Liuwa Plain safari packages for 2027 start at about US$3,500 per person for a four day explorer trip. A six day migration safari can cost US$11,000 or more, before flights. Visit Liuwa Plain in November and December for wildebeest migration, or May to October for dry season wildlife viewing. Compare verified safari operators through SafariFind before you book.
Liuwa Plain safari packages 2027: Prices and Best Time is a planning guide for one of Zambia's most remote safari areas. A short trip can cost about US$3,500 per person. A high end six day migration package can cost US$11,000 or more [2]. That wide gap matters when you compare camps, transport, group size, and meal plans.
Liuwa Plain is best known for seasonal wildebeest movement, wide grasslands, birdlife, and a strong sense of space. November and December suit travelers who want to follow migration. May through October suits visitors who prefer dry roads and resident wildlife viewing [2]. The right month depends on your main goal.
Quick answer: A Liuwa Plain safari in 2027 costs about US$3,500 for a four day explorer trip. Migration focused stays can reach US$11,000 or more. Choose November and December for wildebeest movement, or May to October for dry season game viewing. Flights and some transfers may cost extra.
This guide covers prices, seasons, trip lengths, camping options, and booking steps. It also explains why a low advertised rate does not always mean a lower final cost. SafariFind connects travelers with verified tour operators, package details, and authentic reviews, so you can check the full trip before paying a deposit.
Liuwa Plain safari packages are planned trips into Liuwa Plain National Park in western Zambia. They usually combine accommodation, meals, guided game drives, park access, and transfers. The package length can be four days, six days, ten days, or fourteen days, depending on the operator and route.
Liuwa Plain is known for open country and seasonal wildlife movement. The park suits travelers who want a quieter safari setting rather than a busy circuit. November and December bring the main migration season listed by safari sellers. May through October offers a drier period for resident wildlife viewing [2].
The word “remote” affects the price. Operators must plan transport, supplies, guides, camp staff, and emergency support across a less developed route. A four day explorer package at about US$3,500 per person is therefore very different from a six day migration package priced at US$11,000 or more [2].
King Lewanika Lodge is one luxury option listed for Liuwa Plains. Ker and Downey shows a 2027 rate of US$1,205 per person per night from 1 March through 31 December 2027 [3]. That nightly price gives you a useful benchmark. It also shows why a luxury trip can cost much more than a basic group camping safari.
SafariFind makes this comparison easier by bringing package information and verified operator profiles into one place. Compare Liuwa Plain safari package costs for 2027 before you request quotes, and check what each price includes.
Liuwa Plain matters because timing changes the trip. A visitor in November may focus on migration. A visitor in August may prefer dry roads, open views, and resident wildlife. Neither choice is automatically better. Your budget, travel dates, and wildlife goals should decide the month.
For travelers who want to add another Zambian park, SafariFind also lists planning guides for Kafue safari camps and 2027 prices. Kafue is a useful comparison when you want a broader Zambia route, but adding another park will increase travel time and the total quote.
Liuwa Plain safari packages cost about US$3,500 per person for a four day explorer trip, while a six day migration package can reach US$11,000 or more. Luxury accommodation can cost US$1,205 per person per night. A fourteen day camping safari is listed at €3,580 per person sharing [2][3][5].
| Name | Price | Duration | Rating | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Explorer package | About US$3,500 per person | 4 days | Not listed | Short Liuwa Plain visit |
| Migration package | US$11,000 or more per person | 6 days | Not listed | November to December migration travel |
| Liuwa and Luangwa itinerary | More than US$13,000 per person | Not listed | Not listed | Multi park luxury travel |
| Camping safari | €3,580 sharing, plus €200 single supplement | 14 days | Not listed | Small group camping |
| Luxury tented stay | US$1,205 per person per night | Nightly rate | Not listed | High comfort and private service |
The table shows why you should compare like with like. A package may quote a per person price, while a camp may show a nightly rate. One price may include transfers and guiding. Another may leave out flights, park fees, or single occupancy costs.
Trip length is the first cost driver. Four days suit a short visit. Six days allow more time for migration viewing. A fourteen day camping trip spreads transport and guiding across a longer route, but it still requires a larger time commitment.
Accommodation is the second driver. A camping safari listed by Bundu Adventures costs €3,580 per person sharing. The same listing adds a €200 single supplement and limits group size to four to ten participants [5]. That format can lower the price compared with private luxury travel.
