A 7-Day Botswana Safari Itinerary 2027: Cost and Route can focus on Chobe National Park, the Okavango region, and a final wildlife stay. Published 2027 examples range from an estimated $6,310 for a seven-day family safari to $700–$1,000 per person per night for early-2027 value-and-adventure travel. June and July have listed 2027 departures, but confirm season, flights, and lodge space before booking.
One seven-day Botswana family safari is estimated at $6,310 for two or three travelers. [7] That figure puts real numbers behind a trip many people first imagine as impossible. A shorter safari still needs careful planning because Botswana covers large distances and many camps rely on small aircraft.
A 7-Day Botswana Safari Itinerary 2027: Cost and Route works best when you limit the number of regions. This guide uses Chobe National Park as the opening stop, then moves toward an Okavango-area camp. It explains what the route includes, what prices mean, and where your budget can change.
Botswana is known for wide open spaces and the Okavango Delta's mix of wetland and desert species. [1] That mix makes the country a strong choice for travelers who want varied habitats without packing every day with long transfers.
Quick answer: A practical seven-day Botswana safari starts in Kasane, spends three nights near the Chobe River, and then uses a charter flight or road transfer toward the Okavango region. In 2027, use $6,310 for two or three travelers as a published planning example, then confirm flights, camps, meals, and park fees.
A 7-Day Botswana Safari Itinerary 2027: Cost and Route is a short wildlife trip built around two safari areas instead of a rushed country-wide circuit. The route below starts at Kasane, uses Chobe National Park for the first three nights, and then shifts to an Okavango-region camp for the remaining nights.
Kasane is the simplest starting point for a Chobe-focused itinerary. Travelbag describes a classic route with Days 1–3 in Chobe National Park and three nights at a lodge near the Chobe River. The lodge sits about a 10-minute drive from Kasane Airport. [8]
Chobe National Park is the route's first wildlife base. You can plan morning and afternoon game drives, then use a river activity if your lodge includes one. Keeping three nights here gives you time to settle in rather than changing camps after one game drive.
The second part of the itinerary should use one Okavango-area camp or reserve. The exact camp depends on the package, aircraft schedule, and budget. SafariFind's guide to Moremi Game Reserve safari packages can help you compare that part of the route.
SafariFind connects travelers with verified tour operators, package details, and authentic reviews. Compare seven-day Botswana safari packages and route options before you choose a camp or transfer plan.
Botswana is good for safari because its main tourism areas combine river, wetland, and dry-country habitats within one trip. National Geographic describes Botswana as a country of wide open spaces, while the Okavango Delta supports a rare mix of desert and wetland species. [1] That habitat change is the main reason to choose Botswana.
Chobe National Park gives a seven-day trip a clear opening. The Travelbag route places visitors near the Chobe River for three nights, with Kasane Airport only a short road transfer away. [8] This reduces the chance of losing a full safari day to a long arrival journey.
The Okavango part adds a different feel. Water levels, camp location, and transport type shape the activities available. Some packages use road transfers, while others use fixed-wing aircraft. Adventure Life warns that charter-flight fuel surcharges may apply and can change with fuel prices. [7]
A two-area plan gives you variety without trying to see every famous park. It also gives the operator room to manage flight schedules and camp nights. That matters in Botswana, where a map can make two places look close even when the practical transfer takes much longer.
Families should look closely at age rules, room layouts, and flight limits. Couples may prefer a smaller camp with fewer road transfers. First-time visitors often benefit from a package that includes airport pickup, guiding, meals, and internal transport in one price.
Travelers who want more time in the Okavango can compare the seven-day Chief's Island safari itinerary. That route has a stronger Okavango focus, while the Chobe start in this guide offers a more direct airport arrival.
