A 7-day South Luangwa safari costs about $4,165 before international flights, while a broader trip with flights can reach $6,245 per person in 2027. [2]
A 7-Day Zambia Safari Itinerary 2027: Cost and Daily Plan usually focuses on South Luangwa, with seven days for game drives, walking safaris, and rest. Budget about $4,165 before international flights, or about $6,245 with flights, accommodation, and activities. Visit between June and September for dry weather and clear wildlife viewing. [2]
A 7-Day Zambia Safari Itinerary 2027: Cost and Daily Plan is a focused route through one main wildlife area. South Luangwa works well because seven days allow time for arrival, several game drives, a walking safari, and a slower final day. You avoid rushing between distant parks.
SafariFind connects travelers with verified tour operators, package details, and authentic traveler reviews. That matters in Zambia, where the same seven-day trip can vary sharply by camp type, season, flights, and included activities.
A seven-day Zambia safari costs about $4,165 before international flights. A wider estimate reaches $6,245 per person when flights, accommodation, and activities are included. [2] These figures are planning guides for 2027, not fixed quotes. Ask each operator what the price includes.
Quick answer: Choose South Luangwa for the clearest seven-day plan. Travel from June through September for dry-season wildlife viewing. Set aside $4,165 before international flights, or about $6,245 with flights and activities. Add extra funds for visas, tips, drinks, insurance, and personal purchases.

A 7-day Zambia safari itinerary is a six-night wildlife trip built around one main park, usually South Luangwa. The plan gives you enough time for several drives and walks without losing full days to long road transfers. It suits travelers who prefer depth over a rushed countrywide tour.
South Luangwa is known for guided walking, open vehicle drives, and wildlife activity near river habitats. The trip feels more active than a drive-only safari. You may spend one morning on foot, then take an afternoon or night drive with a trained guide.
South Luangwa also works well for photographers. Early drives give softer light and cooler air. Evening drives can change the mood, but you should confirm whether night drives are included in your selected camp rate.
This itinerary is best for couples, small groups, solo travelers, and families with older children. It is also a good match for visitors who want a walking safari rather than a large multi-park circuit.
Families should ask about minimum ages for walking activities. Travelers with mobility limits should ask about vehicle access, camp paths, bathroom layouts, and transfer times before booking. SafariFind reviews can help you compare what past guests actually experienced.
Seven days create a useful rhythm. The first day covers arrival and transfer. The next four days focus on wildlife. The final two days allow more drives and a relaxed departure. You also gain flexibility when rain, delayed flights, or tiredness changes the plan.
A shorter trip can feel rushed. A longer trip gives more time for a second park, such as Lower Zambezi or Kafue. However, adding parks increases transfers and often changes the total price.
Compare 7-day Zambia safari packages and verified operator reviews before choosing your camp, season, and activity plan.
A 7-day Zambia safari costs about $4,165 before international flights, or about $6,245 per person with flights, accommodation, and activities. [2] A combined Kafue and Lower Zambezi itinerary is listed from $5,680 for seven days. [3] Your final quote depends on camp level, transfers, and park charges.

| South Luangwa estimate with flights | About $6,245 | 7 days | Not provided | Convenience and full planning |

TourRadar lists Zambia tours from $150 per day and shows 43 Zambia tours, including small-group choices. [5] That starting figure does not replace a full seven-day safari quote. Confirm whether it includes lodging, meals, park fees, transfers, and activities.
Time + Tide lists November through June as its green season for 2027 rates. It also states that park fees and conservation levies apply to complimentary nights. [4] Ask for a written breakdown. A free night does not always mean a free complete stay.
Find 7-day Zambia safari packages with clear prices and included activities when your budget is strict.
The strongest daily plan uses one arrival day, four wildlife days, one flexible day, and one departure day. This structure limits long transfers and leaves room for both walking and vehicle safaris. South Luangwa remains the main base throughout the week.
Lusaka is the likely starting point for many Zambia trips. Meet your operator, check your travel documents, and connect with your onward transfer. Depending on the route, you may travel by road or take a domestic flight toward South Luangwa.
Keep this day light. Long international travel can leave you tired, and the next morning may start early. Confirm baggage limits if your trip uses a small aircraft. Soft bags often work better than hard cases, but ask your operator for the exact rule.
Arrive at camp, eat lunch, and rest during the hottest part of the day. Take an afternoon game drive when the temperature drops. Your guide can explain the camp rules, drive schedule, walking options, and wildlife safety plan.
This first drive should not carry too much pressure. Use it to learn how the guide works and how far the camp sits from key viewing areas.
Start before sunrise for a morning game drive. Cooler hours often suit active wildlife and longer viewing. Return for breakfast or brunch, then rest during midday.
Take a guided walk later if your camp offers one and you meet its age and fitness rules. Walking changes how you read the bush. You focus on tracks, calls, plants, and small signs rather than only large animals.
Use this day for two drives or one long drive with a picnic meal. Tell your guide what you hope to see, but stay open to the route. Wildlife does not follow a fixed schedule, and patient viewing often beats a rushed search.
Ask whether your camp offers a night drive. The activity, vehicle setup, and rules vary by operator. Bring a warm layer because open vehicles can feel cold after sunset.
Make Day 5 your main walking day if conditions allow. A longer walk can add a different pace to the trip. If walking is not suitable, choose another vehicle drive or a rest period at camp.
Wilderness lists Zambia safari categories for honeymoon, family, and walking trips. It also offers itinerary changes through a Travel Designer. [6] Ask for a plan that matches your group rather than accepting a preset schedule.
Use your last full day to revisit a productive area or try a different route. You can choose a sunrise drive, a long afternoon drive, or both. Leave time to pack and settle any camp account before departure.
Review your transfer time for the next morning. A late wildlife drive may not suit an early flight. Good planning protects the final day from avoidable stress.
Have breakfast, complete the camp transfer, and connect with your onward flight or road journey. Keep passports, medication, and valuables in your hand luggage. Build spare time into the plan for weather and transfer changes.
Start by choosing the season, park, and comfort level before comparing prices. A clear brief helps operators quote the same trip. Send your dates, group size, preferred room type, walking interest, and flight needs in one message.
June through September is the clearest match for dry-season wildlife viewing in South Luangwa. [2] Water becomes more limited, roads are often easier to use, and wildlife viewing can suit a first safari. Nights can feel cold, so pack a fleece or light jacket.
November through June is identified as the green season for Time + Tide's 2027 rates. [4] Green-season travel may offer a different view of the park, but you must ask about rainfall, road conditions, and activity schedules for your dates.
Getting there usually means flying into Zambia, reaching Lusaka, and connecting to South Luangwa by domestic flight or road. Exact routes depend on your operator and travel dates. Confirm the airport, baggage limit, transfer time, and whether the quote includes every connection.
Some travelers add Victoria Falls before or after their safari. That can work well, but it changes the budget and transfer plan. The separate guide to Livingstone safari packages and day trips helps compare that add-on.
SafariFind helps you compare operators, package details, and traveler feedback in one place. A written quote is still essential. It shows whether two similar prices actually cover the same services.

