The best lodges in Moremi Game Reserve 2027: Prices Compared range from US$394 to more than US$5,000 per person per night. Moremi is in northern Botswana, within the Okavango Delta region. May to October is the main travel season, with dry roads, strong wildlife viewing, and water activities in flood areas. SafariFind helps you compare verified operators, lodge packages, prices, and traveler reviews.
Moremi has luxury suites, classic tented camps, and some of Botswana's highest nightly rates. Mombo Camp reaches US$5,345 per person per night, while Nokanyana Lodge starts at US$394. [4]
At a glance
Cost: US$394 to US$5,345 per person per night, based on listed lodge rates. [2] [3] [4]
Best time: May to October for the main peak travel period. [5]
Accommodation: Tented camps, safari lodges, and luxury suites. [2]
Getting there: Fly from Maun by chartered aircraft to airstrips in or near Moremi. [7]
Activities: Game drives, night drives, guided walks, and water activities during flood months. [5]
Best for: Wildlife lovers, couples, families, and travelers seeking private safari camps.
Moremi Game Reserve lodge prices in 2027 depend on the camp, room type, season, and safari style. The reserve gives you a choice between simple canvas tents and high-end suites with private service. That spread matters. A lodge at US$394 per night creates a very different budget from a camp above US$2,800.
Quick answer: The best lodge depends on your budget and safari goals. Choose Nokanyana Lodge for the lowest listed nightly rate, Camp Moremi for a mid-range lodge option, and Mombo or Xigera for a luxury stay. Compare the full package, because flights, meals, transfers, and activities can shape the final cost.
Moremi Game Reserve sits within the Okavango Delta area of Botswana. The area is known for wildlife drives, water channels, seasonal floods, and camps reached by light aircraft. A lodge stay can feel remote, yet Maun remains the main starting point for many visitors. [7]
This guide compares the listed prices available as of November 2026 for travel in 2027. Rates are useful planning figures, not a promise that every date will cost the same. Ask operators to confirm the exact room, meal plan, transfer, and travel dates before you pay.
What are the best lodges in Moremi Game Reserve 2027?
The best lodges in Moremi Game Reserve 2027 fall into three clear groups. Nokanyana Lodge suits travelers watching their budget. Camp Moremi offers a middle price point. Xigera, Tawana, Camp Xakanaxa, and Mombo target travelers who want more space, service, or exclusivity.
Moremi accommodation ranges from comfortable tented camps to luxury safari lodges. [2] That range makes the reserve useful for different types of trips. You can plan a first Botswana safari around cost, wildlife, room style, or access to land and water activities.
Luxury lodge planning at a lower listed starting rate
Camp Moremi
From US$690
Mid-range lodge comfort
Tawana
From US$1,895
High-end safari stays
Camp Xakanaxa
From US$2,859
Luxury camp travel
Mombo Camp
US$2,889 to US$5,345
Top-end luxury and private suites
Xigera Safari Lodge has a listed starting price of US$660 per person per night. [3] The lodge is therefore much easier to compare with Camp Moremi than with Mombo's highest rate. The final figure still depends on the booking details and travel date.
Mombo Camp has nine suites plus Little Mombo. Its listed price range is US$2,889 to US$5,345 per person per night. [4] That makes Mombo one of the most expensive choices in this comparison. It may suit travelers who place privacy and high-end service above price.
What the price can change
A nightly rate does not always tell you the total trip cost. Ask whether the quote includes accommodation, meals, game drives, drinks, park fees, flights, and transfers. Two lodges may show similar nightly prices but include different parts of the safari.
A 10-day private Botswana tour that includes Moremi is listed at R$16,525 to R$28,623 per person for a mid-range lodge and tented-camp itinerary. [6] This figure covers a wider route, so it is not a direct one-night lodge comparison. It does show how a multi-stop Botswana safari can cost more than the lodge rate alone.
