<p>Your Ugandan safari begins now, with the country’s remarkable wildlife awaiting exploration. After meeting your guide and addressing any questions, the adventure commences. At the heart of Uganda’s largest and oldest national park lies the 43m-high Murchison Falls, hailed as the most dramatic feature along the Nile’s 6,000km journey from Lake Victoria to the Mediterranean. </p><p>Here, sightings may include four of the Big Five. lion, leopard, elephant, and buffalo—alongside the world’s largest population of endangered Rothschild’s giraffes, various antelope species, and monkeys. Among over 550 recorded bird species, notable highlights include the imposing shoebill Abyssinian ground hornbill, and the vibrantly marked white-crested turaco and red-headed lovebird. In Ziwa Rhino and Wildlife Ranch, home to Uganda’s only rhino population, visitors can track white rhinos, second only to elephants in size among Africa’s land mammals—while also encountering other. Once you’ve met your guide and had your questions answered, you’ll be off exploring. <p>Kibale National Park is one of East Africa’s most important chimp strongholds. This forested park is home to roughly 1,000 of these charismatic apes, the largest population in the region, and the chances of a close-up sighting are excellent. Even if you don't manage to see chimps, listen out for their unforgettable pant-hoot call as it resonates through the forest interior.