A seven-day Botswana safari costs at least $6,310 in one published 2027 family example for two or three travelers. [7] A separate early-2027 guide places value-and-adventure travel at $700–$1,000 per person per night, generally excluding international flights. [4] These figures are planning points, not one fixed market rate.
| Trip or budget example | Price | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Botswana family safari | $6,310 for 2–3 travelers | 7 days |
| Early-2027 value-and-adventure budget | $700–$1,000 per person per night | Nightly estimate |
| Intrepid Botswana family safari | From $2,680 | 10 days |
| Intrepid Botswana and Namibia overland tour | From $6,490 | 10 days |
| Abercrombie & Kent Ultimate Botswana Safari | $22,995 per person | 10 days |
Intrepid lists a 10-day Botswana, Namibia, and additional-destination overland tour from $6,490, with the lowest listed price dated July 29, 2027. It also lists a 10-day Botswana and South Africa family safari from $2,680. [3] These trips are longer than this guide's route, so do not treat them as direct seven-day prices.
Abercrombie & Kent's 10-day Ultimate Botswana Safari is listed at $22,995 per person for departures on June 24 to July 3 and July 8 to July 17, 2027. [6] That price shows how sharply luxury safari costs can rise when a trip uses high-end camps and private services.
Request quotes from verified Botswana safari operators and compare prices when your dates are ready. Ask each operator for the same details, including international flights, domestic flights, transfers, park fees, drinks, tips, and fuel surcharges.
Road Scholar's Botswana program provides arrival transfers from Johannesburg O.R. Tambo Airport to a Johannesburg guesthouse for participants, including program-only travelers. [2] That detail shows why you should read the arrival plan carefully. A package may begin with a city night before the safari itself.
The best 2027 planning window in the published examples is June and July, but you should confirm conditions and camp availability for your exact dates. Abercrombie & Kent lists departures from June 24 to July 3 and July 8 to July 17, 2027. [6] Those dates provide a clear starting point for early planning.
A safari calendar needs more than a month. Ask about water levels, road access, aircraft schedules, animal viewing goals, and the camp's daily activities. The right month for a river-focused trip may not match the right month for a dry-country route.
Adventure Life states that its seven-day family safari prices use inflation estimates and need confirmation for the chosen departure. [7] The same careful approach applies to timing. A listed date shows that a trip operates, but it does not promise every camp, activity, or flight will suit your needs.
SafariFind's Moremi lodge comparison for 2027 can help you judge camp style and price before requesting a quote. Use the same questions for every operator. That makes a cheap-looking package easier to test against a luxury quote.
A practical seven-day route uses three nights in Chobe, two or three nights in an Okavango-area camp, and one final night near the departure point if flight times require it. This plan protects game-viewing time and limits long road days.
| Day | Base | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| Day 1 | Kasane and Chobe | Arrive at Kasane Airport, transfer to the lodge, and take a short afternoon activity if time allows. |
| Day 2 | Chobe National Park | Morning game drive and afternoon river or wildlife activity. |
| Day 3 | Chobe National Park | Second full safari day with a slower pace and flexible activity choice. |
| Day 4 | Okavango region | Use a scheduled transfer or charter flight to the second camp. |
| Day 5 | Okavango region | Full day of camp-based safari activities. |
| Day 6 | Okavango region | Final full safari day, subject to water levels and camp activities. |
| Day 7 | Departure | Transfer to the next airport or extend with a final overnight near the route exit. |
The first three days follow the Chobe structure described by Travelbag. [8] The remaining days need operator confirmation because camps use different airstrips, flight times, and transfer plans. Do not book a same-day international connection without checking the full schedule.
Getting there usually means flying into Kasane for a Chobe-first trip, then using a road transfer or charter flight toward the second camp. Travelbag places its Chobe lodge about 10 minutes from Kasane Airport. [8] Road Scholar also describes Johannesburg arrival transfers for its Botswana program. [2]
Pack light if your route uses small aircraft. Ask for the baggage limit in writing. Also ask whether the package covers airport transfers, aircraft tickets, luggage handling, and any fuel surcharge.
Travelers who prefer a longer Chobe stay can read the guide to luxury safari lodges in Chobe. Visitors who want a wider inland route can compare a 2027 Makgadikgadi Pans safari, though adding another park may make seven days feel rushed.
Confirm the full inclusion list before booking a 2027 Botswana safari. The headline price alone does not tell you whether flights, park fees, transfers, meals, drinks, or tips are included.
Botswana is safe for tourists when visitors follow operator guidance, respect wildlife distance, and prepare for remote travel. For practical planning questions, read SafariFind's guide to whether Botswana is safe for tourists in 2027. The safety plan should cover health, road travel, camp rules, and emergency contact steps.
