A South Luangwa walking safari can cost $400–$600 per person each night in 2027, before you compare camp style and route length [5].
South Luangwa Walking Safari Packages 2027: Prices Compared helps you plan a trip with clear price markers and practical questions. South Luangwa National Park is in Zambia, and walking-focused packages place guiding at the heart of the experience [2][3].
A walking safari is different from a standard vehicle tour. You move at a slower pace, read tracks, and notice smaller details. Some packages also add night drives, smaller camps, and time in remote areas [3]. This guide explains what the available price information means.
Quick answer: A South Luangwa walking safari costs about $400–$600 per person per night for a mid-range, all-inclusive camp in 2027. Available itineraries include five walking days along the Mupamadzi River and a separate nine-day walking safari. Confirm exact dates, inclusions, and availability before paying a deposit [2][4][5].
Prices in this guide are expressed in U.S. dollars per person. They are planning figures, not a guaranteed quote. Operators can set different rates for mobile camps, permanent camps, private departures, and longer trips.
South Luangwa walking safari packages are guided trips that make walking the main activity inside South Luangwa National Park. The packages combine accommodation, meals, guiding, and park access in different ways. A cited mid-range estimate places the all-inclusive cost at $400–$600 per person per night in 2027 [2][5].
South Luangwa walking safaris focus on the ground beneath your feet. Guides explain tracks, plants, sounds, and animal signs. The experience also gives you time to watch the landscape without the constant movement of a vehicle. Guiding quality and wilderness immersion are central selling points for these trips [3].
South Luangwa National Park packages can use small tented camps or mobile camps. Smaller camps often create a quieter setting, while mobile trips move with the route. Some packages add night drives, so you can see a different side of the park after dark [3].
The Mupamadzi River route is useful for travelers who want a focused walking journey. The nine-day format suits travelers who prefer more time in one safari region. Neither option should be judged by days alone. Ask how many full walking days, transfers, game drives, and rest periods the price includes.
SafariFind connects travelers with verified tour operators and authentic traveler reviews. Compare South Luangwa walking safari packages for 2027 to review available trip styles before requesting a quote.

South Luangwa walking safaris cost about $400–$600 per person per night for a dedicated, mid-range, all-inclusive tented-camp experience in 2027. The estimate includes guiding, accommodation, meals, and park fees. Your final quote can change when the route, camp type, group size, and departure dates change [5].
| Name | Price | Duration | Rating | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| South Luangwa mid-range tented camp | $400–$600 per person per night | Nightly rate | Not published in the cited data | Travelers wanting an all-inclusive walking base [5] |
| Luangwa Mobile Walking Safari | 2027 USD rate; request current quote | Five walking days | Not published in the cited data | Travelers seeking a Mupamadzi River walking route [2] |
| South Luangwa Walking Safari | Rate on enquiry | Nine days | Not published in the cited data | Travelers wanting a longer walking itinerary [4] |

The $400–$600 estimate is important because it gives you a starting budget. The cited figure covers accommodation, meals, guiding, and park fees. Always check whether transfers, drinks, laundry, flights, and travel insurance sit outside the quoted amount [5].
Luangwa Mobile Walking Safari pricing is shown in U.S. dollars per person for 2027. The product also describes five days of walking along the Mupamadzi River. Ask whether the displayed rate applies to the full trip or only selected nights [2].
A longer itinerary can raise the total cost even when the nightly rate stays similar. For example, nine nights at $400–$600 would produce a simple accommodation-and-safari estimate of $3,600–$5,400 per person. That calculation does not add flights or extras.
SafariFind makes price checks easier when you compare the same inclusions. Request a 2027 quote from verified South Luangwa operators and compare what each price includes, rather than comparing nightly numbers alone.
For broader budgeting, see Zambia Safari Cost: What $2k, $4k, and $7k Buy. The guide gives useful context for building a full Zambia trip budget.
Check the route, walking days, camp type, inclusions, and operator terms before booking a South Luangwa walking safari. A low nightly price can hide extra transfers or fewer walking activities. A higher price can reflect a mobile camp, longer route, stronger guiding support, or more complete inclusions.
Start by choosing the trip length. The five-day Mupamadzi River itinerary gives you a clear walking focus. The nine-day itinerary gives you a longer travel frame. A combined Zambia product includes South Luangwa and Lower Zambezi during the 2026–2027 period [2][4][7].
Next, choose between a mobile camp and a fixed tented camp. A mobile camp can match the walking route more closely. A fixed camp can offer a stable base and may add night drives. The right choice depends on how much movement and comfort you want.
South Luangwa packages often highlight walking and guiding quality. That means the guide matters as much as the tent. Ask about guide experience, group size, walking pace, and the safety briefing. These details shape your daily experience more than a brochure photo does [3].
Zambia Safari Tours: five ways to compare trips offers a useful checklist for comparing operators and trip plans. You can also explore where to stay on a Zambia safari when you want to add lodge nights before or after South Luangwa.
South Luangwa can form part of a larger Zambia plan. Travelers may compare it with Lower Zambezi, or add time near Victoria Falls. The best route depends on your budget and travel time. Do not add extra destinations until you know the walking safari’s full transfer costs.
For a direct comparison with another major Zambian park, read Lower Zambezi Safari Packages 2027: seven-day prices compared. It helps separate park choice from package length.
A South Luangwa walking safari is best for travelers who value close observation, expert guiding, and time in nature. The format replaces some vehicle time with guided movement through the bush. It also supports a slower pace, where tracks, birds, plants, and animal calls become part of the experience [3].
South Luangwa walking safaris are best for active travelers, repeat safari guests, photographers who enjoy small details, and visitors who want a guide-led wilderness experience. The trip is also a strong fit for people who prefer fewer camp guests and a clear focus on walking.
South Luangwa walking safaris are not the best match for every traveler. Guests who want daily long vehicle drives, luxury resort facilities, or a fixed schedule should ask detailed questions first. A walking route may include early starts, uneven ground, heat, and time away from large camp facilities.
Walking safari safety depends on following the guide and staying with the group. Your operator should explain behavior around wildlife, walking order, and what to do during an animal sighting. Request these details before you confirm the booking.
SafariFind helps you compare verified operators, package details, and authentic reviews in one marketplace. Use the available listings to find a walking safari that matches your preferred pace, camp style, and 2027 budget.
South Luangwa walking safaris cost about $400–$600 per person per night for a mid-range, all-inclusive tented-camp experience in 2027. The estimate includes guiding, accommodation, meals, and park fees. Confirm the final rate because transfers, drinks, flights, and private departures may follow separate terms [5].
A South Luangwa walking safari package can include guiding, accommodation, meals, and park fees. Some packages also include walking activities and night drives. Ask for a written list of inclusions because transport, drinks, flights, and insurance are not confirmed in the cited nightly estimate [3][5].
South Luangwa walking safaris can last five walking days or nine days, depending on the itinerary. One mobile route follows the Mupamadzi River for five days, while another product is marketed as a nine-day walking safari. Confirm the number of nights and full walking days before booking [2][4].
The Mupamadzi River walking safari is a mobile South Luangwa itinerary with five days of walking. The route is designed for travelers seeking a dedicated walking experience. Request the 2027 itinerary to confirm camp locations, transfers, walking hours, and the current per-person rate [2].
South Luangwa walking safaris suit first-time travelers who want expert guidance and an active trip. Ask about walking pace, terrain, group size, and safety procedures before booking. A vehicle-based safari may suit guests who prefer less walking or more fixed daily comfort.
You can book by comparing verified operators, checking authentic reviews, and requesting a written 2027 quote. SafariFind connects travelers with safari operators and package listings, helping you compare price, duration, camp style, and inclusions before you choose.

