One 2027 Zambezi canoe safari costs US$3,675 before flights, showing how much a short Zambia adventure can include. [4]
A 5-day Lower Zambezi safari itinerary in 2027 costs about US$2,768 per person, based on published package prices and comparable trips. [2] The route usually starts in Lusaka, continues to Lower Zambezi National Park, and ends with game drives, river cruises, and lodge stays. April, May, and November offer lower-rate planning opportunities.
A 5-Day Lower Zambezi Safari Itinerary 2027: Cost & Route gives you a clear plan for a short Zambia wildlife trip. The itinerary focuses on Lower Zambezi National Park and the Zambezi River. Most packages combine lodge accommodation with game drives, river cruises, or canoe activities.
Lower Zambezi National Park is best for travelers who want varied safari days. You can spend one morning on a game drive, then watch the river during an afternoon cruise. A five-day plan also leaves enough time for airport transfers without making every day feel rushed.
Quick answer: A 5-day Lower Zambezi safari costs about US$2,768 per person in 2027. [2] Plan a Lusaka-to-Lower-Zambezi route with four nights at a lodge. April, May, and November suit travelers seeking lower rates, while June to October suits travelers seeking classic dry-season planning.
Prices need careful checking because safari packages do not all include the same services. Some rates include transfers, meals, park fees, and activities. Others exclude international flights or use estimated prices that require confirmation. This guide separates published figures from planning advice.
A 5-day Lower Zambezi safari is a compact Zambia trip built around four nights in or near Lower Zambezi National Park. The route normally links Lusaka with a riverside lodge, then schedules game drives and water-based activities across four full or partial safari days.
Known for: Lower Zambezi safari packages are known for combining land viewing with river experiences. Published package information lists game drives, river cruises, and lodge stays as key parts of the trip. [2] A canoe safari also shows the wider range of activities available in the Zambezi Valley. [4]
Best for: This route suits couples, first-time safari travelers, photographers, and visitors with limited time in Zambia. It also works well as one part of a longer trip that includes Victoria Falls or South Luangwa.
Zambia safari programs often use Lower Zambezi as one stop within a larger circuit. One published itinerary combines three nights in South Luangwa, three nights in Lower Zambezi, and Victoria Falls. [6] That plan takes longer, but it shows how the park can fit into a multi-region journey.

A five-day safari gives you enough time to try more than one activity. A shorter four-day package may reduce lodge nights and transfer time. A longer seven-day trip gives you more flexibility, but it also raises the total cost and uses more holiday days.
Lower Zambezi safari planning matters because transfer time can shape your experience. You should confirm the arrival point, road length, domestic flight needs, and final departure connection before paying a deposit. A verified operator should explain these details in writing.
A 5-day Lower Zambezi safari costs about US$2,768 per person in 2027, using published package comparisons as a planning benchmark. [2] Actual prices depend on the lodge, season, group size, included transfers, activity mix, and whether international or domestic flights are included.
Published Lower Zambezi safari examples range from US$1,452 for a four-day itinerary to about US$2,768 for advertised packages that include a seven-day option. [2] These figures are useful benchmarks, but they do not create a fixed market rate for every five-day departure.
| Name | Price | Duration | Rating | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Published Lower Zambezi example | US$1,452 | 4 days | Not stated | Shorter safari budget |
| Lower Zambezi planning benchmark | About US$2,768 | Advertised 7-day comparison | Not stated | Mid-range planning |
| Zambezi Canoe Safari | US$3,675 | 12–19 June 2027 | Not stated | Canoe-focused adventure |
| Lower Zambezi National Park tour | US$5,236 | Not stated | Not stated | 2–3 travelers seeking a private estimate |
The US$5,236 figure is an estimated price for two or three travelers. The source states that inflation affects the estimate and that travelers must confirm pricing and availability. [5] The US$3,675 canoe departure excludes flights and applies to 12–19 June 2027. [4]
Price range: Use US$1,452 to US$5,236 as a broad published comparison range, not a guaranteed quote. [2][5] A practical 2027 budget should also allow for flights, tips, drinks, visas, travel insurance, and optional activities unless the operator lists them as included.
Royal Zambezi Lodge lists 21–31 May as a green or secret season period. It lists June, July, and October as shoulder periods, while August and September are peak or high season for its 2026 costing. [8] Use these dates as a guide only, because 2027 rates need fresh confirmation.
