Akagera can cost as little as $500 per person for a short safari, yet luxury trips can reach $4,500. That wide gap makes the choice between two days and three days worth planning carefully.
Akagera safari prices in 2027 range from $500 to $4,500 per person across listed trips of one to 10 days. A mid-range three-day safari costs about $940 per person, while a reported three-day range is $880 to $3,281. Choose two days for a quick wildlife break, or three days for a slower trip with more time for game drives and Lake Ihema.
Akagera safari prices in 2027 depend on trip length, lodge level, transport, guiding, and added activities. Listed 2027 packages range from $500 to $4,500 per person for trips lasting one to 10 days. A mid-range three-day example costs about $940 per person [1].
Akagera National Park is in eastern Rwanda, within reach of Kigali. The park gives travelers a chance to combine open savanna, wetlands, lakes, and guided wildlife drives in one short trip. It works well for visitors who do not have time for a long national park circuit.
The key choice is simple. A two-day safari saves time and may reduce hotel and transport costs. A three-day safari gives you another game drive, more room for a boat trip, and less pressure if wildlife takes time to find.
Akagera National Park is known for short safari plans that combine game drives with a possible Lake Ihema boat safari. A shared boat trip costs about $40 per person in the reported 2027 planning figures [4]. Game drives may form part of daily guiding costs, but each operator should confirm this in writing before you pay [4].
Park entry also shapes the final bill. Foreign non-resident adults are reported to pay about $100 per day for entry [4][6]. A two-day visit therefore needs about $200 per adult for entry alone. A three-day visit needs about $300, before transport, rooms, meals, or guiding.
Compare Kigali to Akagera safari packages for 2027 if you want to check routes, trip length, and current operator offers before requesting a quote.
A two-day Akagera safari suits travelers with a tight schedule. You can arrive, take a drive, sleep near the park, and spend the next day on a morning drive or boat trip. This plan feels focused. It also leaves less space for delays, tiredness, or a change in weather.
A three-day safari gives the park more time to unfold. You can place a boat safari on one day and use another day for a longer game drive. The extra night also reduces the need to rush back to Kigali. For many visitors, that slower pace is worth the added room and entry costs.
The right answer depends on your goal. Choose two days if you want a compact safari before another Rwanda activity. Choose three days if Akagera is the main reason for your visit, or if you want more than one chance to see wildlife.
A two-day Akagera safari costs from $500 to $4,500 per person in listed 2027 package prices. The total depends on whether the package uses basic, mid-range, or luxury accommodation, and whether it includes private transport, guiding, meals, and a boat safari [1].
That range looks wide because “two-day safari” can mean very different trips. One package may use a simple room and shared services. Another may include a private vehicle, high-end lodging, full board, and upgraded activities. Always compare the list of inclusions, not only the headline price.
| Name | Price | Duration | Rating | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Budget two-day Akagera safari | From $500 per person | 2 days | Not supplied | Short breaks and careful budgets |
| Mid-range two-day Akagera safari | Operator quote required | 2 days | Not supplied | Travelers wanting comfort without luxury rates |
| Luxury two-day Akagera safari | Up to $4,500 per person | 2 days | Not supplied | Private service and premium lodges |
The table shows why a fixed “average price” can mislead you. The reported package range covers one-day to 10-day trips, and the lower and upper figures do not describe the same travel style [1]. Ask each operator for a full price breakdown.
Park entry alone can take about $200 per foreign non-resident adult on a two-day visit, using the reported $100 daily rate [4][6]. A shared Lake Ihema boat safari can add about $40 per person [4]. Your quote should show whether these items sit inside the package or remain separate.
Do not assume every two-day package includes every item above. Some operators may price the boat trip separately. Others may include game drives in daily guiding costs. A clear written itinerary protects your budget.
Two days can feel enough when your main goal is a first look at Akagera. Still, the plan leaves little spare time. If your flight, road transfer, or check-in runs late, you may lose part of your first game drive.
Review Akagera entry fees and safari costs for 2027 before you compare package totals. Then request a quote that lists park fees, rooms, meals, guiding, transport, and activities separately.
A three-day Akagera safari is worth the extra cost for travelers who want more time in the park. Reported prices range from $880 to $3,281 per person, while a mid-range package example costs about $940 [1][4]. The third day adds time for another drive, a boat trip, or a slower schedule.
The extra day does not guarantee a specific animal sighting. It does give you more hours in different parts of the park. That matters when you want to spread out drives instead of fitting every activity into one busy day.
| Name | Price | Duration | Rating | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lower-priced three-day safari | About $880 per person | 3 days | Not supplied | Travelers seeking a longer stay at a lower rate |
| Mid-range three-day safari | About $940 per person | 3 days | Not supplied | Most travelers wanting comfort and value |
| Higher-priced three-day safari | Up to $3,281 per person | 3 days | Not supplied | Private services, better rooms, or added activities |
Mid-range accommodation is reported at about $220 to $350 per person per night [4]. Luxury accommodation can cost about $1,500 to more than $4,000 per person per night [4]. These figures show why lodge selection can change a three-day quote faster than a small activity fee.
