Isalo National Park Safari Packages 2027: Cost Guide prices cover a wide range of travel styles. A basic multiday package starts at $2,039 per person. A premium 11-day Madagascar trip that includes Isalo starts at $5,199. Tailor-made 14-day holidays reach $8,210 per person.
Isalo National Park is in southern Madagascar. The park is known for sandstone canyons, walking trails, pools, and wide views. The Namaza Canyon hike takes about 30 to 45 minutes each way. The round trip to the campground covers about one mile [1].
The real cost depends on more than the headline price. Accommodation, meals, transfers, guide services, trip length, and park charges all affect the final bill. The clearest way to compare these details is to review each package line by line.
SafariFind connects travelers with verified tour operators and authentic traveler reviews. You can compare Madagascar itineraries, check included services, and find a trip that matches your budget.
Isalo National Park Safari Packages 2027: Cost Guide explains the prices, inclusions, and planning choices behind a trip to Isalo in southern Madagascar. Listed prices start at $2,039 per person for multiday tours. Higher rates reflect longer routes, better lodging, wider transport plans, and more included services.
Isalo National Park is a walking-focused destination. A game-drive safari is not the main reason travelers visit. Instead, visitors follow canyon trails, walk through dry landscapes, and look for lemurs around the Namaza Canyon campground.
Namaza Canyon is a gentle hike of about 30 to 45 minutes one way. The round trip to the campground is about one mile. The trail becomes steep beyond the campground as it rises toward a waterfall [1]. That detail matters when you choose a package. A short walk can become a harder outing later in the route.
Isalo packages often place the park inside a wider Madagascar journey. Travelers may combine Isalo with Anja Community Reserve, Ranomafana National Park, or Antsirabe. Each added stop changes the driving time and total cost.
Isalo matters because it adds walking and landscape time to a Madagascar trip. The park also gives you a chance to slow down. You spend less time chasing sightings and more time following a trail, watching the ground, and listening for movement in the trees.
Compare Madagascar safari packages with Isalo included and review prices, trip lengths, and operator details before you choose.
An Isalo safari package costs $2,039 to $8,210 per person in the listed 2027 price examples. The lower figure covers a multiday trip with accommodation and selected meals. The higher figure covers a 14-day tailor-made Madagascar holiday. A separate local-guide listing starts at $5,380 [2][4][7].
| Package type | Listed price | Trip detail |
|---|---|---|
| Entry-level multiday package | From $2,039 per person | Accommodation and selected meals included |
| 11-day Madagascar package | From $5,199 per person | Includes Isalo; listed as reduced from $7,999 |
| Local-guide Isalo packages | From $5,380 per person | Three packages, available year-round |
| 14-day tailor-made holiday | From $8,210 per person | Includes Isalo; 2027 and 2028 travel |
The $2,039 starting price is a useful budget marker, not a full trip quote. The final amount changes with the route, lodging level, transfers, meals, and services included. A lower price may suit travelers who want a simple route. A higher price may fit people who want longer travel, private planning, or better lodging.
Lodge prices near Isalo range from $800 to $2,000 per night. This single cost can change the total more than a small activity fee. Ask whether your listed package uses a lodge, hotel, guesthouse, or another form of accommodation.
Park fees also need attention. Ma'Tour lists Madagascar park fees between 45,000 and 130,000 ariary per person per day. Its fee guide lists Isalo at 130,000 ariary per person per day [5]. The listed community tax was 5,000 ariary per person for the entire visit in 2018. Ask your operator to confirm the current 2027 entrance charge before you pay a deposit.
Travelers who compare only the headline price often miss these details. A $2,039 package and a $5,380 package may offer very different rooms, routes, and transport. Compare the inclusions before comparing the numbers.
Request a quote from verified Madagascar tour operators to compare 2027 costs with the same list of inclusions.
Plan an Isalo safari by choosing your trip length, checking walking demands, and confirming every fee before booking. Start with the route. Then compare lodging, meals, transfers, guide services, and park charges. This approach gives you a clearer price than choosing a package by its title alone.
Madagascar routes often take time on the road. A package with more stops can offer more wildlife and culture, but it also adds driving hours. A focused Isalo trip gives you more time for walks and less time changing hotels.
Isalo National Park works well with southern and central Madagascar stops. You can compare it with the forest trails of Andasibe-Mantadia National Park or read about a 5-day Andasibe-Mantadia itinerary. These choices create a different trip. Andasibe focuses on rainforest species, while Isalo focuses on dry trails and rock formations.
Wear shoes with firm grip for canyon trails. Carry water, sun protection, and a light layer for early walks. The trail beyond the Namaza campground becomes steep toward a waterfall [1]. Tell your guide how far you want to walk before the day begins.
Lemurs are commonly spotted near the Namaza Canyon campground [1]. Move slowly near the trees. Keep food packed away. Follow guide instructions, since the guide knows the trail and the local wildlife.
Packages are available year-round through one listed marketplace [4]. That does not remove the need to ask about trail conditions, road travel, and weather for your dates. Operators can also explain which walks suit your fitness level.
