St Lucia Village is the gateway the iSimangaliso Wetland Park! South Africa's first declared UNESCO World Heritage Site for Nature. In the local Zulu language, iSimangaliso translates to "Place of Miracle or Wonder" - it really is an incredibly beautiful and very unique park to visit. The interwoven biome regions overlapping all the way through, warm Indian Ocean as the eastern border, sand and dune forests, open savanah grassland and dense sub-tropical forests interspersed with lakes, estuaries and marshland. This myriad of habitats are home to so many animal, bird, mammal and plant species - both terrestrial and marine life abounds here! Uniquely, you drive through "on safari" to enjoy the most pristine beach a short way from St Lucia. After exploring the beaches, rock pools and maybe enjoying the warm Indian Ocean water! You have a double safari experience on you way back to St Lucia Village.

Enjoy a pre-packed breakfast at the beach, spend some hours enjoying the nature and wildlife all around you. Then a traditional South African "braai" for lunch before winding you way back through the park to Siyabonga Jetty and your afternoon sunset hippo/croc cruise on St Lucia Estuary.
