Antananarivo, Madagascar's capital, has roughly 3 million residents, yet a rainforest trip begins only a few hours away. [1]
A 5-Day Andasibe-Mantadia Itinerary 2027: Cost Guide starts and ends in Antananarivo and focuses on rainforest walks, lemurs, and rare birds. Plan on $1,500 to $2,000 per person, using 2026 costs as a guide. Confirm 2027 rates with a verified operator, and book six to eight weeks ahead for preferred dates.
A 5-Day Andasibe-Mantadia Itinerary 2027: Cost and Booking plan is a short rainforest safari in eastern Madagascar. The route starts and ends in Antananarivo. It gives you time for forest walks, lemur viewing, bird watching, and guided visits around Andasibe-Mantadia National Park. [3]
Five days is a useful length when you have limited time. It keeps the trip focused on one wildlife area. You avoid trying to cross the whole island in one rushed holiday. A listed Andasibe lemur safari also uses a five-day format. [8]
As of October 2026, the planning budget is $1,500 to $2,000 per person. That figure uses 2026 costs and needs confirmation for 2027. It covers accommodation, meals, park fees, and guided activities in the SafariFind planning guide. [3]
Quick answer: A five-day Andasibe-Mantadia safari in 2027 is best for travelers who want lemurs and rainforest without a long island route. Set aside $1,500 to $2,000 per person. Start and finish in Antananarivo, then book six to eight weeks ahead for your preferred dates.
A 5-Day Andasibe-Mantadia itinerary in 2027 is a focused Madagascar wildlife trip that links Antananarivo with the eastern rainforest. The plan centers on guided forest walks, lemur sightings, rare birds, and park time. The same route returns travelers to the capital before the fifth day ends. [3]
Andasibe-Mantadia National Park is known for: Rainforest habitat, lemurs, rare birds, and guided nature walks. The itinerary is not a beach extension or a full island circuit. It is a short wildlife plan built around one major park area.
Best for: First-time Madagascar visitors, wildlife travelers, couples, and people adding a safari to a wider regional trip. It also suits travelers who want a clear five-day schedule instead of a two-week adventure.
Price range: $1,500 to $2,000 per person is the current planning guide for this five-day trip. The benchmark uses 2026 costs, so the operator should confirm the final 2027 quote before you pay. [3]
Antananarivo is the natural gateway for this route. The city is locally called Tana and has roughly 3 million residents. [1] Your arrival day can handle the capital and trip briefing, while the following days move east toward the rainforest.
Andasibe-Mantadia National Park appears as the main wildlife stop. One Road Scholar itinerary places its park day after a drive of about 95 miles and roughly five hours of riding. That figure shows why road time matters in a short trip. [2]
A five-day route also limits your packing. You need walking shoes, light layers, rain protection, and a small day bag. The forest schedule may feel active, so keep large luggage with your main transport rather than carrying it on every walk.
Madagascar is different from mainland safari countries. Lemurs are a central reason to visit, and rainforest walks replace long open-plains drives. You spend more time on foot and less time searching across wide grassland.
The route also gives you a practical first taste of the island. If you enjoy the forest, you can later add Ranomafana National Park, western baobabs, or an Indian Ocean beach. For a wider overview, read this Madagascar safari guide for first-time visitors.
Compare five-day Andasibe-Mantadia safari packages for 2027 to check routes, inclusions, and reviews before choosing an operator.
A five-day Andasibe-Mantadia itinerary costs about $1,500 to $2,000 per person as a 2027 planning guide. The benchmark comes from 2026 costs and includes accommodation, meals, park fees, and guided activities. Ask for a fresh 2027 quote because the published guide treats this range as a planning figure. [3]
The benchmark includes the core parts of a short safari. Those parts are accommodation, meals, park fees, and guided activities. This structure helps you compare quotes without focusing only on the headline price. A cheaper quote may use a different hotel or include fewer activities.
Read every inclusion line before booking. Confirm whether the quote covers all transport between Antananarivo and Andasibe. Also check whether airport transfers, drinks, tips, and personal costs appear in the final price. Use the same questions with every operator so the comparison stays fair.
Two five-day safaris can use the same park but offer different hotels, vehicle plans, and guide services. The route can also use different departure dates. A March 2027 Madagascar listing includes Andasibe-Mantadia, while another Madagascar program runs from March 6 to March 21, 2027. [4] [5]
Longer programs show how wide the price gap can become. Overseas Adventure Travel lists a 15-day Madagascar program for up to 16 travelers, priced from $12,799 per person. That is a different product, but it gives useful context. A five-day Andasibe plan remains much shorter and more focused. [7]
Price is not the only test. A clear itinerary, named park activities, honest reviews, and a stated group size matter too. SafariFind connects travelers with verified tour operators, so you can compare those details in one place.
Request quotes from verified Madagascar safari operators with transparent 2027 prices before you make a final choice.
A practical five-day itinerary starts and ends in Antananarivo, with the middle days focused on Andasibe-Mantadia. The exact order depends on the operator, but the plan should protect enough time for rainforest walks, lemur viewing, birding, and the return drive. [3]
Begin in Antananarivo, also called Tana. The city has roughly 3 million residents and acts as the start and finish point for this itinerary. [1] Use the first day to settle in, meet the guide, review the road plan, and prepare clothing for wet forest walks.
Keep your first day simple. A late arrival should not force a long transfer. Ask the operator how the airport pickup works and where you stay before the road journey begins.
Travel from Antananarivo toward the Andasibe rainforest. Road Scholar records about 95 miles and around five hours of riding for a park transfer on one Madagascar itinerary. [2] Leave room for road stops, meals, and changes in travel speed.
The drive is part of the trip, not a small detail. Pack water, a light jacket, and any medicine you need during the day. Confirm the vehicle type and luggage space with the operator before departure.
Use the first full forest day for a guided walk in the Andasibe-Mantadia area. The itinerary focus is rainforest, lemurs, and rare birds. [3] Move slowly and listen to the guide. Lemur viewing depends on forest conditions and animal movement, so patience matters.
Wear shoes with firm grip. Bring a small bag, a camera, and rain protection. A forest trail can feel very different from a road-based safari, especially when the ground is wet.
Give the fourth day to Andasibe-Mantadia National Park or nearby guided activities. Road Scholar places its Day 4 at Andasibe-Mantadia, also called Perinet, after the long transfer day. [2] This gives the trip a clear wildlife center instead of adding another distant park.
Ask whether your guide plans morning or afternoon walks. Also ask how long each walk lasts. Those answers help you choose the right pace and prepare the right clothing.
Return to Antananarivo on the final day. Keep the schedule realistic, especially if you have a flight or hotel transfer after the safari. A strong operator should show the road plan, expected arrival time, and backup steps in the booking details.
This compact route works because it avoids too many regions. If five days leaves you wanting more, compare the longer Andasibe-Mantadia package guide for 2027 before adding extra parks.
Book a five-day Andasibe-Mantadia safari six to eight weeks before travel. This window gives you time to compare operators, check preferred dates, and confirm the 2027 price. It also reduces the risk of choosing a route without the forest activities you want. [3]
March 2027 has a listed Madagascar tour that visits Andasibe-Mantadia. A separate program runs from March 6 to March 21, 2027. [4] [5] These examples prove that March departures are already being planned, but they do not replace a personal quote.
Choose your dates before comparing prices. Then ask each operator for the same five-day route. A direct comparison is easier when the start city, park time, meals, and transport match.
Look for a clear itinerary and verified traveler reviews. SafariFind lists packages and tour operators so you can compare prices, trip length, and guest feedback. Read the review text, not only the star score. A useful review explains guide quality, road time, rooms, and wildlife activities.
Rainforest travel needs simple, useful gear. Pack shoes with good grip, quick-drying clothes, a rain layer, insect protection, and a small day bag. Keep camera batteries and documents protected from moisture.
Bring a steady pace rather than a large amount of equipment. The guide controls the walking speed and may ask you to stop often. That rhythm gives you a better chance to notice birds and lemurs in the trees.
A five-day route is a good match for a short wildlife visit. Choose a longer trip if you want several parks, beaches, or the western baobabs. A 15-day program listed for 2027 costs from $12,799 per person, showing how much the route and trip length can change the budget. [7]
For a short trip, do not force extra regions into the plan. Andasibe-Mantadia already gives you a focused rainforest experience. A clear route is usually better than a crowded schedule.
A five-day Andasibe-Mantadia safari costs about $1,500 to $2,000 per person as a 2027 planning guide. The figure uses 2026 costs and includes accommodation, meals, park fees, and guided activities. Confirm the final price with the operator before booking. [3]

