A five-day Rwanda trip can combine Lake Kivu, island boat rides, gorilla trekking, and mountain routes. The hard part is finding a clear 2027 price.
Lake Kivu Tours 2027: 5-Day Package Prices & Routes are not sold at one fixed rate. Published examples include £3,719 per person for a five-day Rwanda gorilla encounter, while a five-day gourmet and wine climbing safari costs $6,800 to $11,200. March to May, June to October, November to December, and late December have listed 2027 travel windows, so compare the route and inclusions carefully.
Lake Kivu Tours 2027: 5-Day Package Prices and Routes give travelers a short way to see western Rwanda. A five-day trip can focus on the lake, add a boat ride to small islands, or connect the shoreline with Volcanoes National Park. Some published trips also include gorilla trekking, culture, or a mountain climb.
The key point is price clarity. A confirmed standalone five-day Lake Kivu rate is not established in the available 2027 listings. Travelbag shows a five-day Rwanda gorilla encounter from £3,719 per person, while Africa Natural Tours lists a five-day gourmet and wine climbing safari at $6,800 to $11,200. Neither figure is a simple lake-only benchmark [2][3].
Go2Africa lists Rwanda itineraries that include Nyungwe, Lake Kivu, and gorilla experiences across several 2027 travel periods. Its page shows “Loading price” for those dates, so the route is useful for planning but not for a fixed budget [7].
This guide separates published prices from route ideas. It also explains what to ask before booking. SafariFind connects travelers with verified tour operators, package details, and authentic reviews, which makes it easier to compare the real cost of a five-day plan.
Quick answer: A five-day Lake Kivu trip in 2027 has no single confirmed market price. Use £3,719 as a published Rwanda gorilla-trip example and $6,800 to $11,200 as a specialist climbing-safari example. Then check whether flights, hotels, permits, meals, transfers, and lake activities are included.
Lake Kivu Tours 2027: 5-Day Package Prices and Routes are short Rwanda itineraries built around the lake and nearby western attractions. The route can stay on the shoreline or link Lake Kivu with Volcanoes National Park, a mountain stop, gorilla trekking, or a wider Rwanda holiday.
Lake Kivu is known for a tree-lined shoreline and a white sandy beach [1]. That setting gives a five-day trip a slower feel than a park-heavy safari. You can use the lake as the main stay, then add one major inland experience.
A route described by RoadTrip Rwanda combines a boat trip to Lake Kivu islands with Volcanoes National Park and Mount Kabuye [4]. This is a useful model for travelers who want water, hills, and wildlife in one short journey. It also shows why route design matters more than the label “Lake Kivu tour.”
Known for: lake views, island boat rides, western Rwanda scenery, and easy links to mountain and gorilla experiences. Best for: couples, active travelers, and visitors who want a compact route instead of a long national park circuit.
Travelbag’s £3,719 offer is a Rwanda gorilla package rather than a confirmed Lake Kivu-only departure. The listing refers to selected November 2026 travel, so travelers should not treat it as a guaranteed 2027 lake price [2]. That distinction is easy to miss when comparing short packages online.

Five-day Lake Kivu tours do not have one confirmed 2027 price in the available listings. Published benchmarks range from £3,719 per person for a Rwanda gorilla encounter to $6,800 to $11,200 for a specialist gourmet and wine climbing safari. These packages serve different purposes, so compare inclusions before comparing currencies.
| Package or itinerary | Duration | Published price | What the listing includes or describes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Travelbag Rwanda gorilla encounter | 5 days | From £3,719 per person | Four nights, accommodation, flights, and gorilla trekking [2] |
| Africa Natural Tours gourmet and wine climbing safari | 5 days | $6,800 to $11,200 per person | Private gourmet, wine, and climbing trip in Rwanda [3] |
| Audley Rwanda combination itineraries | 9 or 10 days | From $6,800 to $11,995 per person | Combination travel that includes Lake Kivu in some examples [6] |
| Responsible Travel Rwanda adventures | 10 days | $6,795 or $10,995 to $13,495 per person | Kayaking and gorilla travel, or primates and national parks [8] |
The table shows why a low headline price can mislead. The Travelbag figure includes flights and gorilla trekking, while the Africa Natural Tours figure covers a specialist climbing and food-based experience. Audley and Responsible Travel list longer trips, so their rates cannot be used as direct five-day Lake Kivu prices [2][3][6][8].