Pregnant travelers, solo visitors, LGBTQ+ travelers, and families should ask an operator for advice suited to their route. A general article cannot replace medical guidance or a current destination briefing. SafariFind helps you compare operators, then you can ask direct questions before making a deposit.
Check nearby options only when they fit the route. Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, the Kalahari Desert, and Tau Pan can suit a longer Botswana trip. They are not automatic additions to a seven-day Chobe and Okavango plan.
Botswana is good for safari because it combines wide open spaces with wetland and desert habitats. The Okavango Delta supports a rare mix of species, while Chobe offers a practical river-based starting point. [1] A seven-day route works best when it uses two areas instead of many rushed stops.
A published seven-day Botswana family safari costs an estimated $6,310 for two or three travelers in 2027. [7] An early-2027 value-and-adventure guide gives a broader estimate of $700–$1,000 per person per night, usually excluding international flights. [4] Ask for a full inclusion list before comparing prices.
June and July are useful 2027 planning examples because published luxury departures operate during those months. [6] Your best dates depend on water levels, wildlife goals, camp availability, and flight schedules. Confirm those details with the operator before paying.
This article does not compare current crime or travel advisories for Botswana and Namibia. Ask your government travel service and your safari operator for current guidance. Your operator should also explain camp rules, road transfers, health steps, and emergency contacts for your exact route.
Botswana safari travel requires normal travel care and strict wildlife rules. Ask your operator about road safety, medical access, camp procedures, and emergency plans. Read SafariFind's practical safety guide before choosing a package, especially for remote camps and charter-flight routes.
Use SafariFind to compare verified safari packages, review operator ratings, and request quotes for your dates. Share your budget, traveler count, preferred route, and flight needs. Then compare the written inclusions, cancellation terms, and recent traveler reviews before booking.
A 7-Day Botswana Safari Itinerary 2027: Cost and Route is most useful when it stays focused. Start near Kasane, spend three nights in Chobe National Park, then move to one Okavango-area camp. This route gives you two habitats without turning the trip into a chain of airport transfers.
Use $6,310 for two or three travelers as a real 2027 planning reference. [7] Use $700–$1,000 per person per night as a broader value-and-adventure guide, usually before international flights. [4] Luxury travelers should note the $22,995 per-person price listed for a 10-day Ultimate Botswana Safari. [6]
Compare the full details, not only the headline price. Check aircraft costs, fuel surcharges, park fees, meals, baggage rules, and cancellation terms. Read authentic reviews before you choose a camp.
Compare verified safari packages on SafariFind, request a quote from a verified operator, and plan your 2027 route with clear costs. As 2027 bookings open, early questions will give you a better chance of matching your dates with the right camp.

"In short, my partner and I had the most amazing time in Botswana, all thanks to Moonstroll for coordinating and taking us on the coolest safari adventure! In more detail.. The overall experience with Moonstroll Vantage Expeditions was great. I initially had no idea how quickly safaris booked up in Botswana (especially if your dates are only marginally flexible), so I had a difficult time finding a multi-day safari adventure within our budget. When I came across Moonstroll, I reached out with my dates and received a very quick response, with a super-detailed quote which highlighted the inclusions of the safari. Monametsi (owner of Moonstroll) was very professional throughout the entire planning process. He was responsive and very helpful by email leading up to the tour. When we landed in Botswana, him and his colleague Lucky personally met us at the Maun airport and took us to our accommodation. Similar to what a few others have noted, I was initially skeptical of the process of wire-transferring money for payment of the safari (as there were limited reviews on this company) - but after having spent the 5 days on safari with Moonstroll, I can comfortably say that they are an awesome company; a local one too, with a very small team. Do note that your safari will be subcontracted out to other local experts, selected by Monametsi, who take you on your safari. For our private 5 day (4 night) camping trip, we had a team of three gentlemen who made the trip a superb one. Our safari guide and driver, Thuso, was amazing at spotting wildlife and an excellent driver. He could maneuver the safari vehicle safely through rough terrain, follow lion tracks, and lookout for animals all the same time!! He was very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna of all the parks we visited; his expertise led us to seeing some rare animals, including a group of lion cubs, a leopard with its