Chobe National Park is home to an estimated 120,000 elephants, yet a first-time safari can cost as little as $720 per person in 2027. [2]
The Chobe National Park Safari Cost 2027 is usually $720 to $5,500 or more per person. Short camping trips offer the lowest prices, while luxury lodges, private vehicles, flights, and longer stays raise the bill. The best first safari lasts 3 to 5 days and starts in Kasane during the dry months, when wildlife gathers near the Chobe River.
Chobe National Park Safari Cost 2027 planning starts with one simple fact. Your choice of camp, vehicle, and trip length matters more than the park entry fee. The entry charge is small. Accommodation and transport shape the final price.
Chobe National Park sits in northern Botswana, close to Kasane and the borders of nearby countries. Road access helps keep some trips more affordable than remote Okavango Delta safaris. You can also combine Chobe with Victoria Falls or a longer Botswana route.
Known for: Chobe is known for its large elephant population and river-based game viewing. Safari boats and open vehicles give you two different ways to watch wildlife. The river also brings animals close during dry periods.
Quick answer: A Chobe safari in 2027 costs $720 to $5,500 or more per person. Camping gives you the lowest starting price. Lodge stays cost more, with accommodation near Kasane listed at about $350 to $550 per person each night. [1] [2]
This guide breaks down the main costs in plain language. It also explains what your package should include, how to avoid surprise charges, and how to compare verified operators through SafariFind.
The Chobe National Park Safari Cost 2027 is $720 to $5,500 or more per person for many planned trips. Camping sits at the lower end. Luxury lodges, private vehicles, internal flights, and longer routes sit at the higher end. [1]
SafariFind estimates that a 2027 Chobe safari costs $720 to $5,500 or more per person. This range covers very different travel styles. A short camping trip may include shared transport and basic meals. A luxury trip may include a private guide, premium room, and several park areas. [1]
Chobe National Park entry fees do not explain the full bill. Non-citizen adults pay 120 Botswana pula, or about $9, per person per day, according to the listed fee. [6] Operators then add guiding, vehicles, meals, accommodation, transfers, and profit.
Chobe National Park is a strong first safari choice because road access gives travelers more budget options. The park is also linked to Kasane, so you do not need a remote fly-in camp for a real wildlife trip. That practical mix matters when you are watching every dollar.
Compare 5-day Chobe safari itineraries and 2027 costs before choosing your dates and travel style.
Chobe safari packages range from short budget trips to multi-country luxury journeys. A package priced at $5,449 can include 14 days, while a 13-day tour can reach $16,145. Compare what each price includes before judging value. [4] [7]
Machaba Safaris lists a Classic Botswana package that includes Chobe National Park and the Okavango Delta. The listed shoulder-season price begins at $7,438 per person for a departure starting April 1, 2027. The same listing also shows a price of $13,139 per person for another April 2027 departure. [3]
A 14-day small-group itinerary that includes Chobe National Park is listed at $5,449 per person. The listed reduced price is down from $6,599. This example shows why group travel can cost less than a private luxury route, even when the trip lasts longer. [7]
TravelStride lists 319 Chobe tours. Its examples include a 7-day group tour at $9,380 and a 19-day custom trip at $8,205. These figures show that duration alone does not set the price. Group size, hotels, route, and included transport also matter. [8]
| Name | Price | Duration | Rating | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Budget Chobe safari estimate | $720 to $5,500+ | Short to extended | Varies by operator | Travelers comparing styles |
| Machaba Classic Botswana | $7,438 or $13,139 | Multi-park package | Not listed | Luxury Botswana travel |
| Small-group Botswana itinerary | $5,449 | 14 days | Not listed | Longer group trips |
| TravelStride group tour | $9,380 | 7 days | Not listed | Group travelers |
| TravelStride custom trip | $8,205 | 19 days | Not listed | Custom multi-stop travel |
Compare 2027 Chobe safari packages by price and trip style when you need a closer look at package details.
The gap between $720 and $16,145 is large, but the trips are not equal. The lower figure may describe a simple camping plan. The higher figure may combine several destinations, premium camps, private services, and transfers.
Ask for a clear list of inclusions. Check the number of park nights, game drives, boat cruises, meals, drinks, transfers, flights, and park fees. A low headline price can become expensive if these items sit outside the package.
First-time visitors should choose a trip length, lodging level, and transport plan before comparing prices. A 3 to 5-day Chobe safari works well for most first visits. It gives you time for both land drives and a Chobe River cruise without forcing a long route.
