Lower Zambezi night drive packages in 2027 start at about $6,500 per person for 9 nights, while an 8-day luxury safari starts at $10,750 per person. The best planning window depends on your route and budget. May to June shows lower listed package prices, while July to October costs more. SafariFind helps you compare verified operators, packages, and traveler reviews.
One Lower Zambezi safari package reaches $21,400 for August 2027, based on two people sharing. [5] That figure shows how sharply prices can rise when you add peak dates, luxury camps, flights, and several parks.
Lower Zambezi Night Drive Packages 2027: Price Guide is a planning resource for travelers visiting Zambia's Lower Zambezi area. It explains real price examples, lodge rates, trip lengths, seasonal differences, and the costs that often sit outside a package quote.
Lower Zambezi night drives give you a different view of safari life. After sunset, guides use a spotlight to look for animals that stay hidden during daylight. You may also add a canoe trip, a walking safari, or fishing on the Zambezi. These activities can change the final cost.
The Lower Zambezi is best suited to travelers who want a slower river safari. It is less about racing between sightings and more about time on the water, quiet roads, and small camp settings. That style costs more than a simple lodge stay, but it gives you more ways to explore.
Quick answer: A 2027 Lower Zambezi night drive safari costs about $6,500 per person for 9 nights at the low end of the listed research data. An 8-day luxury trip starts at $10,750 per person. Plan for higher rates in peak months and ask whether flights, transfers, park fees, and activities are included.
Lower Zambezi night drive packages are multi-day safari trips that include after-dark game drives in or near the Lower Zambezi area. They often combine lodge stays with river activities, guided walks, game viewing, and transfers. The package length and lodge level have the biggest effect on the price.
Lower Zambezi night drives are known for wildlife viewing after sunset. A trained guide drives slowly along safari roads while a spotlight scans the bush. The light can reveal animals that are hard to find during the day, including nocturnal species and predators that begin hunting at night.
Lower Zambezi also offers water-based safari activities. The Zambezi is known for tiger-fish fishing, also called striped river dog fishing. [4] A canoe safari adds a quiet way to view the river edge, while a walking safari lets you focus on tracks, plants, and smaller signs of wildlife.
Lower Zambezi National Park sits beside the Zambezi River, across from Mana Pools National Park in Zimbabwe. The river setting shapes the trip. You can spend one drive on land, then view the same wildlife zone from a boat or canoe the next morning.
Mana Pools National Park is also a useful comparison for travelers considering a cross-border route. Its location across the river can inspire a longer itinerary, but adding another country usually means more transfers and a higher total cost.
The headline price does not tell the whole story. A $6,500 quote may cover nine nights and guiding, while a luxury quote can include premium camps, private transfers, and more costly flight connections. Ask for a full cost sheet before you compare two packages.
SafariFind connects travelers with verified tour operators. Compare 2027 Lower Zambezi night drive packages by price and duration before you request a quote, then check authentic reviews from past travelers.
For a wider Zambia trip, the 7-day Luangwa Valley safari cost guide gives useful context on how park combinations affect a final budget.
Lower Zambezi night drive packages cost about $6,500 per person for a 9-night trip at the lower listed level. An 8-day luxury safari starts at $10,750 per person. A separate August 2027 Zambia itinerary lists $21,400 for two people sharing, with a deposit from $5,400. [2][3][5]
| Name | Price | Duration | Rating | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Timbuktu Travel night drive package | From $6,500 per person | 9 nights | Not listed | Travelers seeking a longer night-drive safari |
| Lower Zambezi luxury safari | From $10,750 per person | 8 days | Not listed | Luxury lodge travelers |
| Listed seasonal Lower Zambezi package | $690 to $890 per person | Not listed | Not listed | Travelers comparing seasonal entry prices |
| Ultimate Zambia August itinerary | $21,400 for two sharing | Not listed | Not listed | Travelers combining high-end safari and beach travel |
The listed $690 price applies to May and June, while the same source lists $890 for July to October. [7] Treat this as a package example, not a fixed rate for every lodge or operator. The final quote can change with room type, flights, and the number of nights.
Luxury lodge rates also show the wide spread between properties. Kanyemba Lodge is listed at $220 to $340 per night. Kasaka River Lodge is listed at $350 to $375. Kulefu Tented Camp ranges from $130 to $475, while Royal Zambezi Lodge ranges from $450 to $500. [1]
The August 2027 price of $21,400 is a guideline based on two people sharing. It may change with peak travel periods, exchange rates, flight class, room type, and special offers. [5] That warning matters when you compare a quote made in September 2026 with a booking made months later.
