About this safari
The 4 Days Mount Meru Trek is an exciting adventure to the summit of Mount Meru, Tanzania’s second-highest mountain at 4,566 meters (14,980 ft). Located within Arusha National Park, Mount Meru offers a unique combination of mountain trekking, wildlife encounters, and breathtaking scenery.
This trek is an excellent alternative or preparation for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. The route passes through lush rainforest, heathland, moorland, and alpine desert zones before reaching Socialist Peak, the summit of Mount Meru.
Unlike Kilimanjaro, trekkers are accompanied by an armed ranger due to the wildlife found in the national park, making this one of Africa’s most unique mountain experiences.

After breakfast, depart from Arusha and drive to Momella Gate in Arusha National Park.
Complete registration and meet your mountain guide, crew, and armed ranger.
Begin trekking through open grasslands and montane forest. Along the trail, you may encounter giraffes, buffaloes, warthogs, bushbucks, colobus monkeys, and a variety of bird species.
Enjoy lunch en route before continuing to Miriakamba Hut.
Arrive in the afternoon for dinner and overnight.
