4-Day Gorilla Trekking and Lake Bunyonyi

After an early breakfast, you transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. You are then assigned a gorilla family and begin your trek into the dense rainforest, guided by experienced trackers. The trek can take several hours depending on the gorillas’ location, but the reward is extraordinary spending one magical hour observing mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. After the trek, you return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. The afternoon is spent at leisure, allowing you to reflect on this once-in-a-lifetime wildlife encounter while enjoying the forest atmosphere surrounding the lodge.

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your professional driver-guide from Lineage Gorilla Safaris. After a short briefing, you will begin a scenic drive through Rwanda’s rolling hills toward the Uganda border, enjoying beautiful countryside views along the way. After border formalities, the journey continues into southwestern Uganda, passing through rural villages and lush landscapes as you head toward Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Upon arrival, you check in at your lodge nestled in the forest, where you relax, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the exciting gorilla trekking experience the following day.

After breakfast, you enjoy morning activities at Lake Bunyonyi such as a canoe ride, short nature walk, or a visit to nearby islands, offering insight into the local culture and lakeside life. Later in the morning, you begin your return journey to Rwanda, driving through scenic landscapes and crossing the border back into Kigali. Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport or your preferred drop-off point in the city, the safari comes to an end, concluding a memorable gorilla trekking and lake relaxation experience.

Following breakfast, you depart Bwindi and drive through the stunning highlands of southwestern Uganda toward Lake Bunyonyi. The journey offers panoramic views of terraced hills, valleys, and rural communities, with opportunities for photography along the way. Upon arrival at Lake Bunyonyi, you check in at your lakeside lodge overlooking the calm waters and dotted islands. The rest of the day is free to relax, enjoy the peaceful environment, or take a gentle walk along the lakeshore as the sun sets over one of Africa’s most picturesque landscapes.
