Zimbabwe remains an important stronghold for African lions, but reliable, current national population data are limited. Conservation priorities in 2026 include protecting large connected landscapes, reducing snaring and human-lion conflict, improving monitoring and funding, and ensuring tourism benefits local communities.

BookMundi lists 50 Livingstone tours with 65,100 customer reviews, and trip lengths range from 2 to 56 days.[6]
Livingstone Zambia is a gateway to Victoria Falls, the Zambezi River, wildlife walks, and cultural tours. Tour prices start from about $2,400, while luxury journeys reach $20,770 or more. In 2027, July is a listed departure month for premium Zambia travel, but final prices depend on season, room type, flights, and group size.
Livingstone Zambia: 12 Things to Do & Tour Prices 2027 is a practical guide for planning a first visit to southern Zambia. Livingstone is a colonial-era town near the Zambezi River and Victoria Falls.[8] It combines dramatic scenery, river activities, wildlife, museums, and local culture in one easy base.
Livingstone also works well as the first stop on a longer safari. The supplied 2027 Inspirato itinerary begins in Livingstone and continues to Lower Zambezi National Park.[8] Therefore, you can build a short Falls break or a longer Zambia safari from the same starting point.
Prices vary widely. AffordableTours lists a 12-day Zambia-region itinerary at $7,199 per person, reduced from $9,099.[3] Adventure Life lists a 13-day river-cruise itinerary at $16,145 and a 17-day Golden Trails itinerary at $20,770.[2] These examples show why you should compare inclusions carefully.
Quick answer: Livingstone is best for travelers who want Victoria Falls, Zambezi River cruises, and easy access to wildlife experiences. Tour prices begin around $2,400, while premium 2027 trips cost $7,199 to $20,770 or more. Compare the number of days, activities, lodging, flights, deposits, and group size before booking.
SafariFind connects travelers with verified tour operators and authentic traveler reviews. Use this guide to choose your activities first. Then compare the right package type instead of choosing only by the lowest headline price.
Livingstone is known for its position beside the Zambezi River and its role as a gateway to Victoria Falls. The town also offers walking safaris, river cruises, cultural visits, and museum experiences. These choices make Livingstone useful for couples, families, first-time safari guests, and travelers adding Zambia to a wider southern Africa route.
Victoria Falls is the main reason many visitors choose Livingstone. The destination supports several types of tours, from sightseeing visits to active river adventures. A Livingstone stay lets you place the Falls at the center of a short trip or combine it with wildlife areas farther into Zambia.
The Zambezi River is central to Livingstone’s travel appeal. TourRadar lists Zambezi River cruises among the area’s key experiences.[4] Cruise options suit travelers who want a slower activity after a busy Falls visit. Premium itineraries may also include a Zambezi Queen cruise, as shown in Adventure Life’s 17-day Golden Trails itinerary.[2]
White-water rafting is one of the adventure options linked with the Victoria Falls area. MoAfrika Tours also highlights white-water rafting, bungee jumping, tiger fishing, and leisurely river cruises for visitors based in Livingstone.[5] Choose these activities if you want a high-energy trip rather than a sightseeing-only schedule.
Bungee jumping gives thrill-seekers a clear activity to add around Victoria Falls. It appears among the adventure experiences promoted for travelers in Livingstone.[5] Check the operator’s safety rules, weather limits, transfer times, and cancellation policy before you pay for the activity.
Tiger fishing is another Zambezi-based option mentioned for Livingstone visitors.[5] It creates a different kind of river day from a cruise or Falls walk. Ask whether equipment, permits, transfers, meals, and guide services are included in the quoted price.
Compare Livingstone and Victoria Falls safari packages with river activities included before choosing your 2027 dates.
Livingstone offers 12 strong activities when you combine Falls sightseeing, river time, wildlife, culture, and regional safari travel. The best plan depends on your pace. A two-day visit can focus on the Falls and river. A longer itinerary can add wildlife walks, cultural stops, and onward travel to Lower Zambezi National Park.
Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park offers walking safaris that track white rhinos, according to TourRadar.[4] This experience adds wildlife to a Livingstone trip without requiring a long transfer to another major safari area. Walking also changes the way you read tracks, plants, sounds, and animal movement.