"From start to finish, this tour was an unforgettable experience. When enquiring about planning this trip ,Tony was very responsive, informative and. answered all our questions as we went along .When my suitcase didn't arrive in Madagascar Tony sorted it for me and negotiated with the airline on my behalf, going above and beyond and was very much appreciated Our guides were all knowledgeable, friendly, and punctual and clearly passionate about what they do, which made the whole trip both fun and informative. The itinerary was perfectly balanced — we saw all the major highlights without ever feeling rushed, and there were plenty of opportunities to take photos, ask questions, and just soak up the atmosphere. The transportation was comfortable, everything ran smoothly and on time, and as it was a private tour we were able to spend as little or as much time at each place as we chose. Every stop had something unique to offer, and the insider stories and local tips really brought the culture to life. It’s rare to find a tour that gets every detail right, but this one truly did, guides were on time , transfers were smooth, everything was flexible to our wishes. Hugh thanks to Tony, Sidney, Princee and Nico. The drivers were all awesome and we always felt safe despite some roads been very African massage- bumpy ! We left with amazing memories, beautiful photos, and a much deeper appreciation for the country. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic and enjoyable experience. We would do it again in a heartbeat!"

"We have recently finished a 10 day tour of Madagascar in April 2025 using the operator “Madagascar Natural Tours” from start to finish it almost felt too good to be true, I have never met any one else from Australia who has been to Madagascar so we were very hesitant in whether it would be safe and had no idea how to organise a holiday there or what to expect. Harilala was extremely professional and communicative the entire way and answered every single (too many) questions of ours and made us feel comfortable and excited. He planned our itinerary just perfectly we listed a couple of things we had wanted to see - baobab avenue, lemurs and Nosy Be. He organised our whole itinerary, accomodation and flights for us so that it flowed seamlessly. He provided options in accomodation as we were seeking honeymoon style resorts. The hotels that he booked were beautiful, clean, great food and lovely staff! We had a few internal flights in our itinerary and it was so nice stepping off the plane and trusting that there would be a guide there waiting for us to get us to our hotel. The few times during our stay we had a question regarding our tour, Harilala would reply to our messages almost immediately and paid very careful attention to ensure we were happy and getting the most out of our tour. Using Madagascar Natural Tours took all stress out of the holiday / planning and allowed us to just show up and make memories of a lifetime! I would highly recommend this company to anybody curious to explore Madagascar! Particularly if you do not speak French, we struggled with the language barrier however all guides had amazing English which was such a relief. We can’t wait to come back in a few years time!!"

Besides the wonderful tour, Solo and Fidele, our tour leaders, made the difference. We spent 20 days in Madagascar, and they flew by; everything was fantastic. We'll definitely be back to see the southernmost part of the country."
