Madikwe Game Reserve safari packages 2027 offer Big Five wildlife, malaria-free travel, and lodge stays in a 75,000-hectare reserve in South Africa. Published examples include a five-day safari from $4,050 per person. Start planning early, compare lodge space, and use SafariFind to review verified operators and request quotes.
Madikwe has a rare safari advantage. You can look for the Big Five in a 75,000-hectare reserve without malaria risk. [1]
Madikwe Game Reserve Safari Packages 2027 Booking Guide content helps you plan a lodge-based safari in South Africa. Madikwe is a large, malaria-free Big Five reserve. It suits travelers who want private game drives, a quieter setting, and easy links with Johannesburg or Sun City.
Madikwe Game Reserve safari packages 2027 start at a published example of $4,050 per person for five days. Shorter trips also run from Johannesburg, with one operator stating a 7:00 a.m. pickup and about five hours of road travel. Lodge rates, group size, and room type change the final cost.
This guide explains what Madikwe offers, how to read package prices, and how to book for 2027. It also covers transfers, lodge capacity, family needs, and route ideas. SafariFind connects travelers with verified tour operators, package details, and authentic reviews, so you can compare the parts that matter before paying a deposit.
Madikwe Game Reserve safari packages 2027 are lodge-based trips that combine accommodation, game drives, and travel into or around the reserve. The reserve covers 75,000 hectares and is malaria-free. It is known for Big Five wildlife, private safari lodges, and access from Johannesburg. [1]
Madikwe Game Reserve is in South Africa, near the Botswana border. The supplied rack-rate material describes the reserve as a rolling-hills setting for a five-star African safari. [1] That setting matters when you choose a package. A lodge stay is very different from a basic park visit with public camping.
Known for: Madikwe is known for lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo. The reserve’s malaria-free status is one of its clearest planning benefits. [1] Families often look at this point first, especially when grandparents or young children are joining the trip.
Madikwe safari packages usually focus on early and late game drives. Your lodge then becomes the base for meals, rest, and time between drives. Ask each operator what the price includes. Some packages combine transport and accommodation, while others price transfers separately.
Tuningi Safari Lodge accommodates up to 16 guests. Its layout includes four Luxury Suites and two double Family Suites. [1] This small capacity can suit travelers who want a quiet camp and a more personal stay. It also means that popular family dates may fill early.
Tuningi’s 2027 rack-rate material describes the lodge as five-star and newly refurbished. [1] That description gives you a useful benchmark when comparing lodge standards. Still, you should check the room category, board plan, transfers, and activities in the written quote.
South Africa gives you room to build a longer route around Madikwe. You can pair it with a stay in Kruger National Park, visit Phinda Private Game Reserve, or add time in Durban. Each choice changes the transfer plan and total budget.
Explore Madikwe safari packages and compare 2027 lodge options before you choose dates. SafariFind lets you review package details and compare verified operators.
Madikwe safari packages cost at least $4,050 per person in one published five-day Big Five example. [8] This is a reference price, not a fixed rate for every lodge. Your final quote depends on dates, room type, number of guests, transfers, and what the operator includes.
A five-day Madikwe Big 5 Safari Escape is listed from $4,050 per person. [8] The same listing gives an example search for two adults departing New York City between 14 and 21 November 2027. [8] Treat that date as an example itinerary search, not a promise of availability.
Madikwe lodge rates vary by property and group size. Tuningi’s 2027 rack-rate document provides lodge-level pricing information, while other published offers use different terms. [1] Ask whether the quote includes accommodation, meals, scheduled drives, airport transfers, park fees, and flights.
Kuoni lists a complimentary fourth night at Madikwe Safari Lodge when guests stay for three nights. The offer excludes stays from 20 December 2026 through 9 January 2027. [5] A free-night offer can reduce the average nightly cost, but you must check the full rate and blackout terms.
| Name | Price | Duration | Rating | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Madikwe Big 5 Safari Escape | From $4,050 per person [8] | 5 days | Not stated in source | Travelers seeking a packaged Big Five stay |
| Madikwe Safari Lodge offer | Rate varies by dates and room | 4 nights when 3 are paid [5] | 5 stars listed by Kuoni [5] | Guests who can use the complimentary-night offer |
| Johannesburg Madikwe safari | Price varies by operator | 3 days | Not stated in source | Short trips with road transfers |
Price range: use $4,050 per person as the published five-day reference point. [8] Do not compare that figure with a three-day quote until you confirm inclusions. A lower price may exclude flights, transfers, drinks, or private game drives.