Choose a Moremi lodge by matching your budget, preferred activities, and access needs. Start with the nightly rate, then check what the package includes. A lower room price may not mean a lower trip price if flights or transfers sit outside the quote.
Choose by budget
Nokanyana Lodge is the clearest lower-price option in the listed comparison, at US$394 per person per night. Camp Moremi starts at US$690. These options give travelers a way to experience Moremi without starting at the reserve's highest luxury rates.
Xigera Safari Lodge starts at US$660 in the listed rate. [3] Tawana starts at US$1,895, while Camp Xakanaxa starts at US$2,859. These prices place the lodges in different budget groups, so make a short list before requesting quotes.
Moremi camps include tented accommodation and lodge rooms. [2] Tented camps can give you a closer sense of the bush, while lodge rooms may suit travelers who want more fixed structure. The word "tent" does not always mean basic. Some tented camps sit at the luxury end of the market.
Mombo Camp has nine suites and Little Mombo. [4] That makes its layout different from a larger lodge with many rooms. Ask how many guests the camp accepts, how private the units are, and whether the rate covers shared or private activities.
Choose by activities
Moremi safari activities include off-road game viewing, spotlit night drives, guided walks, and water activities during flood months. [5] This mix gives you more choice than a trip built around daytime game drives alone.
Water levels matter. Flood months can open water-based activities, while other periods may place more focus on land drives. Ask the operator which activities run during your dates. A camp's location can shape the balance between land and water time.
Choose by access
Many visitors fly from Maun by chartered aircraft to airstrips in or near Moremi. Lodges and camps often provide transfers from those airstrips. [7] Light aircraft travel saves road time, but baggage limits and transfer details need early checks.
A listed Moremi or Khwai camp has 12 tents and access by light aircraft and 4x4. [5] This example shows why access details matter when comparing camps. A lodge with air access may work well for a short safari. A road-based plan may suit travelers who want a longer route through Botswana.
What is the best time to stay in Moremi lodges?
The best time to stay in Moremi is May to October for the main peak travel period. [5] These months are widely used for safari planning because they match the cited camp's peak season. Travelers should still ask how water levels and lodge activities will work on their exact dates.
May to October
May to October is the key period to compare first. The cited Moremi and Khwai camp lists these months as its peak travel season. [5] This period may suit travelers who want to plan around a well-known safari window and secure a clear activity schedule.
Peak travel can also mean higher demand. Compare rates early, especially for Mombo, Xigera, Tawana, and other luxury camps. If your dates are fixed, ask more than one verified operator for a quote.
Flood months and water activities
Water activities operate during flood months at the cited Moremi and Khwai camp. [5] This detail matters if you want boat or mokoro-style experiences as part of your safari. Water conditions can change the balance between driving and boating.
Do not choose a lodge from its name alone. Ask what water access means at that camp, how far activities travel, and which activities are included. A quote should state the planned activities in plain terms.
How long should you stay?
A short lodge stay can work if you are adding Moremi to a wider Botswana route. A longer stay gives you more chances to use different activity types and adjust around weather or water conditions.
The cited private Botswana itinerary lasts 10 days and includes Maun, the Okavango Delta, Moremi, Savuti, and a return to Maun. [6] You can read more about the wider route in this guide to Moremi Game Reserve safari packages and 2027 costs.
Book a Moremi lodge by fixing your dates, setting a nightly budget, and requesting an itemized package quote. Confirm the lodge name, accommodation type, activities, transfers, flights, and meal plan before you compare offers.