Use SafariFind when your main concern is price control. Request quotes for 2027 Lower Zambezi packages under your target budget and ask each operator to list flights, transfers, park fees, and activities separately.
Travelers who want to add the falls can also compare a 7-day route with three nights at Royal Livingstone and three nights in the Lower Zambezi. [8] The Victoria Falls destination guide helps you assess whether that extra stop fits your time and budget.
The best Lower Zambezi night drive package matches your travel dates, activity goals, and comfort level. Start by checking what the price includes. Then compare the same number of nights, lodge standard, and transfer type across operators.
An 8-day itinerary gives you enough time for night drives, day drives, and river activities without making the trip feel rushed. A 9-night plan gives you more time for rest and weather changes. A 7-day Victoria Falls and Lower Zambezi route works well for travelers who want both destinations. [2][3][8]
Shorter trips can look cheaper, but the daily cost may be higher. Fixed transfer costs get spread over fewer nights. Ask whether the package begins at Lusaka, Victoria Falls, or another park, because the starting point changes the route.
Kanyemba Lodge is listed at $220 to $340 per night and is described as close to Lusaka. Kasaka River Lodge is listed at $350 to $375. Kulefu Tented Camp covers a much wider range, from $130 to $475. Royal Zambezi Lodge is listed at $450 to $500 per night. [1]
These rates do not automatically equal a full safari price. Meals, guiding, transfers, park fees, and drinks may follow different rules. A low room rate can become less attractive if it excludes the activities you planned to book.
A night drive is the main reason to book this type of package, but it should not be the only question. Confirm how many night drives are included and whether the operator shares the vehicle with other guests.
Lower Zambezi is also a strong choice for bird lovers. About 350 bird species have been recorded in the area, including carmine bee-eaters and African fish eagles. [4] If birds matter to you, ask for a guide with bird knowledge and plan some daylight time beside the river.
Peak travel rates can move. Exchange rates can move too. The August 2027 package example warns that flight class, room type, special offers, and peak periods may change the price. [5]
Read the deposit rules before you pay. The listed August package requires a deposit from $5,400. [5] Ask when the balance is due and what happens if you change dates or cancel.
The broader Zambia safari lodges guide for 2027 can help you compare camp styles before you choose a Lower Zambezi room.
Start your Lower Zambezi night drive plan by choosing dates, budget, and arrival city. Then compare a complete itinerary rather than a room-only rate. In 2027, early planning gives you more time to check flight links, lodge space, deposits, and activity details.
Lusaka is a common starting point for Zambia travel, and bush plane links can connect the capital with safari areas. Livingstone can also work for a route that includes Victoria Falls. One travel source describes bush plane connections from Lusaka, other national parks, or Livingstone to Jeki airstrip, followed by a ground transfer. [7]
Travelers who want to start in the capital can read the 2027 Lusaka day trips guide before adding a domestic flight or road transfer.
Use one clear request for every operator. Give your dates, group size, room needs, arrival city, and target spend. Ask operators to quote the same number of nights so the comparison stays fair.
Request a line-by-line quote. It should show accommodation, meals, night drives, day drives, river activities, transfers, flights, park fees, and taxes. If an item is not included, ask for its estimated cost.
Keep your first night flexible if your flight arrives late. A missed bush connection can affect the rest of the route. Your operator should explain the backup plan, transfer timing, and any extra hotel night.
Do not treat a night drive like a guaranteed predator show. Wildlife moves on its own schedule. The value comes from seeing the bush change after dark and learning how guides track animals.
SafariFind can help you compare operators, package prices, and authentic reviews in one place. Compare verified Lower Zambezi tour operators and request a 2027 quote after you define your dates and budget.
Lower Zambezi night drive packages start at about $6,500 per person for 9 nights in the current research data. An 8-day luxury safari starts at $10,750 per person. Flights, transfers, park fees, and private activities may change the final quote. [2][3]
May to June has the lower listed seasonal example at $690 per person. The same source lists $890 per person for July to October. These are package examples, so confirm the 2027 rate, inclusions, and lodge standard before booking. [7]
A Lower Zambezi night drive package can include after-dark game drives, lodge accommodation, guiding, meals, and transfers. Some itineraries also add canoe safaris, walking safaris, daytime drives, or tiger-fish fishing. Ask the operator how many activities the quoted price covers.