kill in a tree, and two lionesses hunting. The next team member included Russell, our chef, who cooked up the most delicious meals for the group each day. I think back and remember one of our lunches where he baked an entire quiche - over a fire (so impressive)!!! Apart from being very tasty, we also note that the preparation of the food was also very sanitary especially considering we were camping for five days. Finally, our trip would also not have been as lovely without Gaety, who was the camp assistant. He helped with setting up our campsites and was there to support the other two guys throughout the trip. For anyone wondering about what to expect when camping, here are a few quick notes: - all campsites are in the wilderness areas of the game parks; they are therefore not part of large public campsites so you actually feel like you are in the wilderness and there aren't others around you. It is very peaceful and you never know who your animal neighbours will be! On two separate nights, we saw hyenas wander onto our site (we saw them through the mesh of our tent when the moonlight was bright) - it was so cool (but also a bit terrifying) - the team will collect water from the entrance to the game park prior to setting up camp each day for cooking, showers, etc - a shower will be set up by the team (one of the pressure/valve showers used for camping - that hang above you from a tree) with a metal frame + tarp for privacy - a hole is dugout for a toilet - a portable chair that has a toilet seat goes over the hole - similar to the shower, a tarp is raised for privacy - cots and mattress pads are provided in your tent so you do not have to sleep directly on the ground The entire experience was fantastic! I would be happy to answer any other questions if anyone is wondering more about joining this safari, as I know I had tons when I was researching. Overall, I would not hesitate to recommend Moonstroll Vantage Expeditions. They were the perfect team for us to share our first safari experience with and it was nice being able to support a small local organization."
"We just came from our 7-day Chobe and Okavango Delta Explorer safari with Moonstroll. It was a spectacular experience. Our guide Dylos used all his experience and did a fantastic job, going above and beyond to show us some of the most beautiful animals and spots that Botswana has to offer. We loved the stay in the bus camps and to be able to hear (and sometimes see) the hienas, hippos, elephants and even lions and leopards at early morning and at dinner time. Rhotata, our chef, cooked some delicious food and her constant good mood and happiness was contagious. Mark and Chief also did a great job and made sure that e everything in the camp was run up and working. Thank you!"
"My partner and our other couple friends were so lucky to have the best team taking care of us. Dylos our guide and driver went out of his way to ensure we had the best bush experience - finding the best animals, finding the best spots to eat, answering all of my numerous questions and taking every opportunity to point out and give new information on the animals we spotted. We were lucky enough to see not one, but TWO leopards. As for the rest of the team, Enok was the most fabulous cook. I couldn't believe what that man could do with a few pots and a fire. The most insane home baked fresh bread, delicious curry, meatballs - you name it. It was beyond my wildest dreams of what I would expect camping. Huge up to Kennedy for setting up our lodging to a T. You ensured we were comfortable at all times and that we had a hot camp shower when we returned from long game drives out. Thanks for all your hard work. Overall I give the team at moonstroll 5 stars - thanks for an unforgettable first safari experience. Botswana and its people are so beautiful. We will be back. <3"
"Monametsi is a great safari operator. He was very helpful in the planning phase. The safari itself was fantastic. We saw a lot of animals, birds and landscapes. We took beautiful photos and videos. The organization of the accommodation was excellent, they chose great places for camping, especially in Khwai. We really enjoyed the meals prepared by Midoh, including the traditional Botswana meals. Our guide Sox is very well prepared, knows the area and is a good companion. Our safari in the Okavango Delta will remain in our memories for a very long time. I can recommend the company wholeheartedly."
"We were on the 7-day Moremi/Okavango/Chobe safari and it was the travel experience of our lives. The crew (General, Hotata, Kennedy and Howard) were simply wonderful, and friendly and fun to be with. General is a top-notch guide and we especially appreciated his knowledge of birds, not to mention his ability as a tracker, teacher and driver. Hotata's food, all cooked over wood fires in our wilderness campsites, was excellent, and the crew just took care of everything. These national parks are world treasures, a redoubt of the old, wild Africa and a tremendous credit to the people of Botswana. We would recommend this safari to anyone, with the caveat that you must be prepared for camping a bit in the rough and be physically up to long, bouncy rides in the Land Cruiser."