A three-day trip may include two nights near Akagera, but you must check the itinerary. Some tour sellers count travel days in the trip length. Others describe three full days in the park. Ask what time the vehicle arrives and leaves each day.
Three days also makes the park easier to pair with another Rwanda plan. For example, you can continue toward Volcanoes National Park after Akagera, or compare a longer route in the five-day Rwanda safari itinerary for 2027. Do not add extra destinations without checking road time.
Compare Rwanda safari lodges for 2027 when the main difference between your quotes is room type. SafariFind connects travelers with verified tour operators, so you can compare package details and read authentic reviews before choosing a three-day plan.
Start your 2027 Akagera safari plan by fixing the trip length, lodge level, and activity list. Then ask for a written quote with park entry, transport, guiding, meals, rooms, and boat fees shown separately. This method makes two-day and three-day offers easier to compare.
Akagera safari prices in 2027 are easier to judge when every quote uses the same checklist. For example, compare two packages that both include two nights, two game drives, transport from Kigali, meals, and park entry. A cheaper quote may become more expensive after missing fees are added.
The reported foreign non-resident entry rate is about $100 per adult per day [4][6]. Treat that figure as a planning guide, then confirm the current rate with your operator. Nationality, residence, age, and visit length can affect park pricing [6].
Read the itinerary line by line. “Game drive included” may mean the vehicle and guide are included, while park entry remains separate. The source information also notes that daily guiding may include game drives, but you should confirm the exact package terms [4].
Check the room price next. Mid-range rooms are reported at about $220 to $350 per person per night, while luxury stays may reach more than $4,000 per person per night [4]. Those numbers make accommodation one of the largest decisions in your budget.
Ask whether the price is per person sharing or for a single traveler. A solo quote may include private vehicle costs that two people can share. This detail can change the value of a two-day trip.
Finally, plan your wider Rwanda route. A short Akagera visit can fit beside a Kigali stay, a Lake Muhazi day tour, or a longer national park itinerary. A gorilla trip has separate permit costs, so keep it outside your Akagera budget when comparing plans. SafariFind’s Rwanda safari cost guide for 2027 can help you plan the wider daily spend.
Choose two days when time is your main limit and your budget favors a shorter stay. Choose three days when you want more game-drive time, a boat trip, and a less rushed schedule. For many first-time visitors, three days offers the better balance if the added night fits your budget.
A two-day Akagera safari costs from $500 to $4,500 per person in listed 2027 package prices [1]. The final price depends on accommodation, transport, guiding, park entry, meals, and added activities such as a Lake Ihema boat safari.
A three-day Akagera safari costs about $880 to $3,281 per person in the reported range. A mid-range example costs about $940 per person [1][4]. Ask whether the quote includes park fees, game drives, rooms, meals, transport, and boat activities.
Two days is enough for a focused Akagera visit with a game drive and a possible boat safari. The schedule is tight, so delays can reduce park time. Three days suits travelers who want another drive or a slower plan.
Foreign non-resident adults are reported to pay about $100 per day for Akagera park entry [4][6]. That means about $200 for two days or $300 for three days, before transport, accommodation, guiding, and meals.
An Akagera package may include a boat trip, but you must confirm the terms with the operator. A shared Lake Ihema boat safari is reported at about $40 per person [4]. Some packages include it, while others list it as an optional activity.
Use SafariFind to compare verified tour operators, package prices, and authentic traveler reviews. Request a quote with every fee listed, then choose between a two-day and three-day Akagera safari based on time, comfort, and activities.
Akagera safari prices in 2027 range from $500 to $4,500 per person, but most travelers need a more focused comparison. A two-day safari suits a tight schedule. A three-day safari gives more time for drives, a Lake Ihema boat trip, and rest between activities.
Use about $940 per person as a mid-range three-day reference point [1]. For a two-day visit, remember that reported park entry alone may reach about $200 per foreign non-resident adult [4][6]. Confirm every fee before you book.
Compare lodge levels, transport, guiding, meals, and boat costs in the same quote. Then read traveler feedback before making your choice. Compare 2027 Akagera safari packages and prices through SafariFind, request a quote from verified operators, and choose the trip that fits your 2027 plans.

