total per night, including taxes and fees, for July 25–26, 2026. [1] This is a dated example, so it does not guarantee a 2027 price.
Compare 2027 Rubavu beach packages with verified safari operators before choosing your hotel and activities.
Rubavu is best for travelers who want a calm lake stay after busy sightseeing. Couples can choose a hotel with lake views and spa services. Families can plan short boat outings and easy waterfront time. Safari travelers can use Rubavu as a peaceful stop before or after a Rwanda wildlife trip.
Rwanda also offers gorilla trekking and national park visits. The first mention of Rwanda in a broader trip plan should include the country’s mountain, forest, and lake regions. Rubavu adds a water-based experience to that mix.
Early planning matters because hotel prices and package availability change by date. A four-night starting price of $2,500 gives you a useful budget marker. However, your final cost depends on room type, transfers, meals, activities, and whether you add gorilla trekking.
The package name can also hide important differences. One offer may include airport transfers and daily meals. Another may include only a room and breakfast. Always request an itemized quote before paying a deposit.
Rubavu beach packages cost from $2,500 per person for a four-night stay in 2027, according to the supplied research summary. Hotel-only rates can be lower or higher than this figure because packages may include transport, meals, guides, and activities.
Orbitz lists a Rubavu sample price of $251 total per night, including taxes and fees, for July 25–26, 2026. [1] This one-night example helps show how hotel-only pricing works. It should not replace a 2027 package quote.
| Name | Price | Duration | Rating | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cleo Lake Kivu Hotel | From R7,320 per person per night | Flexible | Not supplied | Boutique comfort, rooftop pool, spa, lake views |
| Lake Kivu Serena Hotel | $251 total per night in a July 25–26, 2026 listing | One-night sample | Not supplied | Hotel stays with listed package availability |
The $2,500 starting figure applies to a four-night 2027 package in the research summary. The supplied data does not state every inclusion. Therefore, ask the operator to list accommodation, meals, transfers, activities, taxes, and guide services separately.
Lake Kivu activity costs also need checking. A listed boat, hot-springs, and massage experience lasts between eight and fourteen hours. Ticket prices are calculated at checkout. [8] Treat that activity as a separate line unless your package confirms it is included.
Request quotes from verified operators for a four-night Rubavu package from $2,500 and compare inclusions, reviews, and cancellation terms.
Cleo Lake Kivu Hotel suits travelers who value design, rooftop space, a spa, and panoramic views. Its listed starting rate of R7,320 per person per night provides a clear luxury reference. [2] Confirm the currency conversion and the exact 2027 room plan.
Lake Kivu Serena Hotel offers another route for travelers comparing lakefront accommodation. The available sample listing shows $251 total per night with taxes and fees for one night in 2026. [1] A longer stay, different date, or changed room type may produce a different result.
For a wider budget comparison, read Rwanda safari packages by budget for 2027. A Rubavu stay can work as a stand-alone lake holiday or as one part of a longer itinerary.
Lake Kivu experiences include beach time, boat trips, hot springs, massages, local culture, and the Congo Nile Trail. The best combination depends on your pace. A short stay can focus on the waterfront. A longer package can add walking, cultural visits, and a transfer to another Rwanda destination.
Lake Kivu provides the main setting for a Rubavu beach holiday. Travelers can plan time beside the water, then add a boat experience or a hot-springs visit. A listed combined boat, hot-springs, and massage experience lasts eight to fourteen hours. [8] Confirm departure time, meals, transfers, and ticket costs.
Boat trips work well for travelers who want a full-day activity without changing hotels. Ask whether the trip uses a private boat or shared service. Also ask about weather policies, meeting points, and what the ticket price includes at checkout.
The Congo Nile Trail begins in or near Rubavu, according to the supplied destination guides. [2][5] This makes Rubavu a practical base for travelers who want more than a pool and beach. Ask a local operator to match the route length with your fitness and available time.
Nearby destinations create more choices. The first mention of Volcanoes National Park links Rubavu with Rwanda’s mountain region. Travelers can also research Mount Karisimbi or a visit to Iby'iwacu Cultural Village.
Rubavu can become part of a larger Rwanda itinerary. You may begin in Kigali, continue to the lake, and then explore western or southern attractions. A culture-focused plan can include the Institute of National Museums of Rwanda or Butare.
Waterfalls and wildlife can also extend the trip. Options include Rusumo Falls, Kamiranzovu Waterfall, and Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. These destinations require separate route planning, so do not assume they fit into a four-night package.
Rubavu is a freshwater lake destination, not a coastal resort. Its appeal comes from Lake Kivu views, a lakeside town setting, and access to Rwanda’s inland activities. Travelers searching for Diani Beach should treat it as a separate destination, not a direct substitute for Rubavu.
The phrase “Diani Beach: The Best Coastline on the African Continent?” describes Kenya’s coast, while Rubavu offers a Rwandan lake holiday. Both can suit leisure travelers, but they provide different landscapes, activities, and travel routes.
Start your 2027 Rubavu holiday by choosing the trip length, hotel level, and activities. Then request a written quote that separates hotel costs from transport and experiences. This approach makes it easier to compare packages and avoid surprise charges.
A four-night stay matches the starting package duration in the supplied 2027 research. It gives you time for arrival, lake activities, rest, and one longer day trip. Add extra nights if you want a slower schedule or a wider Rwanda route.
Do not judge an offer by nights alone. Check the number of full activity days. A late arrival and early departure can reduce your usable time beside Lake Kivu.
Choose Cleo Lake Kivu Hotel if a rooftop pool, spa, boutique design, and lake views match your priorities. Its listed starting rate is R7,320 per person per night. [2] Choose a different hotel if your main goal is a lower room rate or a specific meal plan.