The Livingstone Museum is part of the cultural experience described in Zambia tour listings.[4] It gives your trip a town-based activity alongside outdoor adventures. Museum visits also work well during a midday break, before a river cruise, or on a departure day.
Village homestays in Chikankata district are included among the cultural experiences described by TourRadar.[4] This type of visit helps travelers learn through local community contact rather than viewing Zambia only from a safari vehicle. Confirm what the visit includes and how the operator supports the host community.
Cultural immersion is a major theme in Livingstone-area and Zambia-region tours. AffordableTours features a traveler review praising art, music, dance, and learning about local lives.[3] Look for clear activity details, local guides, and a respectful visitor policy when comparing cultural packages.
Lower Zambezi National Park is a logical extension for travelers who want more than Livingstone. The 2027 Inspirato route begins in Livingstone and continues to Lower Zambezi National Park.[8] This pairing creates a simple route from Falls and river scenery to a wider Zambia safari.
Multi-country itineraries can link Livingstone with Botswana, South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Tanzania. Adventure Life’s Golden Trails of Africa itinerary includes Johannesburg, Victoria Falls, Tanzania wildlife, and a Zambezi Queen cruise over 17 days.[2] This option suits travelers who want varied landscapes and a longer holiday.
Livingstone can serve as the first chapter of a wider Zambia journey. Travelers can continue planning through SafariFind’s guide to South Luangwa safari packages in 2027 or review the seven-day South Luangwa itinerary. Longer routes suit guests who want several parks rather than one base.
These 12 ideas do not all fit into one weekend. Pick two or three core experiences first. Then add activities that match your budget, energy, and transfer time.
Livingstone tour prices range from about $2,400 for lower-cost safari options to more than $20,000 for luxury, multi-country journeys. The published examples below show the spread. They are comparison points, not one fixed market rate. Always check what the price includes before treating it as your final trip budget.
| Name | Price | Duration | Rating | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Livingstone safari tours | From about $2,400 | Not specified | Varies | Lower-cost safari planning |
| Zambia-region itinerary | $7,199 per person | 12 days | Not specified | Multi-country travelers and groups up to 22 |

The $7,199 Zambia-region itinerary includes a reduced price from $9,099 and has a maximum group size of 22.[3] The $19,300 Ultimate Zambia trip lists a $2,900 deposit for July 2027.[7] Scott Dunn says its price is a guideline based on two people sharing.[7]
Request a quote from verified safari operators for your 2027 budget and ask for a full list of inclusions.
Peak travel periods, exchange rates, flight class, and room type can materially change the final cost.[7] Transfers, park fees, meals, drinks, insurance, visas, and optional activities can also affect the total. Do not compare a basic land-only rate with a luxury package that includes flights and private guiding.
SafariFind helps you compare packages, prices, operators, and authentic reviews in one place. A clear quote makes it easier to compare value, not just the advertised starting price.
Plan Livingstone by choosing your trip length, main activity, and total budget first. Two to three days can cover the Falls, a river experience, and one cultural stop. Longer journeys can add Mosi-oa-Tunya wildlife walks, Lower Zambezi National Park, or a wider southern Africa itinerary.
Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport is the named airport destination for Livingstone travel planning. The town’s location near the Zambezi River and Victoria Falls makes it a practical first stop.[8] Confirm airport transfers with your operator before arrival.
Zambia also supports longer routes beyond Livingstone. Travelers can connect the town with Lower Zambezi National Park or continue toward other regions. The Zambia safari holidays guide for 2027 can help you think about wider lake and safari combinations.
A travel visa is required for the Road Scholar African safari example and must be obtained in advance.[1] That source says the visa is included in the trip cost and that travelers receive information about required entry documents.[1] Your own operator may use different rules, so confirm your nationality, visa type, and package inclusions before departure.
BookMundi lists Livingstone tours from 2 to 56 days.[6] A two-day plan suits a quick Victoria Falls stop. A seven-day plan allows more space for river time, cultural visits, and wildlife. A 12- to 17-day route suits travelers who want several countries or parks.
Compare the following details before paying a deposit:
Responsible travel also matters. Read SafariFind’s guide to how safari tourism funds conservation in Zambia. Ask operators how they support local guides, communities, wildlife protection, and visitor safety.
First-time visitor: Choose Victoria Falls, a Zambezi cruise, and the Livingstone Museum. This plan mixes scenery, water, and history without a rushed schedule.