Luxury camp rates sit at the other end. Ker and Downey lists US$1,205 per person per night for 2027 dates between 1 March and 31 December [3]. The rate is a starting point for accommodation planning, not a full air inclusive holiday price.
Flights and transfers also need attention. Responsible Travel lists a ten day Zambia safari from 3,285, excluding flights. Its listed 2027 departures include 27 March, 10 July, 17 July, 24 July, 7 August, 14 August, 21 August, 28 August, and 23 October [7]. The price shows how a broader Zambia trip may differ from a Liuwa only package.
Trying to keep costs below a fixed budget? Compare Zambia safari packages under US$2,000 for 2027, then ask a verified operator whether Liuwa Plain can fit your route. A Liuwa trip may require a higher budget because of its remote setting.
A Liuwa Plains Tented Camp listing shows a single tent rate from US$642. However, it also marks rates as unavailable for 1 January through 31 December 2027 [6]. Treat that figure as a historical or starting reference, not a confirmed 2027 booking price.
Prices change as camps release new dates. Request a written quote that lists accommodation, meals, park fees, transfers, guide services, flights, and single supplements. This simple check prevents a low headline price from becoming a costly surprise.
The best time to visit Liuwa Plain depends on your wildlife goal. November and December are the best months for the listed wildebeest migration season. May to October is the better choice for dry season resident wildlife viewing, easier planning, and a different view of the plains [2].
November and December are the main choice for migration focused Liuwa Plain safari packages. Safari sellers promote these months for wildebeest movement across the plains [2]. Travelers who want this event should ask where the camp will operate and how guides track wildlife during their dates.
Migration travel often costs more because demand and logistics rise together. A six day migration package is advertised at US$11,000 or more per person [2]. That price makes early planning sensible, especially if you want a private vehicle or a specific luxury camp.
May to October is promoted for dry season resident wildlife viewing [2]. These months can suit travelers who prefer a more predictable safari plan. The season also works well for people who want to combine Liuwa Plain with another Zambia destination.
Camping departures listed for 2027 include 27 May to 9 June, 12 to 25 June, and 7 to 20 November [5]. These dates give you practical planning points. They also show that group camping can cover both dry season and migration season.
Season does not work alone. Camp location, water levels, road conditions, and the guide team also shape the experience. Ask direct questions. A good operator will explain what your dates offer instead of promising every wildlife sighting.
SafariFind connects you with verified operators who can explain these details in a quote. You can also read authentic traveler reviews before choosing a camp, route, or group size. That extra research is worth the time when a migration trip costs thousands of dollars.
Start by choosing your travel month, trip length, and comfort level. Then compare two or three written quotes that show every included cost. For 2027, book early if you want November or December migration dates, luxury accommodation, or a small group departure.
Write down your dates, number of travelers, budget, and main wildlife goal. Decide whether you want migration, dry season viewing, camping, or luxury tents. A clear brief helps operators send useful quotes rather than broad price estimates.
For example, ask for a six day Liuwa Plain migration safari in November 2027. Then ask for a second quote for a four day explorer trip. The first option may cost US$11,000 or more. The shorter trip may cost about US$3,500 per person [2].
A camping program may use a shared price and a single supplement. The listed example costs €3,580 per person sharing, with a €200 single supplement [5]. A luxury lodge may use a nightly price instead. Ask the operator to turn that nightly rate into a full trip total.
Group size affects both cost and the feel of the safari. The listed camping program accepts four to ten participants [5]. A smaller group may offer more space and flexibility, but it can cost more. Confirm the minimum number needed for departure.
Some 2027 departures already appear in published programs. Those dates include late May, June, and November [5]. Responsible Travel also lists several 2027 Zambia departures between March and October [7]. Availability can change, so confirm every date before booking flights.
Liuwa Plain can be the main reason for your trip, or one part of a longer Zambia journey. A Liuwa and Luangwa itinerary is advertised above US$13,000 per person [2]. That route suits travelers with more time and a larger budget.
If you want walking activities elsewhere in Zambia, read the guide to Zambia walking safari packages for 2027. If you prefer a water based route, compare Lower Zambezi packages and fees. These options help you decide whether Liuwa should stand alone or join a wider itinerary.
Ready to compare the numbers? Request a Liuwa Plain safari quote through SafariFind and ask verified operators to show the full 2027 cost, inclusions, and available dates.