Compare Lower Zambezi safari prices for 2027
SafariFind connects travelers with verified tour operators, package details, and authentic traveler reviews. Compare the included services, not only the headline price. Ask each operator to confirm the lodge, transfer plan, park fees, meals, and cancellation terms.
The best five-day route starts in Lusaka, moves to Lower Zambezi National Park, and uses the middle days for both land and river activities. This plan protects your time while giving you two or three chances to enjoy game drives and at least one river-based experience.
Day 1 route: Arrive in Lusaka, meet your guide or transfer team, and travel toward your Lower Zambezi lodge. Your operator should state whether this connection uses a road transfer, scheduled flight, or lodge-arranged aviation service.
Keep the first day flexible. International arrivals can face delays, and a late arrival may change your first activity. A good plan treats arrival day as a transfer day rather than promising a full safari schedule.
Day 2 route: Take your first morning or afternoon game drive after breakfast. Your guide can explain the park layout, vehicle rules, meeting times, and the best way to prepare for changing weather.
Use this day to settle into the safari rhythm. Carry water, a hat, light layers, and a small camera bag. Confirm the next day’s start time before dinner, especially if you plan an early drive.
Day 3 route: Combine a game drive with an afternoon river cruise. This is the most balanced day in the itinerary because it gives you two different ways to explore the Lower Zambezi landscape.
River activities also create a slower break between drives. Ask whether the cruise is shared or private, how long it lasts, and whether drinks or equipment form part of the package. These details affect both comfort and cost.
Day 4 route: Reserve the fourth day for your preferred activity. You can repeat a game drive, choose a canoe activity, or spend more time at the lodge and river.
A flexible day helps when weather, wildlife movement, or energy levels change your plans. Canoe-focused departures show that the Zambezi Valley supports active trips, not only vehicle safaris. [4] Only book canoeing with an operator that explains safety rules and guide qualifications.
Day 5 route: Leave Lower Zambezi after breakfast and return to Lusaka for your onward journey. Keep a buffer before an international flight, because the final transfer schedule may change with road or flight conditions.
Travelers who want more time can add another Zambia region. A published route links Lusaka, South Luangwa, Lower Zambezi, and Victoria Falls. [6] Readers comparing that option can review the 7-day South Luangwa safari itinerary before building a longer trip.
Start by choosing your travel month, lodge style, and activity mix. Then request a written quote that shows every included service. This simple process helps you compare five-day safari packages on equal terms.
April, May, and November are useful months to check when you want lower-rate options. The research summary identifies these months for lower rates, while Royal Zambezi Lodge separates green, shoulder, and peak periods in its seasonal costing. [2][8]
Several 2027 Zambia departures are already published. Bundu Adventures lists departures from 24 April to 5 May, 19–30 May, 20–31 July, 26 August to 6 September, and 9–20 October 2027. [1] These dates describe a broader Zambia itinerary, not a guaranteed five-day Lower Zambezi package.
Do not assume every item appears in the base rate. The canoe safari listed for June 2027 excludes flights. [4] Another Lower Zambezi tour lists an inflation-based estimate that needs confirmation. [5] Ask for a final price, payment schedule, and cancellation policy before booking.
Getting there: Lusaka is the most useful starting point for this itinerary. Your operator should arrange the onward connection to Lower Zambezi, then return you to Lusaka or connect you with another Zambia destination.
SafariFind helps you compare verified tour operators and read authentic reviews from previous travelers. Look for reviews that mention guide quality, lodge standards, transfer timing, food, and communication. These details tell you more than a short star score alone.
You can also compare a different region through the guide to South Luangwa lodges and 2027 camp prices. That comparison helps you decide whether Lower Zambezi fits your budget and preferred pace.
Pack light, practical clothing for warm days, cool mornings, and outdoor activities. A small soft bag works better than a large hard suitcase when your route includes lodge transfers or light aircraft.
Ask your operator about luggage limits before departure. Also confirm whether the lodge supplies binoculars, rain gear, life jackets, or dry bags for river activities. You can avoid duplicate packing when the operator gives clear equipment details.
Lower Zambezi safari days often start early and include quiet breaks. Follow your guide’s instructions near the river and during canoe activities. Your guide controls the route, timing, and safe distance from wildlife.