Wildlife traveler: Add a white-rhino walking safari in Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park. Then consider a longer route to Lower Zambezi National Park.
Luxury traveler: Compare the $16,145 river-cruise example with the $19,300 Ultimate Zambia trip. Check sharing rules, deposits, and room categories.[2][7]
Livingstone Zambia is best known as a gateway to Victoria Falls and the Zambezi River. Visitors can also choose river cruises, white-water rafting, bungee jumping, tiger fishing, cultural visits, and white-rhino walking safaris in Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park.[4][5]
Livingstone tours cost from about $2,400 at the lower end, while published luxury examples reach $19,300 to $20,770. A 12-day Zambia-region itinerary is listed at $7,199 per person, and a 13-day river-cruise itinerary costs $16,145.[2][3][7]
You need at least two days for a short Livingstone visit focused on Victoria Falls and one river activity. BookMundi lists trips from 2 to 56 days.[6] Seven days gives you more time for culture, wildlife walks, and relaxed transfers.
Besides visiting Victoria Falls, you can take a Zambezi River cruise, try rafting, bungee jumping, or tiger fishing, and visit the Livingstone Museum. You can also join a village homestay or track white rhinos on foot in Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park.[4][5]
July 2027 is a confirmed departure period for Scott Dunn’s Ultimate Zambia trip, which starts from $19,300.[7] Travel conditions and activity availability depend on the operator and itinerary, so ask for current dates, room options, and final pricing before booking.

"On 10.9. until 1.10. In 2023, I went on a trip to Botswana, Zimbabwe and a short visit to Zambia with my clients - friends. I carefully prepared the trip in cooperation with the manager of Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours, Mr. Tongesai Mutematsaka. After arriving in Gaborone we organized a short tour of the city ourselves and met Tongesai in Maun. Tongesai was our driver and guide practically the whole way. We visited the Okavango River Delta and its surroundings (Moremi Reserve, Mokoro boat cruise, flight over the Okavango Delta. This was followed by a visit to the Makgadikgadi Salt Flats, then the Elephant Sands area and in Botswana Chobe National Park with a cruise on the Chobe River. Then we crossed to Zimbabwe, which was the main part of our journey. In the Victoria Falls area, we visited the Monde settlement, took a helicopter flight over Victoria Falls, followed by a cruise on the Zambezi River as part of a visit to the national park of the same name. We also walked past Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwean side and had a Boma dinner in the evening (too much of a "tourist thing"). On the Zambian side of the falls we saw white rhinos in Mosi - oa - Tunya National Park, then visited the museum in Livingstone and walked the Zambian side of the falls. From Victoria Falls, we headed to Hwange National Park, where we had a beautiful program - a safari, and after Hwange, there was also a very interesting program in Matobo National Park (there, among other things, white rhinos (a mother with her little daughter), beautiful rock formations and prehistoric cave drawings. The next place visited was Khami with very interesting buildings, and then we visited the ruins of Great Zimbabwe, which are among the most important world monuments. This was followed by a visit to the Chinhoya Karst and finally the gallery in Harare. I would also like to comment on the provision of services: Accommodation in the hotels was at the standard, expected level, only the service at the Great Zimbabwe Hotel was rather lazy. Accommodation in lodges - very good and the best accommodation was in Iganyana tented camp in Hwange National Park, mainly due to the extraordinary professionalism and very friendly attitude of the staff there towards us, the visitors. I must also highly praise all the local guides we met everywhere, e.g. in Chobe, Hwange and Matobo National Parks. I want to emphasize that this journey is one of the most interesting that I have made around the world. I believe that my clients - friends were also satisfied with the set. Thanks to the travel agency Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours and Mr. Tongesai Mutematsaka. I recommend Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours to anyone considering a trip to Zimbabwe."

"Tongesai was awesome from the start. I knew he was a good tour operator because he answered all of my questions in a timely manner and no question was ever stupid. Everything was just as he said once we arrived and really it was better. We prepared for about a year in advance for this trip and the tour operator was instrumental and making this trip a success. I highly recommend this tour operator to anyone who wants to visit Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Botswana. Give Tongesai a call or email, and you will 100% not be disappointed. I have a very deep understanding of border crossing and transportation challenges in many African countries at this point because of the efforts of the tour operator. This makes my wife and I have very comfortable to approach another visit or look at visiting a different African country."
