<p>Your Ugandan safari kicks off right here. With the incredible wildlife this country boasts, there’s no doubt you’re eager to dive in. Once you’ve met your guide and had your questions answered, you’ll be off exploring. A highlight of the Nile’s 6,000km journey from Lake Victoria to the Mediterranean, the 43m-high Murchison Falls is the star of Uganda’s largest and oldest national park. </p><p>Here you could spot four of the Big Five, lion, leopard, elephant, and buffalo plus the world’s largest population of endangered Rothschild’s giraffes, along with various antelope and monkeys. Birdlife is just as impressive, with over 550 recorded species, including the massive shoebill, Abyssinian ground hornbill, and the striking, white-crested turaco and red-headed lovebird. A</p><p>t Ziwa Rhino and Wildlife Ranch, rhino tracking offers a chance to see these massive, peaceful grazers up close. As Uganda’s only rhino population, they’re the undeniable stars of this admirable breeding project, which is also home to plenty of other wildlife.</p>

<p>Kibale National Park is one of East Africa’s most important chimp strongholds. This forested park is home to roughly 1,000 of these charismatic apes, the largest population in the region, and the chances of a close-up sighting are excellent. Even if you don't manage to see chimps, listen out for their unforgettable pant-hoot call as it resonates through the forest interior. Other wildlife you might encounter in Kibale includes monkeys such as Uganda mangabey, Uganda red colobus and red-tailed monkey, and an astounding 370 bird species</p>

<p>You don't need to stray far off the beaten path in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to understand how Uganda's premier gorilla-tracking destination acquired its English name. The steep slopes and dense substrata of ferns and shrubs in this magnificent highland forest can make for challenging walking conditions. Fortunately, the park has a good network of footpaths allowing you to look for its diverse wildlife, not only mountain gorillas but also 10 other primate, six forest antelope, 350 bird and 200-plus butterfly species</p>