Best time to visit: Choose the dry months if you want strong water-based wildlife viewing. Animals often stay close to rivers and water sources as dry conditions continue. Exact seasonal prices depend on the operator and departure date, so check the 2027 quote before paying a deposit.
Dry-season travel often costs more because demand rises. Shoulder-season travel can offer a better balance between price and game viewing. Machaba lists an April 2027 shoulder-season departure at $7,438 per person for its Classic Botswana package. [3]
Chobe National Park offers both land and river activities. A game drive helps you search for elephants, lions, buffalo, and other savanna animals. A boat cruise changes the view. You watch animals from the water and often see elephants entering the river.
Kasane is the main access point for many Chobe trips. Accommodation near Kasane is listed at about $350 to $550 per person per night. [2] Budget travelers can look for camping or simple rooms. Lodge travelers should ask whether the rate includes meals, transfers, and activities.
If you plan a wider route, read SafariFind's Maun safari and city guide for 2027. Maun often connects with Okavango Delta routes, while Chobe works well at the start or end of a northern Botswana trip.
You can reduce the Chobe safari cost by choosing camping, shared drives, road transfers, and a shorter route. The lowest estimate for 2027 starts at $720 per person, but your final quote depends on the nights, services, and inclusions you select. [1]
A 2-night trip gives you a quick taste of Chobe. A 3 to 5-day plan gives better value for first-time travelers. You have more chances to see wildlife, and the cost of transfers can spread across more days.
Longer does not always mean cheaper per day. A 13-day tour that includes Chobe-related destinations is listed from $16,145. [4] That price may suit travelers who want a wider route, but it is not a budget Chobe break.
Shared vehicles divide guide and transport costs among travelers. They also limit your control over stops and departure times. Private vehicles cost more, but they suit photographers, families, and travelers with a focused wildlife plan.
Camping usually offers the lowest accommodation price. You may sleep in a tent and follow a set camp routine. Lodge travel gives you more comfort, but the listed Kasane area rate of $350 to $550 per person each night can quickly raise the total. [2]
Compare a 7-day Botswana self-drive safari plan and 2027 budget if you are weighing a road trip against a guided package.
SafariFind connects travelers with verified tour operators and authentic reviews from past customers. Read reviews for guide quality, vehicle condition, food, timing, and how the operator handled changes. A low price means little if the service fails during your only game drive.
SafariFind also lets you compare safari packages and request quotes. Use the same questions for each operator. That makes the final price easier to compare and helps you spot missing services.
The best first-timer plan is a 3 to 5-day Chobe safari with land drives, a river cruise, and a Kasane transfer. This route keeps travel simple and gives you several wildlife sessions. It also avoids the higher cost of adding many remote camps on your first trip.
Chobe National Park is especially useful for first-time travelers who want easy access. Road links from Kasane make the park more reachable than remote Delta camps. [2] You can spend less time changing planes and more time on drives or the river.
Do not pack only for midday heat. Early drives can feel cold, and river cruises can bring wind. Ask your operator about luggage limits if your itinerary includes a small aircraft. Road trips usually allow more luggage than fly-in safaris.
Photography also affects your plan. A private vehicle gives you more time at a sighting. A shared vehicle costs less and still offers strong viewing. Decide which matters more before you compare quotes.
A good quote names the operator, dates, accommodation, transport, activities, meals, fees, and cancellation rules. It should state whether the price is per person sharing or for a private room. It should also show the currency and payment schedule.
Ask one direct question: "What will I pay after every listed extra?" The answer reveals more than the starting price. Keep written replies, then compare the full totals in one table.
A Chobe National Park safari costs $720 to $5,500 or more per person in 2027. Camping and shared trips sit near the lower end. Luxury lodges, private vehicles, flights, and longer routes push the total higher. [1]
The listed Chobe National Park entry fee is 120 Botswana pula, or about $9, per non-citizen adult, per day. Ask your operator whether this fee appears in the package price or must be paid separately. [6]
You need 3 to 5 days for a strong first Chobe safari. This length gives you time for several game drives and a river cruise. A 2-night visit works for a short stop, while longer trips suit wider Botswana routes.
The dry months are the best time to visit Chobe National Park for wildlife near water. Demand can raise prices during popular periods. Shoulder-season dates may offer better value, including April 2027 package options listed by Machaba Safaris. [3]
Chobe safari lodges near Kasane cost about $350 to $550 per person per night, according to one 2027 Botswana safari cost guide. The rate may include meals and activities, so compare the full package rather than room price alone. [2]
Book through SafariFind to compare verified tour operators, review authentic traveler feedback, and request quotes. Check the full price, inclusions, operator profile, and cancellation terms before you pay a deposit.
