5-Day Ol Pejeta, Lake Nakuru & Maasai Mara Safari

<p>Depart Nairobi early to traverse the central highlands, arriving at the Ol Pejeta Conservancy by midday. Ol Pejeta is unique for its status as a private sanctuary and its role in the conservation of the endangered black rhino and the world’s last remaining northern white rhinos. After lunch at your tented camp, spend the afternoon exploring the plains. A highlight is the Chimpanzee Sanctuary, established in partnership with the Jane Goodall Institute, which provides a refuge for rescued chimpanzees. Overnight at your selected camp within the conservancy.</p>

<p>Depart after breakfast, driving toward the floor of the Great Rift Valley. Arrive at Lake Nakuru National Park in time for lunch. The park is renowned for its alkaline lake, which historically hosts massive concentrations of flamingos, alongside a thriving population of both black and white rhinos. Spend the afternoon on a game drive, focusing on the acacia woodlands where leopards are frequently sighted. Overnight at Lake Nakuru Lodge.</p>

<p>Travel south from the Rift Valley toward the Masai Mara, passing through the town of Narok. The transition from the volcanic soils of the Rift to the vast savannahs of the Mara provides a dramatic change in scenery. Upon arrival in the Mara, enjoy an afternoon game drive. The reserve is globally famous for the annual wildebeest migration, a phenomenon involving over 1.5 million ungulates. Check into Jambo Mara for dinner and your first night in the reserve.</p>

<p>Dedicate this day to exploring the Mara Triangle and the central plains. The Mara is home to the "Big Five"—lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino—and offers some of the best predator viewing in Africa. Engage with your guide to track prides of lions or cheetahs hunting in the tall grasses. The ecosystem's high primary productivity supports a density of wildlife that is unparalleled in East Africa. Return to Jambo Mara for your final night.</p>

<p> After breakfast, begin the drive back to Nairobi. The route takes you through the scenic escarpments of the Rift Valley, providing a final perspective of the geological forces that shaped this region. Arrive in Nairobi by late afternoon, concluding your safari.</p>