Review pages can help you compare the experience behind the price. SafariFind lets travelers read authentic reviews and compare verified operators. You can also look at a dedicated guide to Isalo walking safari packages for 2027 before choosing a route.
These questions take only a few minutes. They can prevent a large surprise after you arrive. They also make it easier to compare two offers that look similar on the surface.
Isalo National Park safari packages start at $2,039 per person for listed multiday tours in 2027. An 11-day package starts at $5,199, while a 14-day tailor-made holiday starts at $8,210. Lodging, meals, transfers, guides, and park fees affect the final price [2][7].
The listed $2,039 Isalo package includes accommodation and selected meals. The final trip plan may also include transport, guides, park fees, and activities, so check each item before booking. The price is a starting point for a multiday tour, not a universal package rate [2].
Ma'Tour lists the Isalo park fee at 130,000 ariary per person per day. A 2018 listing also recorded a 5,000 ariary community tax for the whole visit. Ask your operator to confirm both charges for your 2027 travel dates [5].
The Namaza Canyon walk takes about 30 to 45 minutes one way. The round trip to the campground covers about one mile. The route becomes steep beyond the campground toward a waterfall, so discuss the full walk with your guide [1].
Yes, one listed marketplace shows Isalo packages with local guides available year-round. Ask about road conditions, trail plans, and weather for your dates. Year-round availability means operators accept trips throughout the year, not that every trail has the same conditions [4].

Isalo is a strong choice if you enjoy walking, dry landscapes, and small wildlife encounters. The Namaza Canyon route is manageable at first, but the trail becomes steeper near the waterfall. Choose a plan that matches your fitness and travel pace.

"From start to finish, this tour was an unforgettable experience. When enquiring about planning this trip ,Tony was very responsive, informative and. answered all our questions as we went along .When my suitcase didn't arrive in Madagascar Tony sorted it for me and negotiated with the airline on my behalf, going above and beyond and was very much appreciated Our guides were all knowledgeable, friendly, and punctual and clearly passionate about what they do, which made the whole trip both fun and informative. The itinerary was perfectly balanced — we saw all the major highlights without ever feeling rushed, and there were plenty of opportunities to take photos, ask questions, and just soak up the atmosphere. The transportation was comfortable, everything ran smoothly and on time, and as it was a private tour we were able to spend as little or as much time at each place as we chose. Every stop had something unique to offer, and the insider stories and local tips really brought the culture to life. It’s rare to find a tour that gets every detail right, but this one truly did, guides were on time , transfers were smooth, everything was flexible to our wishes. Hugh thanks to Tony, Sidney, Princee and Nico. The drivers were all awesome and we always felt safe despite some roads been very African massage- bumpy ! We left with amazing memories, beautiful photos, and a much deeper appreciation for the country. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic and enjoyable experience. We would do it again in a heartbeat!"
"I highly recommend the Friendly Tour Guide Mada. The best cars I have seen on Madagascar, very clean, comfortable and modern. Drivers and tour guide are professionals! Very polite and helpful. Except 3 spots written in the description, expect visit to a very nice European restaurant with an amazing view! We are very happy, that we found this reliable tour operator. Thank you for everything ☺️"
"We have recently finished a 10 day tour of Madagascar in April 2025 using the operator “Madagascar Natural Tours” from start to finish it almost felt too good to be true, I have never met any one else from Australia who has been to Madagascar so we were very hesitant in whether it would be safe and had no idea how to organise a holiday there or what to expect. Harilala was extremely professional and communicative the entire way and answered every single (too many) questions of ours and made us feel comfortable and excited. He planned our itinerary just perfectly we listed a couple of things we had wanted to see - baobab avenue, lemurs and Nosy Be. He organised our whole itinerary, accomodation and flights for us so that it flowed seamlessly. He provided options in accomodation as we were seeking honeymoon style resorts. The hotels that he booked were beautiful, clean, great food and lovely staff! We had a few internal flights in our itinerary and it was so nice stepping off the plane and trusting that there would be a guide there waiting for us to get us to our hotel. The few times during our stay we had a question regarding our tour, Harilala would reply to our messages almost immediately and paid very careful attention to ensure we were happy and getting the most out of our tour. Using Madagascar Natural Tours took all stress out of the holiday / planning and allowed us to just show up and make memories of a lifetime! I would highly recommend this company to anybody curious to explore Madagascar! Particularly if you do not speak French, we struggled with the language barrier however all guides had amazing English which was such a relief. We can’t wait to come back in a few years time!!"
"We entrusted Harilala with our Madagascar tour, explaining what we wanted to see and visit. What can I say? He exceeded our expectations! Besides the wonderful tour, Solo and Fidele, our tour leaders, made the difference. We spent 20 days in Madagascar, and they flew by; everything was fantastic. We'll definitely be back to see the southernmost part of the country."
"Our experience with the conpany was very positive. They arranged custom tour for us in very short time frame and everything went smoothly. Our driver took very good care of us and drove us safely around Madagascar even though the roads are not in very good condition. They have english speaking drivers for those whi don't speak french. Owner of the company is very active on whatsapp and Facebook, so it is veey easy to get information about tours. Would recommend."