Request a 2027 Madikwe safari quote from verified operators and ask for the same inclusions in every proposal. SafariFind can help you compare tour operators, prices, and authentic traveler reviews in one place.
For a wider South Africa route, compare this guide with the South Africa safari itinerary for 10 days in 2027. That route format can help you decide whether Madikwe should be your only reserve or one stop on a longer trip.
Plan a Madikwe safari by choosing the lodge first, then matching transfers and trip length to your dates. A three-day trip works for a short Johannesburg connection. A five-day stay gives you more time for game drives, lodge rest, and a slower pace.
Getting there: one three-day Madikwe safari from Johannesburg states a 7:00 a.m. pickup and about five hours of travel to the reserve. [6] That timing makes Madikwe practical for travelers starting in Johannesburg or Sandton. Confirm the pickup area, vehicle type, arrival time, and return plan before payment.
Johannesburg is not the only route idea. Published package examples combine Madikwe with Cape Town and Sun City in an eight-night malaria-free itinerary. Another example combines Madikwe, Sun City, and the Kalahari over 10 nights. [7] These routes suit travelers who want city time and more than one safari setting.
Start with your 2027 dates. Then choose three or five nights, depending on your budget. After that, request quotes that show lodge name, room type, transfer plan, meals, game drives, and cancellation terms. This order prevents a low headline price from hiding a missing service.
Tuningi Safari Lodge is a useful example for families because it lists two double Family Suites. [1] A family should still ask how many adults and children each suite accepts. Room labels do not always explain bed layout, child policy, or guide arrangements.
Madikwe is also easy to compare with other South African wildlife areas. Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Game Reserve and Mapungubwe National Park can support a different route plan. Travelers heading toward KwaZulu-Natal may also compare iSimangaliso Wetland Park with a Madikwe stay.
Pack neutral clothing, closed shoes, sun protection, and a warm layer for early drives. Your operator should explain luggage limits and laundry service. Ask about meals, drinks, Wi-Fi, charging, and emergency contact procedures before you leave home.
SafariFind reviews can help you spot details that price pages miss. Look for comments about guide quality, transfer timing, room comfort, and how the operator handled changes. A verified review is more useful when it describes a real itinerary and specific dates.
For travelers comparing different safari styles, the guide to South Africa walking safari packages in 2027 explains why a walking trip needs different planning. Madikwe lodge packages usually focus on vehicle-based game drives, so check the activity list carefully.
Madikwe Game Reserve safari packages cost from $4,050 per person in a published five-day Big Five safari example. [8] Final prices vary by lodge, room type, group size, dates, transfers, and included activities.
Madikwe Game Reserve is described as a 75,000-hectare malaria-free reserve with Big Five wildlife. [1] This makes it a practical choice for travelers who want a lodge safari without choosing a malaria area.
A three-day Madikwe safari suits a short trip from Johannesburg. A five-day package gives you more time for game drives and lodge activities. Your best duration depends on your route, budget, and interest in adding Sun City or another South African destination.
A published three-day Madikwe safari example collects guests from Johannesburg or Sandton at 7:00 a.m. and takes about five hours to reach the reserve. [6] Confirm the exact pickup point, vehicle, road plan, and return time with your operator.
Kuoni lists a complimentary fourth night at Madikwe Safari Lodge when guests stay for three nights. [5] The offer excludes stays from 20 December 2026 through 9 January 2027, so confirm the promotion and final rate for your dates.
You can compare Madikwe Game Reserve safari packages on SafariFind, where travelers can review verified operators, compare prices, and read authentic reviews. Request a written quote that lists lodge details, transfers, meals, activities, and cancellation terms.