Does the package include a charter flight from Maun?
What baggage limit applies to the aircraft?
Which water activities run during the travel month?
Can the operator confirm the lodge and room type in writing?

How to avoid a weak comparison
Do not compare only the headline price. Compare the lodge category, included activities, transfer method, and length of stay. Also check whether the rate applies to 2027 or comes from an older season.
Use the same questions for every operator. Ask for the same dates and the same number of travelers. Then compare the answers in one table. This simple step makes a big price gap easier to understand.

What Travelers Say (SafariFind Reviews)
"In short, my partner and I had the most amazing time in Botswana, all thanks to Moonstroll for coordinating and taking us on the coolest safari adventure! In more detail.. The overall experience with Moonstroll Vantage Expeditions was great. I initially had no idea how quickly safaris booked up in Botswana (especially if your dates are only marginally flexible), so I had a difficult time finding a multi-day safari adventure within our budget. When I came across Moonstroll, I reached out with my dates and received a very quick response, with a super-detailed quote which highlighted the inclusions of the safari. Monametsi (owner of Moonstroll) was very professional throughout the entire planning process. He was responsive and very helpful by email leading up to the tour. When we landed in Botswana, him and his colleague Lucky personally met us at the Maun airport and took us to our accommodation. Similar to what a few others have noted, I was initially skeptical of the process of wire-transferring money for payment of the safari (as there were limited reviews on this company) - but after having spent the 5 days on safari with Moonstroll, I can comfortably say that they are an awesome company; a local one too, with a very small team. Do note that your safari will be subcontracted out to other local experts, selected by Monametsi, who take you on your safari. For our private 5 day (4 night) camping trip, we had a team of three gentlemen who made the trip a superb one. Our safari guide and driver, Thuso, was amazing at spotting wildlife and an excellent driver. He could maneuver the safari vehicle safely through rough terrain, follow lion tracks, and lookout for animals all the same time!! He was very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna of all the parks we visited; his expertise led us to seeing some rare animals, including a group of lion cubs, a leopard with its kill in a tree, and two lionesses hunting. The next team member included Russell, our chef, who cooked up the most delicious meals for the group each day. I think back and remember one of our lunches where he baked an entire quiche - over a fire (so impressive)!!! Apart from being very tasty, we also note that the preparation of the food was also very sanitary especially considering we were camping for five days. Finally, our trip would also not have been as lovely without Gaety, who was the camp assistant. He helped with setting up our campsites and was there to support the other two guys throughout the trip. For anyone wondering about what to expect when camping, here are a few quick notes: - all campsites are in the wilderness areas of the game parks; they are therefore not part of large public campsites so you actually feel like you are in the wilderness and there aren't others around you. It is very peaceful and you never know who your animal neighbours will be! On two separate nights, we saw hyenas wander onto our site (we saw them through the mesh of our tent when the moonlight was bright) - it was so cool (but also a bit terrifying) - the team will collect water from the entrance to the game park prior to setting up camp each day for cooking, showers, etc - a shower will be set up by the team (one of the pressure/valve showers used for camping - that hang above you from a tree) with a metal frame + tarp for privacy - a hole is dugout for a toilet - a portable chair that has a toilet seat goes over the hole - similar to the shower, a tarp is raised for privacy - cots and mattress pads are provided in your tent so you do not have to sleep directly on the ground The entire experience was fantastic! I would be happy to answer any other questions if anyone is wondering more about joining this safari, as I know I had tons when I was researching. Overall, I would not hesitate to recommend Moonstroll Vantage Expeditions. They were the perfect team for us to share our first safari experience with and it was nice being able to support a small local organization."

"We just came from our 7-day Chobe and Okavango Delta Explorer safari with Moonstroll. It was a spectacular experience. Our guide Dylos used all his experience and did a fantastic job, going above and beyond to show us some of the most beautiful animals and spots that Botswana has to offer. We loved the stay in the bus camps and to be able to hear (and sometimes see) the hienas, hippos, elephants and even lions and leopards at early morning and at dinner time. Rhotata, our chef, cooked some delicious food and her constant good mood and happiness was contagious. Mark and Chief also did a great job and made sure that e everything in the camp was run up and working. Thank you!"

"My partner and our other couple friends were so lucky to have the best team taking care of us. Dylos our guide and driver went out of his way to ensure we had the best bush experience - finding the best animals, finding the best spots to eat, answering all of my numerous questions and taking every opportunity to point out and give new information on the animals we spotted. We were lucky enough to see not one, but TWO leopards. As for the rest of the team, Enok was the most fabulous cook. I couldn't believe what that man could do with a few pots and a fire. The most insane home baked fresh bread, delicious curry, meatballs - you name it. It was beyond my wildest dreams of what I would expect camping. Huge up to Kennedy for setting up our lodging to a T. You ensured we were comfortable at all times and that we had a hot camp shower when we returned from long game drives out. Thanks for all your hard work. Overall I give the team at moonstroll 5 stars - thanks for an unforgettable first safari experience. Botswana and its people are so beautiful. We will be back. <3"

"Monametsi is a great safari operator. He was very helpful in the planning phase. The safari itself was fantastic. We saw a lot of animals, birds and landscapes. We took beautiful photos and videos. The organization of the accommodation was excellent, they chose great places for camping, especially in Khwai. We really enjoyed the meals prepared by Midoh, including the traditional Botswana meals. Our guide Sox is very well prepared, knows the area and is a good companion. Our safari in the Okavango Delta will remain in our memories for a very long time. I can recommend the company wholeheartedly."
Agata Serafin•4 November 2026
"We were on the 7-day Moremi/Okavango/Chobe safari and it was the travel experience of our lives. The crew (General, Hotata, Kennedy and Howard) were simply wonderful, and friendly and fun to be with. General is a top-notch guide and we especially appreciated his knowledge of birds, not to mention his ability as a tracker, teacher and driver. Hotata's food, all cooked over wood fires in our wilderness campsites, was excellent, and the crew just took care of everything. These national parks are world treasures, a redoubt of the old, wild Africa and a tremendous credit to the people of Botswana. We would recommend this safari to anyone, with the caveat that you must be prepared for camping a bit in the rough and be physically up to long, bouncy rides in the Land Cruiser."