Lake Kivu Serena Hotel appears in current Rubavu package information. Its sample rate of $251 total per night includes taxes and fees for July 25–26, 2026. [1] Use that listing as a comparison point, then ask for a fresh 2027 quote.
Choose one main activity each day. For example, plan a boat and hot-springs experience on one day. Reserve another day for the waterfront and a short walk. Add culture or a wider safari stop only after checking road times.
Check the deposit, cancellation deadline, refund rules, and payment currency. Ask if the $2,500 starting price covers one traveler or shared occupancy. Also confirm whether the price changes for solo travelers, children, or private transfers.
SafariFind connects travelers with verified tour operators and authentic reviews. Use the marketplace to compare package details instead of relying on one headline price.
For gorilla trekking, review Rwanda gorilla trekking costs, permits, and experiences before adding the activity. A Rubavu beach stay and a gorilla trek serve different parts of a Rwanda trip.

As of August 2026, 2027 prices and availability require confirmation. The research gives a useful starting point, but operators must confirm the final itinerary, hotel, and activity costs.
Rubavu Beach Packages 2027 start from $2,500 per person for a four-night stay, based on the supplied current research. The final price depends on the hotel, transport, meals, activities, room type, and booking terms. Request an itemized quotation before making a payment.
Cleo Lake Kivu Hotel and Lake Kivu Serena Hotel are two listed Rubavu accommodation options. Cleo is described as a lakeside boutique hotel with a rooftop pool, spa, and lake views. A sample Lake Kivu Serena Hotel rate showed $251 total per night for July 25–26, 2026.
You can add beach time, boat trips, hot springs, massages, and Congo Nile Trail activities. A listed combined boat, hot-springs, and massage experience lasts eight to fourteen hours. Ticket prices are calculated at checkout, so confirm the cost and inclusions before booking.
A Rwanda safari cost depends on the destination, hotel, transport, activities, and trip length. The supplied Rubavu research gives a 2027 starting point of $2,500 per person for four nights. Gorilla trekking requires separate planning, so check permit and package details before adding it.
Gorilla trekking costs and experiences are separate from a Rubavu beach package. A gorilla trip requires its own permit, transport, accommodation, and trekking plan. Read the dedicated Rwanda gorilla trekking budget guide for 2027 before combining both experiences.
Rubavu is also known as Gisenyi and sits on Lake Kivu’s northern shore. The two names describe the same lakeside area in western Rwanda. Use both names when checking hotels, transfers, activities, and package availability.

"I was working with a tour operator out of Kenya to plan a Uganda gorilla trek followed by a Kenya & Tanzania safari. For some reason, the Uganda portion started having issues with only a few weeks to go. Enter Brian Ahereza of GoExplore. Wow! Talk about fast acting and excellent service. Within 1 day, Brian arranged everything. The only thing that would have made my trip better is if I had added one extra day, but by this point, we couldn't squeeze it in, so Brian did the absolute best with what he had to work with. For starters, one of the best things that could have happened did! ANd that was to have Charles assigned as our driver/guide. We flew into Kigali, Rwanda and Charles met us at the airport and took us to our hotel. The next morning we got up for the long drive to the Nkoringo area of Bwindi. A lot of this drive is on some VERY difficult dirt roads and Charles was masterful at navigating the terrain. Furthermore, I was using offline Google Maps to track our location and there is no possible way I could have gotten to where Charles was going. We got to Nkoringo Lodge and immediately loved it. Brian had arranged for us to have one of only 2 rooms there that had on demand hot water. Our room overlooked Bwindi and we sat on the deck admiring the view. To get to the bar/dining area, we hiked up and over a ridge and the view from that side was south to the 3 volcanoes on the border of Uganda/Rwanda/Congo - absolutely beautiful! The next day we did the trek to the Nkuringo gorilla group. It was not a difficult trek until we had to cross a fast flowing stream because the gorillas had gone to that side and as soon as we crossed, they came back! So we did too. And then we found them and it was such a wonderful experience! My wife was standing next to me and a young male (7-8 years old??) suddenly turned and started walking towards us. My wife moved to the left, but our guide said to stand still. The gorilla walked right between us and as he passed, he stuck out his arm between my legs and grasped me around the thigh!!! OMG! Even though I could feel his amazing power, I did not feel in danger. Just as quickly, he let go and continued walking! After that amazing trek, we drove (another long day) up to Queen Elizabeth National Park and spent 2 nights at the Buffalo Safari lodge. We did a couple of games drives in which we saw lots of antelope, elephants, buffalo and 6 lions (all female, with one or two young males). We followed with a boat ride on the Kazenga channel which was fantastic. The next day, we drove to Kibale National Park to look for Chimps. We arrived at our wonderful lodge, the Chimpanzee Forest Guest House at about lunchtime and then headed to Kibale for our Chimp Trek. At lunch, we met a couple who showed us amazing pictures from their trek that very morning. Unfortunately for us, even with 7 groups in the forest, we could only find 2 chimp sand they were up in the trees. That happens in nature, but the real lesson is to take the morning trek!!! The next day, Charles drove us to Entebbe and our Uganda trip was over. One of my friends asked me about the birds in Uganda. My wife loves birds and by extension, I have come to love them as well. SHe asked Charles, our guide, about every single bird we saw. Charles had a very well worn copy of "Birds of East Africa". He didn't need that book because he had it memorized. Charles was a fantastic driver/guide/person! He made our trip incredibly special! I can't thank Brian, Charles and GoExplore enough for making this so special!!!"