Madikwe Game Reserve safari packages 2027 are a strong choice for travelers who want Big Five wildlife in a malaria-free South African reserve. Madikwe covers 75,000 hectares, and Tuningi Safari Lodge offers space for up to 16 guests in six suites. [1] A published five-day package starts at $4,050 per person. [8]
Choose three days if you need a quick Johannesburg trip. Choose five days if you want more game drives and time at the lodge. Check the fourth-night offer at Madikwe Safari Lodge, but note the 20 December 2026 to 9 January 2027 exclusion. [5]
Compare every quote by its inclusions, not its headline price. Check transfers, room type, meals, activities, and reviews. Compare verified Madikwe safari packages on SafariFind, then request a quote from an operator that matches your dates and budget. Planning in September 2026 gives you time to secure the right 2027 lodge and route.
Madikwe works well on its own or beside Sun City, Cape Town, the Kalahari, or another South African reserve. Your next step is simple. Set your dates, choose your trip length, and compare the real details before you book.

"Communications with Mack via email were swift and comprehensible. We were picked up at the airport on arrival by our guide, Thomas, who would be with us for the whole week. We signed up for a budget camping safari, and we had a great time! The campsites were nicer than I thought they would be, and the Kiliholidays team did a great job of taking care of us the whole trip. Thomas was very accommodating, and our 'stomach engineer' did a fantastic job the whole trip. My partner and I were very impressed by the quality of the food. Thomas was an incredible driver; a few times we had to stop and help other drivers who were stuck! This was my second visit to East Africa, and I will definitely book with Kiliholidays for my third trip :) A few tips for other travelers: The sleeping mattress was a bit thin for me (my partner had no trouble!), but I found that sleeping on my back instead of my side helped. If you have sensitive hips, I'd recommend bringing something to use as a cushion, or possibly arranging for an extra mattress. The tent was high-quality and the sleeping bags were warm. We stayed in Mto wa Mbu a few nights and it was quite hot there. We brought sleeping sacks (very thin) and used those instead. Bring LOTS of insect repellent and use it often (biting flies in the daytime, mosquitoes at night). Same with hand sanitizer (public campsite toilets don't usually have soap). Granola bars are a good idea, too, if you like to snack between meals. There's not a lot of access to ice, so if you like an evening adult-beverage, just ask your guide to stop before you leave Arusha to pick up some wine. We picked up a 5-liter box of South African wine for about 25euros and it was very convenient (bring your own cups!)."

"This is the second time I have traveled with my family with GoExplore. The first time was an amazing Uganda experience (already reviewed) and this second experience with my husband to Kenya was equally amazing. Brian organized organized both tours for me and tailored them according to my wishes. As this is still the time of unsure flights and Covid difficulties, he was easily able to adapt to some changes with travel that were beyond our control. GoExplore is a boutique business that is very personalized and offers you the equal and more than a large corporate operator. The price point is compatible with group tours but you will have your own personal driver and guide for yourself and there is nothing to compare with this luxury. Because of that, you will also be able to adapt your days schedule if you wish according what you want and not what is a groups plan. We were completely happy and satisfied with all aspects of our travel (on both trips). Brian knows the safari tour industry and is constantly working to improve the business, his knowledge about lodges, the parks, restaurants and all minute aspects of the tour. He will be able to personally attest to the quality of whatever product he is recommending to you. Sammi was our driver in Kenya and we can only say that he was amazing. He knew more about wildlife (and every birds name and details) than an encyclopedia, was an amazingly adept driver in sometimes rough conditions (traffic, rough park roads, etc.) and looked out for our interests. While respecting the animals, he went above and beyond trying to make sure we saw every different animal we could. We appreciated that he obviously respected and cared about the animals we were seeing. (Not all safari drivers do and will do anything to try to get to see something up close, even while encroaching too much on their space.) We had a minor vehicle difficulty and Sammi made sure that everything went smoothly and we didn't miss a minute of our trip or schedule. He is quite an asset to GoExplore. Sammi only drives on Kenya trips but if you go to Uganda, I highly recommend Moses who was equally great. Overall, the trip was an unforgettable trip of a lifetime. If you haven't gone on a safari before, you should trip to put this on your life plan. There is nothing like it and when you plan it, you want a safari operator that will listen to your needs, wants, and budget and tailor it to fit you. GoExplore will do that in a personal way. Our lodges that Brian picked were magical and the food was outstanding. There was nothing about our trip that we would have changed. I highly recommend GoExplore if you want to travel to any of the countries they operate in. If not those countries, then reconsider them over the more commercialized ones (such as South Africa) and you won't be disappointed."