Do not judge a safari by the cheapest headline price. Check the transfer plan, camp location, group size, and number of game viewing days. A package that costs more may include better access or a private vehicle. A cheaper package may work well if you accept shared camping and fixed dates.
Read reviews with care. Look for comments about guides, food, camp service, transfers, and how the operator handled changes. SafariFind helps travelers compare operators and read authentic reviews in one marketplace. That gives you more detail than a short price line.
Liuwa Plain safari packages cost about US$3,500 per person for a four day explorer trip. A six day migration package can cost US$11,000 or more. Luxury accommodation is listed at US$1,205 per person per night for 2027 dates [2][3].
November and December are the best months for the listed wildebeest migration season. May to October is better for dry season resident wildlife viewing. Choose your dates based on migration interest, road access, and the type of camp you want [2].
You need four days for a short explorer trip and about six days for a migration focused safari. Longer camping programs can last fourteen days. A longer stay gives you more time in the park, but it also raises transport and accommodation costs.
Liuwa Plain is suitable for camping safaris. One listed fourteen day program costs €3,580 per person sharing, adds a €200 single supplement, and accepts four to ten participants [5]. Confirm equipment, meals, transfers, and camp locations before booking.
Some Liuwa Plain 2027 rates and departures are available, but not every camp has released prices. One tented camp listing shows a starting single tent rate of US$642 while marking 2027 rates unavailable for the full year [6]. Ask for a current written quote.

"On 10.9. until 1.10. In 2023, I went on a trip to Botswana, Zimbabwe and a short visit to Zambia with my clients - friends. I carefully prepared the trip in cooperation with the manager of Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours, Mr. Tongesai Mutematsaka. After arriving in Gaborone we organized a short tour of the city ourselves and met Tongesai in Maun. Tongesai was our driver and guide practically the whole way. We visited the Okavango River Delta and its surroundings (Moremi Reserve, Mokoro boat cruise, flight over the Okavango Delta. This was followed by a visit to the Makgadikgadi Salt Flats, then the Elephant Sands area and in Botswana Chobe National Park with a cruise on the Chobe River. Then we crossed to Zimbabwe, which was the main part of our journey. In the Victoria Falls area, we visited the Monde settlement, took a helicopter flight over Victoria Falls, followed by a cruise on the Zambezi River as part of a visit to the national park of the same name. We also walked past Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwean side and had a Boma dinner in the evening (too much of a "tourist thing"). On the Zambian side of the falls we saw white rhinos in Mosi - oa - Tunya National Park, then visited the museum in Livingstone and walked the Zambian side of the falls. From Victoria Falls, we headed to Hwange National Park, where we had a beautiful program - a safari, and after Hwange, there was also a very interesting program in Matobo National Park (there, among other things, white rhinos (a mother with her little daughter), beautiful rock formations and prehistoric cave drawings. The next place visited was Khami with very interesting buildings, and then we visited the ruins of Great Zimbabwe, which are among the most important world monuments. This was followed by a visit to the Chinhoya Karst and finally the gallery in Harare. I would also like to comment on the provision of services: Accommodation in the hotels was at the standard, expected level, only the service at the Great Zimbabwe Hotel was rather lazy. Accommodation in lodges - very good and the best accommodation was in Iganyana tented camp in Hwange National Park, mainly due to the extraordinary professionalism and very friendly attitude of the staff there towards us, the visitors. I must also highly praise all the local guides we met everywhere, e.g. in Chobe, Hwange and Matobo National Parks. I want to emphasize that this journey is one of the most interesting that I have made around the world. I believe that my clients - friends were also satisfied with the set. Thanks to the travel agency Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours and Mr. Tongesai Mutematsaka. I recommend Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours to anyone considering a trip to Zimbabwe."

"Tongesai was awesome from the start. I knew he was a good tour operator because he answered all of my questions in a timely manner and no question was ever stupid. Everything was just as he said once we arrived and really it was better. We prepared for about a year in advance for this trip and the tour operator was instrumental and making this trip a success. I highly recommend this tour operator to anyone who wants to visit Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Botswana. Give Tongesai a call or email, and you will 100% not be disappointed. I have a very deep understanding of border crossing and transportation challenges in many African countries at this point because of the efforts of the tour operator. This makes my wife and I have very comfortable to approach another visit or look at visiting a different African country."