Travelers adding Victoria Falls can compare the 2027 Victoria Falls Zambia packages for route ideas and extra nights. Travelers starting or ending in Livingstone can also read the guide to Livingstone activities and tour prices.
Keep your final day simple. A relaxed departure gives you time to manage delays and protects your international flight connection. Your operator should provide a clear emergency contact for every transfer.

April, May, and November are useful months to check for lower Lower Zambezi safari rates. Royal Zambezi Lodge lists 21–31 May as green or secret season, June, July, and October as shoulder periods, and August and September as peak season in its 2026 costing. [8] Confirm 2027 rates directly.
A five-day Lower Zambezi safari usually starts in Lusaka, continues to a Lower Zambezi lodge, and returns to Lusaka on day five. The middle days include game drives, a river cruise, and a flexible activity such as canoeing or another drive.
A standard five-day Lower Zambezi safari does not automatically include Victoria Falls. A published Zambia itinerary combines South Luangwa, Lower Zambezi, and Victoria Falls, but that route takes longer than five days. [6] Add extra nights if you want both destinations.
Flights are not always included in Lower Zambezi safari prices. The June 12–19, 2027 Zambezi Canoe Safari is listed at US$3,675 excluding flights. [4] Ask whether international flights, domestic flights, road transfers, and airport transfers appear in your quote.

"On 10.9. until 1.10. In 2023, I went on a trip to Botswana, Zimbabwe and a short visit to Zambia with my clients - friends. I carefully prepared the trip in cooperation with the manager of Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours, Mr. Tongesai Mutematsaka. After arriving in Gaborone we organized a short tour of the city ourselves and met Tongesai in Maun. Tongesai was our driver and guide practically the whole way. We visited the Okavango River Delta and its surroundings (Moremi Reserve, Mokoro boat cruise, flight over the Okavango Delta. This was followed by a visit to the Makgadikgadi Salt Flats, then the Elephant Sands area and in Botswana Chobe National Park with a cruise on the Chobe River. Then we crossed to Zimbabwe, which was the main part of our journey. In the Victoria Falls area, we visited the Monde settlement, took a helicopter flight over Victoria Falls, followed by a cruise on the Zambezi River as part of a visit to the national park of the same name. We also walked past Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwean side and had a Boma dinner in the evening (too much of a "tourist thing"). On the Zambian side of the falls we saw white rhinos in Mosi - oa - Tunya National Park, then visited the museum in Livingstone and walked the Zambian side of the falls. From Victoria Falls, we headed to Hwange National Park, where we had a beautiful program - a safari, and after Hwange, there was also a very interesting program in Matobo National Park (there, among other things, white rhinos (a mother with her little daughter), beautiful rock formations and prehistoric cave drawings. The next place visited was Khami with very interesting buildings, and then we visited the ruins of Great Zimbabwe, which are among the most important world monuments. This was followed by a visit to the Chinhoya Karst and finally the gallery in Harare. I would also like to comment on the provision of services: Accommodation in the hotels was at the standard, expected level, only the service at the Great Zimbabwe Hotel was rather lazy. Accommodation in lodges - very good and the best accommodation was in Iganyana tented camp in Hwange National Park, mainly due to the extraordinary professionalism and very friendly attitude of the staff there towards us, the visitors. I must also highly praise all the local guides we met everywhere, e.g. in Chobe, Hwange and Matobo National Parks. I want to emphasize that this journey is one of the most interesting that I have made around the world. I believe that my clients - friends were also satisfied with the set. Thanks to the travel agency Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours and Mr. Tongesai Mutematsaka. I recommend Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours to anyone considering a trip to Zimbabwe."

"Tongesai was awesome from the start. I knew he was a good tour operator because he answered all of my questions in a timely manner and no question was ever stupid. Everything was just as he said once we arrived and really it was better. We prepared for about a year in advance for this trip and the tour operator was instrumental and making this trip a success. I highly recommend this tour operator to anyone who wants to visit Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Botswana. Give Tongesai a call or email, and you will 100% not be disappointed. I have a very deep understanding of border crossing and transportation challenges in many African countries at this point because of the efforts of the tour operator. This makes my wife and I have very comfortable to approach another visit or look at visiting a different African country."