The Chobe National Park Safari Cost 2027 is usually $720 to $5,500 or more per person. Camping and shared travel keep costs lower. Lodge stays, private vehicles, flights, and longer routes create the biggest increases. The park offers strong first-safari value because Kasane provides road access and the Chobe River adds a second way to view wildlife.
Choose 3 to 5 days for a balanced first visit. Compare shoulder-season dates if peak rates exceed your budget. A simple trip can focus on Chobe, while a larger package can add the Okavango Delta or other Botswana stops.

"Cultural Vibes Travel and Tours has proved to be excellent yet again as this is now the third time, we have used them and a much-needed break after almost 3 years with the Covid pandemic. Tongesai is extremely reliable, professional, knowledgeable and does everything to make your trip a memorable experience. Compared to local larger companies, Tongesai’s individual package rates are more reasonable and come with a customized touch. We felt that our holiday with Tongesai was much better and suited us more so than if we had booked through a larger company. His individual tailoring, personal involvement and attention to detail pays off in the smooth running of your trip. Our visits to the Victoria Falls, both sides from Zimbabwe and Zambia were magnificent and never cease to amaze us. On this trip Tongesai arranged for a private sunset cruise on the Zambezi just for our family of four instead of on the larger vessels, which was a very pleasant alternative. The boat trip in Chobe is magical and a must if you venture into Botswana. Wildlife was in abundance, including lion, elephant, wildebeest, buffalo, puku, kudu, bushbuck, waterbuck, impala, gemsbok, steenbok, sable and roan antelope, etc. We even saw a relative of Cecil, the famous black-maned lion, ‘once a true king of Hwange National Park’. I have no hesitation in recommending the company for arranging tours in Zimbabwe, Zambia and Botswana - we will definitely be seeing him again. He is currently setting up arrangements with colleagues in Kruger National Park to venture into South Africa and I wish him every success with that."

"On 10.9. until 1.10. In 2023, I went on a trip to Botswana, Zimbabwe and a short visit to Zambia with my clients - friends. I carefully prepared the trip in cooperation with the manager of Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours, Mr. Tongesai Mutematsaka. After arriving in Gaborone we organized a short tour of the city ourselves and met Tongesai in Maun. Tongesai was our driver and guide practically the whole way. We visited the Okavango River Delta and its surroundings (Moremi Reserve, Mokoro boat cruise, flight over the Okavango Delta. This was followed by a visit to the Makgadikgadi Salt Flats, then the Elephant Sands area and in Botswana Chobe National Park with a cruise on the Chobe River. Then we crossed to Zimbabwe, which was the main part of our journey. In the Victoria Falls area, we visited the Monde settlement, took a helicopter flight over Victoria Falls, followed by a cruise on the Zambezi River as part of a visit to the national park of the same name. We also walked past Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwean side and had a Boma dinner in the evening (too much of a "tourist thing"). On the Zambian side of the falls we saw white rhinos in Mosi - oa - Tunya National Park, then visited the museum in Livingstone and walked the Zambian side of the falls. From Victoria Falls, we headed to Hwange National Park, where we had a beautiful program - a safari, and after Hwange, there was also a very interesting program in Matobo National Park (there, among other things, white rhinos (a mother with her little daughter), beautiful rock formations and prehistoric cave drawings. The next place visited was Khami with very interesting buildings, and then we visited the ruins of Great Zimbabwe, which are among the most important world monuments. This was followed by a visit to the Chinhoya Karst and finally the gallery in Harare. I would also like to comment on the provision of services: Accommodation in the hotels was at the standard, expected level, only the service at the Great Zimbabwe Hotel was rather lazy. Accommodation in lodges - very good and the best accommodation was in Iganyana tented camp in Hwange National Park, mainly due to the extraordinary professionalism and very friendly attitude of the staff there towards us, the visitors. I must also highly praise all the local guides we met everywhere, e.g. in Chobe, Hwange and Matobo National Parks. I want to emphasize that this journey is one of the most interesting that I have made around the world. I believe that my clients - friends were also satisfied with the set. Thanks to the travel agency Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours and Mr. Tongesai Mutematsaka. I recommend Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours to anyone considering a trip to Zimbabwe."