"I was working with a tour operator out of Kenya to plan a Uganda gorilla trek followed by a Kenya & Tanzania safari. For some reason, the Uganda portion started having issues with only a few weeks to go. Enter Brian Ahereza of GoExplore. Wow! Talk about fast acting and excellent service. Within 1 day, Brian arranged everything. The only thing that would have made my trip better is if I had added one extra day, but by this point, we couldn't squeeze it in, so Brian did the absolute best with what he had to work with. For starters, one of the best things that could have happened did! ANd that was to have Charles assigned as our driver/guide. We flew into Kigali, Rwanda and Charles met us at the airport and took us to our hotel. The next morning we got up for the long drive to the Nkoringo area of Bwindi. A lot of this drive is on some VERY difficult dirt roads and Charles was masterful at navigating the terrain. Furthermore, I was using offline Google Maps to track our location and there is no possible way I could have gotten to where Charles was going. We got to Nkoringo Lodge and immediately loved it. Brian had arranged for us to have one of only 2 rooms there that had on demand hot water. Our room overlooked Bwindi and we sat on the deck admiring the view. To get to the bar/dining area, we hiked up and over a ridge and the view from that side was south to the 3 volcanoes on the border of Uganda/Rwanda/Congo - absolutely beautiful! The next day we did the trek to the Nkuringo gorilla group. It was not a difficult trek until we had to cross a fast flowing stream because the gorillas had gone to that side and as soon as we crossed, they came back! So we did too. And then we found them and it was such a wonderful experience! My wife was standing next to me and a young male (7-8 years old??) suddenly turned and started walking towards us. My wife moved to the left, but our guide said to stand still. The gorilla walked right between us and as he passed, he stuck out his arm between my legs and grasped me around the thigh!!! OMG! Even though I could feel his amazing power, I did not feel in danger. Just as quickly, he let go and continued walking! After that amazing trek, we drove (another long day) up to Queen Elizabeth National Park and spent 2 nights at the Buffalo Safari lodge. We did a couple of games drives in which we saw lots of antelope, elephants, buffalo and 6 lions (all female, with one or two young males). We followed with a boat ride on the Kazenga channel which was fantastic. The next day, we drove to Kibale National Park to look for Chimps. We arrived at our wonderful lodge, the Chimpanzee Forest Guest House at about lunchtime and then headed to Kibale for our Chimp Trek. At lunch, we met a couple who showed us amazing pictures from their trek that very morning. Unfortunately for us, even with 7 groups in the forest, we could only find 2 chimp sand they were up in the trees. That happens in nature, but the real lesson is to take the morning trek!!! The next day, Charles drove us to Entebbe and our Uganda trip was over. One of my friends asked me about the birds in Uganda. My wife loves birds and by extension, I have come to love them as well. SHe asked Charles, our guide, about every single bird we saw. Charles had a very well worn copy of "Birds of East Africa". He didn't need that book because he had it memorized. Charles was a fantastic driver/guide/person! He made our trip incredibly special! I can't thank Brian, Charles and GoExplore enough for making this so special!!!"
5★ - "I’m a wildlife photographer, and in May 2025, I went on an 8-day private photo safari organized by Brian, the owner of GoExplore Safari. The goal was to photograph Uganda’s wildlife highlights: gorillas in Bwindi, big ca" - Jason Chen • Verified review
"I’m a wildlife photographer, and in May 2025, I went on an 8-day private photo safari organized by Brian, the owner of GoExplore Safari. The goal was to photograph Uganda’s wildlife highlights: gorillas in Bwindi, big cats in Queen Elizabeth, chimpanzees in Kibale, and the rare Shoebill Stork in Mabamba Swamp. The itinerary was well thought out, and everything ran smoothly. I flew into Kigali, Rwanda, which I highly recommend if you're heading to the Rushaga sector of Bwindi — much closer and more convenient than Entebbe. If photography is your priority, I also suggest booking two gorilla treks or considering Mgahinga. I only did one, and while it was incredible to see them, capturing strong images was difficult. The rainforest is thick, lighting tricky, and your movement limited — just something to keep in mind. Mozes, my guide, was outstanding. He’s punctual, safe, knowledgeable, and has a clear love for wildlife. He studied tourism, understands photography, and even shared stories from past conservation work, like relocating giraffes from Murchison Falls to Kidepo. He always positioned the car for the best angles and made the drives smooth and productive. Our first stop was Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge, just five minutes from Rushaga Gate. The lodge was cozy, well-designed, and mosquito-free, with great coffee and local food — an ideal base for gorilla trekking. In Queen Elizabeth, we had four full days of game drives. I like to go hard on photography, so we were out from sunrise to sunset. One major perk with GoExplore is you can plan your own drive schedule within park hours (6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.). On our first day, we stayed until closing — the only car left in Kasenyi Plains. That kind of flexibility made a huge difference. I also recommend the optional lion and leopard tracking. You’re still in your private vehicle, but a tracker joins you and leads off-road directly to the cats. We spent nearly four hours with a leopard and her cubs in a cactus tree — truly a dream scenario for any photographer. Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale was another highlight. The chimps came down from the trees and moved through the forest, and we followed them. The one-hour viewing stretched to 2.5 hours. For photography, it’s better to wait until they’re on the ground — the real action happens there. On the final day, we went to Mabamba Swamp to see the Shoebill. From a photography standpoint, it’s the best place in Africa to photograph this rare bird. The canoe brings you to water level, with clean backgrounds and soft light — a perfect setup. Uganda in late May was lush, green, and surprisingly dry — just one short rainstorm. The scenery, wildlife, and people made it a beautiful place to explore. If you’re considering Uganda, book with GoExplore — and if you can, request Mozes. His experience and attention to detail made the entire trip not just productive, but truly enjoyable. Huge thanks to Brian and Mozes for making it all happen!"