Gorilla trekking is often the largest cost driver in a short Rwanda itinerary, but the available listings do not provide a separate 2027 permit price for these Lake Kivu routes. Ask the operator to show the permit, hotel nights, meals, vehicle, guide, flights, and boat activity as separate lines.
Go2Africa lists 2027 seasons covering 1 March to 31 May, 1 June to 31 October, 1 November to 21 December, and 22 to 31 December. Its displayed price is “Loading price,” so those dates confirm planning windows rather than a final quote [7].
Request a quote from verified operators for a five-day Lake Kivu route and ask each operator to use the same list of inclusions. That gives you a fairer price comparison.
The best five-day route depends on your main goal. Choose a lake and islands plan for rest, a lake and gorillas plan for wildlife, or a lake and mountain plan for active travel. One published route links Lake Kivu islands, Volcanoes National Park, and Mount Kabuye [4].
This route keeps the lake at the center. A boat trip to small islands gives the trip a clear activity without filling every day with long drives. It suits travelers who want shoreline time and a simple five-day pace.
Rubavu Beach is a useful place to research when you want a beach-based Lake Kivu stay. SafariFind also covers wider Rwanda beach comparisons for 2027, including seven Lake Kivu shores.
Volcanoes National Park gives the route a wildlife and mountain focus. A published Rwanda route places the park after a Lake Kivu island boat ride [4]. Travelers can also review Volcanoes National Park packages when comparing gorilla or mountain extensions.
Mount Karisimbi is another western Rwanda search term for active travelers. The mountain route is separate from the listed Mount Kabuye plan, so ask the operator to confirm the exact summit, walking time, and permits before paying.
WOW Travel Club lists a Rwanda trip from 7 to 15 March 2027 that includes a Lake Kivu boat ride, Kigali cultural sites, gorilla trekking, and a Nyungwe canopy walk [5]. The trip lasts nine days, but its activities show how operators combine the lake with Rwanda’s main regions.
For a shorter trip, you may need to remove Kigali, Nyungwe, or the gorilla visit. That keeps the route realistic. Travelers planning more time can read this 10-day Rwanda route guide before trimming it to five days.
Africa Natural Tours lists a five-day gourmet and wine climbing safari priced at $6,800 to $11,200 per person [3]. This is best for travelers who want an activity-led private trip. It is not a basic beach holiday, so the higher price reflects a different travel style.
Known for: clear route choices. Best for: lake travelers who decide early whether they value rest, gorillas, or climbing. That choice prevents you from paying for activities you will not use.
Start by choosing the main experience, then match the route and price. A five-day Lake Kivu tour works best when you limit the number of major stops. Confirm every inclusion in writing, especially flights, permits, boat trips, meals, and hotel nights.
Start in Kigali if your operator uses the capital as the arrival point. Then ask how the trip reaches Lake Kivu and whether the itinerary ends near the lake or returns to Kigali. A simple transport plan can make a short trip feel far less rushed.
SafariFind helps you compare tour operators rather than judging a trip from one headline number. Look for the exact route, read past traveler feedback, and request a quote that lists each cost. You can also compare a lake trip with an Akagera walking safari package if wildlife is your first priority.
Keep one flexible period in the plan. Lake activities depend on weather, while gorilla trekking follows a fixed permit date. A good operator places the fixed activity first and leaves room around it.
Pack light, use a small day bag, and carry layers for cool mountain areas. Ask the operator about luggage limits before adding internal flights. These small checks matter more on a five-day trip because there is little time to fix mistakes.
Families may prefer a lake-focused route with fewer long drives. Travelers seeking gorillas should compare permit handling and hotel location first. Active visitors should confirm whether the itinerary names Mount Kabuye, Mount Karisimbi, or another mountain.
A confirmed standalone five-day Lake Kivu price is not established in the available listings. Published examples include £3,719 per person for a five-day Rwanda gorilla encounter and $6,800 to $11,200 for a five-day gourmet and wine climbing safari [2][3].
