Madagascar's Avenue of the Baobabs is one of the country's clearest wildlife and nature icons. The road near Morondava brings travelers close to large baobab trees during the final light of day. Some trees are described as more than 1,000 years old. That age gives a short drive real weight, even when you have only one evening available [3].
Avenue of the Baobabs Tours 2027: Prices and Booking is a practical guide for planning that visit. It separates a local sunset trip from a longer Madagascar holiday. You will see what each price covers, how deposits work, and which questions to ask before paying.
Quick answer: A local Avenue of the Baobabs visit costs $50-$150 per person in 2027. The price depends on group size, vehicle type, guide quality, and whether you add other attractions. Longer trips begin at $1,140 per person. Morondava is the main base for the short visit [2].
Avenue of the Baobabs tours are trips to the baobab-lined road near Morondava in western Madagascar. The simplest option is a local drive timed for sunset. Longer itineraries add Kirindy Forest, coastal towns, beaches, or a wider circuit across the island.
The Avenue of the Baobabs is near Morondava, Madagascar. Visitors usually travel there in the afternoon, then wait for the light to change around the trees. The short format works well for travelers already staying in Morondava.
Known for: tall baobab trees, a sunset setting, and easy access from Morondava. The trees are described as more than 1,000 years old in SafariFind's 2027 guide [3]. That detail matters. You are not only stopping for a photograph. You are seeing trees with a very long history.
Best for: couples, photographers, families, and travelers with one free afternoon. The visit also suits people who want a clear highlight without booking a full island tour.
SafariFind reports that the final rate depends on group size, vehicle type, guide quality, and whether the visit includes other Madagascar attractions [2]. A private vehicle may give you more control over timing. A shared trip may lower the per-person cost. Ask for both options before deciding.

The avenue gives Madagascar travel a strong visual anchor. It also breaks up a longer road journey. Travelers can build a route around Morondava, then add Kirindy Forest or continue toward coastal areas.
The nearby town of Morondava is the practical base for a short visit. Travelers arriving through the capital can first review Antananarivo tours for 2027, then plan the west-coast section.
A local Avenue of the Baobabs tour costs $50-$150 per person in 2027. Longer Madagascar itineraries start at $1,140 per person, while listed examples include $1,655 for 8 days and $4,060 for 16 days [2]. The right budget depends on how much of Madagascar you want to add.
| Tour type | Listed price | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| Local sunset visit | $50-$150 per person | Short visit from Morondava |
| Longer Madagascar tour | From $1,140 per person | Multi-day island travel |
| 8-day example | $1,655 per person | Extended route |
| 16-day example | $4,060 per person | Long island itinerary |
| 13-day Land of Baobabs itinerary | From £2,900 per person | Two people sharing a double room |
The 13-day Land of Baobabs itinerary starts at £2,900 per person. It is based on two people sharing a double room. The listed route includes Morondava, Belo sur Mer, Toliara, Ifaty, Ankasy, Andravona, Andavadoaka, Morombe, and Toliara [7].
Longer tour prices usually reflect more than the baobab stop. They can include transport across several regions, accommodation, guiding, and extra activities. Read the package inclusions closely. A low headline price may cover a shorter route than you expect.
A 4-day, 3-night Baobab Avenue and Kirindy tour lists prices in USD and adds no booking fee through TourRadar [4]. That tour requires a 30% deposit, with the remaining balance due 100 days before departure [4]. Departures before January 19, 2027 require full payment at checkout [4].
Request quotes for 2027 Avenue of the Baobabs tours under your budget and compare what each operator includes before paying a deposit.
SafariFind helps travelers compare verified tour operators and read authentic reviews. That matters when two tours show similar prices but use different vehicles, hotels, or guide services.
Book an Avenue of the Baobabs tour by choosing your trip length, checking the route, confirming the payment schedule, and reviewing the operator. Start with a sunset visit if you have one day. Choose a longer package if you want Kirindy Forest or southern coastal stops.
A minimum of two travelers is required for the listed booking data. That rule affects solo travelers. If you are traveling alone, ask whether you can join a group or pay a single supplement. Confirm the answer in writing before you reserve.
The listed 4-day, 3-night tour uses a 30% deposit. Its balance is due 100 days before departure. The same listing uses USD and shows no booking fee [4]. These terms give you a clear payment calendar for 2027.
Travelers choosing a departure before January 19, 2027 need to pay the full amount at checkout on that listing [4]. Check the departure date first. A different date can change the payment rule.
Ask for the exact sunset meeting point near Morondava. Ask how long the vehicle stays at the avenue. A rushed stop can feel very different from a visit planned around the last light.
Request a written list of inclusions. It should show transport, guiding, lodging, meals, entry fees, and activities. Do not assume that every package includes the same items.
Read traveler reviews before booking. Look for comments about punctuality, vehicle comfort, guide knowledge, and communication. SafariFind connects travelers with verified operators and authentic reviews, so you can compare more than a headline price.
Check related routes before you commit. A Kirindy Forest night drive in 2027 may fit naturally after the avenue. A longer Madagascar safari route comparison can help you decide whether to stay west or travel farther.
Morondava works for travelers who want one clear nature stop. Kirindy works for travelers who want a forest visit after the baobabs. The 13-day Land of Baobabs route works for travelers who want western and southern coastlines in one trip [7].
Travelers who prefer rainforests can also compare a Andasibe-Mantadia National Park itinerary or Ranomafana National Park trip. These are different routes, so add them only when your time and budget allow.
Morondava is the main starting point for a local Avenue of the Baobabs visit. Plan the drive around sunset, confirm your transport, and leave room for delays. A longer route needs more planning because it may include Kirindy Forest and several coastal towns.
The price is only one part of the choice. A $50 visit and a multi-day package serve different travelers. Compare time, comfort, route length, and payment terms before judging value.
Sunset timing is central to the experience. Ask when the vehicle leaves Morondava and how long you will stay. Confirm whether the driver waits for the final light or returns earlier.
Route length also matters. The 13-day itinerary reaches Belo sur Mer, Toliara, Ifaty, Ankasy, Andravona, Andavadoaka, and Morombe as well as Morondava [7]. That is a full regional trip, not a simple evening excursion.
Travelers who want beaches can compare Madagascar's best beaches for 2027. Visitors who want a wider budget picture can read the guide to Madagascar safari costs in 2027.