Choose the five-day Mupamadzi River route if you want a dedicated mobile walking trip. Choose the nine-day itinerary if you want more time in the South Luangwa wilderness [2][4]. A combined South Luangwa and Lower Zambezi product is another option for a wider Zambia journey [7].

"On 10.9. until 1.10. In 2023, I went on a trip to Botswana, Zimbabwe and a short visit to Zambia with my clients - friends. I carefully prepared the trip in cooperation with the manager of Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours, Mr. Tongesai Mutematsaka. After arriving in Gaborone we organized a short tour of the city ourselves and met Tongesai in Maun. Tongesai was our driver and guide practically the whole way. We visited the Okavango River Delta and its surroundings (Moremi Reserve, Mokoro boat cruise, flight over the Okavango Delta. This was followed by a visit to the Makgadikgadi Salt Flats, then the Elephant Sands area and in Botswana Chobe National Park with a cruise on the Chobe River. Then we crossed to Zimbabwe, which was the main part of our journey. In the Victoria Falls area, we visited the Monde settlement, took a helicopter flight over Victoria Falls, followed by a cruise on the Zambezi River as part of a visit to the national park of the same name. We also walked past Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwean side and had a Boma dinner in the evening (too much of a "tourist thing"). On the Zambian side of the falls we saw white rhinos in Mosi - oa - Tunya National Park, then visited the museum in Livingstone and walked the Zambian side of the falls. From Victoria Falls, we headed to Hwange National Park, where we had a beautiful program - a safari, and after Hwange, there was also a very interesting program in Matobo National Park (there, among other things, white rhinos (a mother with her little daughter), beautiful rock formations and prehistoric cave drawings. The next place visited was Khami with very interesting buildings, and then we visited the ruins of Great Zimbabwe, which are among the most important world monuments. This was followed by a visit to the Chinhoya Karst and finally the gallery in Harare. I would also like to comment on the provision of services: Accommodation in the hotels was at the standard, expected level, only the service at the Great Zimbabwe Hotel was rather lazy. Accommodation in lodges - very good and the best accommodation was in Iganyana tented camp in Hwange National Park, mainly due to the extraordinary professionalism and very friendly attitude of the staff there towards us, the visitors. I must also highly praise all the local guides we met everywhere, e.g. in Chobe, Hwange and Matobo National Parks. I want to emphasize that this journey is one of the most interesting that I have made around the world. I believe that my clients - friends were also satisfied with the set. Thanks to the travel agency Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours and Mr. Tongesai Mutematsaka. I recommend Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours to anyone considering a trip to Zimbabwe."

"Tongesai was awesome from the start. I knew he was a good tour operator because he answered all of my questions in a timely manner and no question was ever stupid. Everything was just as he said once we arrived and really it was better. We prepared for about a year in advance for this trip and the tour operator was instrumental and making this trip a success. I highly recommend this tour operator to anyone who wants to visit Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Botswana. Give Tongesai a call or email, and you will 100% not be disappointed. I have a very deep understanding of border crossing and transportation challenges in many African countries at this point because of the efforts of the tour operator. This makes my wife and I have very comfortable to approach another visit or look at visiting a different African country."