Yes, Zambia is good for safari if you want walking activities, small-group travel, and a focused wildlife route. South Luangwa supports a practical seven-day plan, while Kafue and Lower Zambezi create longer or more varied trips. Your best choice depends on budget, season, and transfer tolerance.
Zambia is especially suitable for travelers who prefer a quieter style of safari. However, the country can cost more than a simple budget tour once flights, park fees, private vehicles, and camp stays enter the quote.
For a first trip, South Luangwa offers the cleanest plan. For a two-park holiday, Kafue and Lower Zambezi are listed together from $5,680 for seven days. [3] For a broader selection, TourRadar lists 43 Zambia tours and prices from $150 per day. [5]
Travelers who want a more unusual route can also compare the Luambe National Park safari guide or the Bangweulu Wetlands budget guide. These options may suit repeat visitors who want to move beyond the standard route.

"On 10.9. until 1.10. In 2023, I went on a trip to Botswana, Zimbabwe and a short visit to Zambia with my clients - friends. I carefully prepared the trip in cooperation with the manager of Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours, Mr. Tongesai Mutematsaka. After arriving in Gaborone we organized a short tour of the city ourselves and met Tongesai in Maun. Tongesai was our driver and guide practically the whole way. We visited the Okavango River Delta and its surroundings (Moremi Reserve, Mokoro boat cruise, flight over the Okavango Delta. This was followed by a visit to the Makgadikgadi Salt Flats, then the Elephant Sands area and in Botswana Chobe National Park with a cruise on the Chobe River. Then we crossed to Zimbabwe, which was the main part of our journey. In the Victoria Falls area, we visited the Monde settlement, took a helicopter flight over Victoria Falls, followed by a cruise on the Zambezi River as part of a visit to the national park of the same name. We also walked past Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwean side and had a Boma dinner in the evening (too much of a "tourist thing"). On the Zambian side of the falls we saw white rhinos in Mosi - oa - Tunya National Park, then visited the museum in Livingstone and walked the Zambian side of the falls. From Victoria Falls, we headed to Hwange National Park, where we had a beautiful program - a safari, and after Hwange, there was also a very interesting program in Matobo National Park (there, among other things, white rhinos (a mother with her little daughter), beautiful rock formations and prehistoric cave drawings. The next place visited was Khami with very interesting buildings, and then we visited the ruins of Great Zimbabwe, which are among the most important world monuments. This was followed by a visit to the Chinhoya Karst and finally the gallery in Harare. I would also like to comment on the provision of services: Accommodation in the hotels was at the standard, expected level, only the service at the Great Zimbabwe Hotel was rather lazy. Accommodation in lodges - very good and the best accommodation was in Iganyana tented camp in Hwange National Park, mainly due to the extraordinary professionalism and very friendly attitude of the staff there towards us, the visitors. I must also highly praise all the local guides we met everywhere, e.g. in Chobe, Hwange and Matobo National Parks. I want to emphasize that this journey is one of the most interesting that I have made around the world. I believe that my clients - friends were also satisfied with the set. Thanks to the travel agency Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours and Mr. Tongesai Mutematsaka. I recommend Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours to anyone considering a trip to Zimbabwe."

"Tongesai was awesome from the start. I knew he was a good tour operator because he answered all of my questions in a timely manner and no question was ever stupid. Everything was just as he said once we arrived and really it was better. We prepared for about a year in advance for this trip and the tour operator was instrumental and making this trip a success. I highly recommend this tour operator to anyone who wants to visit Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Botswana. Give Tongesai a call or email, and you will 100% not be disappointed. I have a very deep understanding of border crossing and transportation challenges in many African countries at this point because of the efforts of the tour operator. This makes my wife and I have very comfortable to approach another visit or look at visiting a different African country."