"From start to finish, this tour was an unforgettable experience. When enquiring about planning this trip ,Tony was very responsive, informative and. answered all our questions as we went along .When my suitcase didn't arrive in Madagascar Tony sorted it for me and negotiated with the airline on my behalf, going above and beyond and was very much appreciated Our guides were all knowledgeable, friendly, and punctual and clearly passionate about what they do, which made the whole trip both fun and informative. The itinerary was perfectly balanced — we saw all the major highlights without ever feeling rushed, and there were plenty of opportunities to take photos, ask questions, and just soak up the atmosphere. The transportation was comfortable, everything ran smoothly and on time, and as it was a private tour we were able to spend as little or as much time at each place as we chose. Every stop had something unique to offer, and the insider stories and local tips really brought the culture to life. It’s rare to find a tour that gets every detail right, but this one truly did, guides were on time , transfers were smooth, everything was flexible to our wishes. Hugh thanks to Tony, Sidney, Princee and Nico. The drivers were all awesome and we always felt safe despite some roads been very African massage- bumpy ! We left with amazing memories, beautiful photos, and a much deeper appreciation for the country. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic and enjoyable experience. We would do it again in a heartbeat!"

"We have recently finished a 10 day tour of Madagascar in April 2025 using the operator “Madagascar Natural Tours” from start to finish it almost felt too good to be true, I have never met any one else from Australia who has been to Madagascar so we were very hesitant in whether it would be safe and had no idea how to organise a holiday there or what to expect. Harilala was extremely professional and communicative the entire way and answered every single (too many) questions of ours and made us feel comfortable and excited. He planned our itinerary just perfectly we listed a couple of things we had wanted to see - baobab avenue, lemurs and Nosy Be. He organised our whole itinerary, accomodation and flights for us so that it flowed seamlessly. He provided options in accomodation as we were seeking honeymoon style resorts. The hotels that he booked were beautiful, clean, great food and lovely staff! We had a few internal flights in our itinerary and it was so nice stepping off the plane and trusting that there would be a guide there waiting for us to get us to our hotel. The few times during our stay we had a question regarding our tour, Harilala would reply to our messages almost immediately and paid very careful attention to ensure we were happy and getting the most out of our tour. Using Madagascar Natural Tours took all stress out of the holiday / planning and allowed us to just show up and make memories of a lifetime! I would highly recommend this company to anybody curious to explore Madagascar! Particularly if you do not speak French, we struggled with the language barrier however all guides had amazing English which was such a relief. We can’t wait to come back in a few years time!!"

"We entrusted Harilala with our Madagascar tour, explaining what we wanted to see and visit. What can I say? He exceeded our expectations! Besides the wonderful tour, Solo and Fidele, our tour leaders, made the difference. We spent 20 days in Madagascar, and they flew by; everything was fantastic. We'll definitely be back to see the southernmost part of the country."