An 8-day or 9-night safari gives you time for night drives, daytime game viewing, and river activities. A 7-day itinerary can work when you combine three nights at Victoria Falls with three nights in Lower Zambezi. [2][3][8]
Yes. One listed 7-day itinerary includes three nights at Royal Livingstone and three nights in the Lower Zambezi. [8] This route suits travelers who want a falls visit and river safari, but extra flights and transfers can raise the total price.
Use SafariFind to compare verified operators, package prices, and authentic traveler reviews. Ask for a written quote that separates accommodation, flights, transfers, park fees, and activities before you pay a deposit.
Lower Zambezi night drive packages in 2027 start at about $6,500 per person for 9 nights, while an 8-day luxury safari starts at $10,750 per person. [2][3] These figures give you a useful starting point, but the final cost depends on season, lodge level, flights, transfers, and activities.
Choose May to June if the lower listed seasonal example suits your plans. Choose July to October if you want to travel during the higher-priced period shown in the available package data. [7] For a fuller trip, consider a 7-day Victoria Falls and Lower Zambezi route with three nights in each main stop. [8]
Ask every operator for the same details. Compare night drive numbers, vehicle use, river activities, lodge rates, and cancellation rules. Then read reviews before you decide.

"On 10.9. until 1.10. In 2023, I went on a trip to Botswana, Zimbabwe and a short visit to Zambia with my clients - friends. I carefully prepared the trip in cooperation with the manager of Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours, Mr. Tongesai Mutematsaka. After arriving in Gaborone we organized a short tour of the city ourselves and met Tongesai in Maun. Tongesai was our driver and guide practically the whole way. We visited the Okavango River Delta and its surroundings (Moremi Reserve, Mokoro boat cruise, flight over the Okavango Delta. This was followed by a visit to the Makgadikgadi Salt Flats, then the Elephant Sands area and in Botswana Chobe National Park with a cruise on the Chobe River. Then we crossed to Zimbabwe, which was the main part of our journey. In the Victoria Falls area, we visited the Monde settlement, took a helicopter flight over Victoria Falls, followed by a cruise on the Zambezi River as part of a visit to the national park of the same name. We also walked past Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwean side and had a Boma dinner in the evening (too much of a "tourist thing"). On the Zambian side of the falls we saw white rhinos in Mosi - oa - Tunya National Park, then visited the museum in Livingstone and walked the Zambian side of the falls. From Victoria Falls, we headed to Hwange National Park, where we had a beautiful program - a safari, and after Hwange, there was also a very interesting program in Matobo National Park (there, among other things, white rhinos (a mother with her little daughter), beautiful rock formations and prehistoric cave drawings. The next place visited was Khami with very interesting buildings, and then we visited the ruins of Great Zimbabwe, which are among the most important world monuments. This was followed by a visit to the Chinhoya Karst and finally the gallery in Harare. I would also like to comment on the provision of services: Accommodation in the hotels was at the standard, expected level, only the service at the Great Zimbabwe Hotel was rather lazy. Accommodation in lodges - very good and the best accommodation was in Iganyana tented camp in Hwange National Park, mainly due to the extraordinary professionalism and very friendly attitude of the staff there towards us, the visitors. I must also highly praise all the local guides we met everywhere, e.g. in Chobe, Hwange and Matobo National Parks. I want to emphasize that this journey is one of the most interesting that I have made around the world. I believe that my clients - friends were also satisfied with the set. Thanks to the travel agency Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours and Mr. Tongesai Mutematsaka. I recommend Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours to anyone considering a trip to Zimbabwe."

"Tongesai was awesome from the start. I knew he was a good tour operator because he answered all of my questions in a timely manner and no question was ever stupid. Everything was just as he said once we arrived and really it was better. We prepared for about a year in advance for this trip and the tour operator was instrumental and making this trip a success. I highly recommend this tour operator to anyone who wants to visit Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Botswana. Give Tongesai a call or email, and you will 100% not be disappointed. I have a very deep understanding of border crossing and transportation challenges in many African countries at this point because of the efforts of the tour operator. This makes my wife and I have very comfortable to approach another visit or look at visiting a different African country."