"We just finished a 2-week tour of South Africa with extension to Victoria Falls and the Monde Village Cultural Experience was one of the highlights of the entire trip. It is a must-do for anyone in the area. Tongesai (our guide) was very personable and worked with us to customize the experience. He was flexible and took time to explain many things that aren't part of the "regular tour". We had great conversations throughout the tour. He ended up dropping us off so late (8:30pm), his wife had to call him twice. He took a few pictures with us so he had alibi. :) Mr Ncube (our village host) and his family were welcoming and excited to show us their way of life. Mr Ncube's explanations of his culture, family structure, farming struggles, and discussions on many topics showed us a simple way of life, much different than our modern American ways, but it made so much sense. People here fight hard to live but they do it with a smile. They may be poor, but not in spirit. We asked many questions and received questions ourselves. It was as if I was visiting an uncle living in a rural part of a third-world country. This family made us felt at home. We wish we had more time to sit under the summer kitchen during a raining day, sharing food and chatting with these folks. We wish we could sit in the winter kitchen to hear him teach his children and grandchildren. Needless to say, we spent 4+ hrs at this experience and wanted more. I am now back to "civilization" in a nice Qatari hotel, but I kept thinking about my time in the simple Monde Village. What a breath of fresh air that was. I brought some extra clothes to give, but ended up giving as much as I could live without for the rest of my trip. A pair of sandals doesn't mean much to me, but it means a lot to people in these villages. This is 30+ hrs flight from home so it is a one-time chance to help; I had to make the best of it. If I can come back to this area, I will definitely bring more people to share in this amazing experience. I encourage all who come to Victoria Falls to add this cultural experience to their itinerary."

"Cultural Vibes Travel and Tours has proved to be excellent yet again as this is now the third time, we have used them and a much-needed break after almost 3 years with the Covid pandemic. Tongesai is extremely reliable, professional, knowledgeable and does everything to make your trip a memorable experience. Compared to local larger companies, Tongesai’s individual package rates are more reasonable and come with a customized touch. We felt that our holiday with Tongesai was much better and suited us more so than if we had booked through a larger company. His individual tailoring, personal involvement and attention to detail pays off in the smooth running of your trip. Our visits to the Victoria Falls, both sides from Zimbabwe and Zambia were magnificent and never cease to amaze us. On this trip Tongesai arranged for a private sunset cruise on the Zambezi just for our family of four instead of on the larger vessels, which was a very pleasant alternative. The boat trip in Chobe is magical and a must if you venture into Botswana. Wildlife was in abundance, including lion, elephant, wildebeest, buffalo, puku, kudu, bushbuck, waterbuck, impala, gemsbok, steenbok, sable and roan antelope, etc. We even saw a relative of Cecil, the famous black-maned lion, ‘once a true king of Hwange National Park’. I have no hesitation in recommending the company for arranging tours in Zimbabwe, Zambia and Botswana - we will definitely be seeing him again. He is currently setting up arrangements with colleagues in Kruger National Park to venture into South Africa and I wish him every success with that."

"We booked our Zimbabwe trip with Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours following a recommendation from Nhongo Safaris in South Africa. Tongesai is a great communicator, and the booking process was quick, easy, and well organized. We were happy with the quote provided and were able to easily pay online. Tongesai was waiting for us at Victoria Falls Airport to take us to our accommodation. He has arranged an amazing whirlwind 48 hour visit, that was packed with a sunset cruise on the Zambezi, Morning Game drive, he accompanied us on an amazing walk of the Victoria falls and arranged an African experience dinner in the evening. It was so memorable, and everything we wanted! Overall, it was an fantastic trip, with a great guide, and we would highly recommend it for anyone considering a trip to Victoria Falls. For our next visit, we will definitely be reaching out to Tongesai and thoroughly recommend to all our friends."