Travelbag lists the £3,719 per person package with four nights, accommodation, flights, and gorilla trekking [2]. The listing refers to selected November 2026 travel, so confirm whether the same terms apply to your 2027 departure.
A published route combines a Lake Kivu island boat trip with Volcanoes National Park and Mount Kabuye [4]. You can also choose a lake-focused route or connect the lake with gorilla trekking, depending on your fixed activities and travel time.
Go2Africa lists travel periods from 1 March to 31 May, 1 June to 31 October, 1 November to 21 December, and 22 to 31 December 2027 [7]. Those periods show availability windows, not a fixed final price.
No. The published £3,719 Travelbag package focuses on a Rwanda gorilla encounter, while the Africa Natural Tours package focuses on gourmet, wine, and climbing [2][3]. Check that Lake Kivu appears in the written itinerary before booking.
Use SafariFind to compare verified tour operators, read authentic reviews, and request a quote with clear inclusions. Ask for the route, hotel nights, permits, transport, and Lake Kivu activities in writing before paying.
A five-day Lake Kivu tour in 2027 is best planned around one clear experience. Lake Kivu offers shoreline views, a white sandy beach, and boat routes to small islands [1][4]. You can then add gorillas, Volcanoes National Park, Mount Kabuye, or a specialist climbing plan.
Use £3,719 as a published Rwanda gorilla-trip reference, not a confirmed lake-only rate [2]. Use $6,800 to $11,200 as a specialist climbing benchmark [3]. Longer Rwanda combinations also show why trip length and activities change the price. Audley lists nine- and 10-day examples from $6,800 to $11,995 [6].
Plan your dates early, compare like-for-like inclusions, and read recent reviews. Compare verified safari packages on SafariFind, request a clear quote, and choose the Lake Kivu route that fits your time and budget. In 2027, a careful route beats a vague package promise.

"I went tracking the gorillas in Rwanda and I'm glad I made a good choice to go with Universal Ventures, Their guides are friendly, punctual driver and very responsive office for any query. The experience of gorilla trekking in a once in a lifetime and I recommend this tour operator for your gorilla safari as well. Thank you."
"I was working with a tour operator out of Kenya to plan a Uganda gorilla trek followed by a Kenya & Tanzania safari. For some reason, the Uganda portion started having issues with only a few weeks to go. Enter Brian Ahereza of GoExplore. Wow! Talk about fast acting and excellent service. Within 1 day, Brian arranged everything. The only thing that would have made my trip better is if I had added one extra day, but by this point, we couldn't squeeze it in, so Brian did the absolute best with what he had to work with. For starters, one of the best things that could have happened did! ANd that was to have Charles assigned as our driver/guide. We flew into Kigali, Rwanda and Charles met us at the airport and took us to our hotel. The next morning we got up for the long drive to the Nkoringo area of Bwindi. A lot of this drive is on some VERY difficult dirt roads and Charles was masterful at navigating the terrain. Furthermore, I was using offline Google Maps to track our location and there is no possible way I could have gotten to where Charles was going. We got to Nkoringo Lodge and immediately loved it. Brian had arranged for us to have one of only 2 rooms there that had on demand hot water. Our room overlooked Bwindi and we sat on the deck admiring the view. To get to the bar/dining area, we hiked up and over a ridge and the view from that side was south to the 3 volcanoes on the border of Uganda/Rwanda/Congo - absolutely beautiful! The next day we did the trek to the Nkuringo gorilla group. It was not a difficult trek until we had to cross a fast flowing stream because the gorillas had gone to that side and as soon as we crossed, they came back! So we did too. And then we found them and it was such a wonderful experience! My wife was standing next to me and a young male (7-8 years old??) suddenly turned and started walking towards us. My wife moved to the left, but our guide said to stand still. The gorilla walked right between us and as he passed, he stuck out his arm between my legs and grasped me around the thigh!!! OMG! Even though I could feel his amazing power, I did not feel in danger. Just as quickly, he let go and continued walking! After that amazing trek, we drove (another long day) up to Queen Elizabeth National Park and spent 2 nights at the Buffalo Safari lodge. We did a couple of games drives in which we saw lots of antelope, elephants, buffalo and 6 lions (all female, with one or two young males). We followed with a boat ride on the Kazenga channel which was fantastic. The next day, we drove to Kibale National Park to look for Chimps. We arrived at our wonderful lodge, the Chimpanzee Forest Guest House at about lunchtime and then headed to Kibale for our Chimp Trek. At lunch, we met a couple who showed us amazing pictures from their trek that very morning. Unfortunately for us, even with 7 groups in the forest, we could only find 2 chimp sand they were up in the trees. That happens in nature, but the real lesson is to take the morning trek!!! The next day, Charles drove us to Entebbe and our Uganda trip was over. One of my friends asked me about the birds in Uganda. My wife loves birds and by extension, I have come to love them as well. SHe asked Charles, our guide, about every single bird we saw. Charles had a very well worn copy of "Birds of East Africa". He didn't need that book because he had it memorized. Charles was a fantastic driver/guide/person! He made our trip incredibly special! I can't thank Brian, Charles and GoExplore enough for making this so special!!!"
"I’m a wildlife photographer, and in May 2025, I went on an 8-day private photo safari organized by Brian, the owner of GoExplore Safari. The goal was to photograph Uganda’s wildlife highlights: gorillas in Bwindi, big cats in Queen Elizabeth, chimpanzees in Kibale, and the rare Shoebill Stork in Mabamba Swamp. The itinerary was well thought out, and everything ran smoothly. I flew into Kigali, Rwanda, which I highly recommend if you're heading to the Rushaga sector of Bwindi — much closer and more convenient than Entebbe. If photography is your priority, I also suggest booking two gorilla treks or considering Mgahinga. I only did one, and while it was incredible to see them, capturing strong images was difficult. The rainforest is thick, lighting tricky, and your movement limited — just something to keep in mind. Mozes, my guide, was outstanding. He’s punctual, safe, knowledgeable, and has a clear love for wildlife. He studied tourism, understands photography, and even shared stories from past conservation work, like relocating giraffes from Murchison Falls to Kidepo. He always positioned the car for the best angles and made the drives smooth and productive. Our first stop was Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge, just five minutes from Rushaga Gate. The lodge was cozy, well-designed, and mosquito-free, with great coffee and local food — an ideal base for gorilla trekking. In Queen Elizabeth, we had four full days of game drives. I like to go hard on photography, so we were out from sunrise to sunset. One major perk with GoExplore is you can plan your own drive schedule within park hours (6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.). On our first day, we stayed until closing — the only car left in Kasenyi Plains. That kind of flexibility made a huge difference. I also recommend the optional lion and leopard tracking. You’re still in your private vehicle, but a tracker joins you and leads off-road directly to the cats. We spent nearly four hours with a leopard and her cubs in a cactus tree — truly a dream scenario for any photographer. Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale was another highlight. The chimps came down from the trees and moved through the forest, and we followed them. The one-hour viewing stretched to 2.5 hours. For photography, it’s better to wait until they’re on the ground — the real action happens there. On the final day, we went to Mabamba Swamp to see the Shoebill. From a photography standpoint, it’s the best place in Africa to photograph this rare bird. The canoe brings you to water level, with clean backgrounds and soft light — a perfect setup. Uganda in late May was lush, green, and surprisingly dry — just one short rainstorm. The scenery, wildlife, and people made it a beautiful place to explore. If you’re considering Uganda, book with GoExplore — and if you can, request Mozes. His experience and attention to detail made the entire trip not just productive, but truly enjoyable. Huge thanks to Brian and Mozes for making it all happen!"
"Lovely destination Uganda we selected GoExplore Safaris because their budget was affordable and they were so fast and quick at responding to our emails and all the questions. Elephants, giraffe, deer, antelope, warthogs, hippopotamus, crocodiles, hyena, lion, beautiful birds, and a leopard. It was incredible! The boat rides up the Nile to Murchison Falls is a must do and a perfect way to end the tour. I Did not have any Idea on how beautiful Uganda is. wow, I highly recommend GoExplore Safaris and travel for anyone who is interested in adventuring Uganda and Rwanda to its fullest."
